dont do it.. sharm is a sh#t hole... full of scum

I didn't notice that when I went - mind you first time it was about 15 years ago and the second was about 3 years ago. Both times to do diving courses. Some great restaurants but otherwise not a lot else to do apart from sunbathe.

With that sort of language and grammar maybe Ibiza is more your sort of place?

It depends where you stay , we have been twice a year for the past 5 years and always stay at the Hilton - This is not full of scum lol :whistling:

Surely if your going to go to egypt, actually go and see egypt instead of what is essentially a resort that could be anywhere. Aswan dam, pyramids, sphynx etc?

Fantastic find....so would go if wasn't on an Oracle course next week.....will have to hope that there are finds like this in December

Good deal, me and the other halt are off there again ( 3rd time this year ) for a month in November, yes the place could do with a bit of a tidy up but it is a great place to visit.

agreed, never seen the point of sunbathing all day.....i get restless after 30 mins, prefer to explore and sample the country which is why i hate the med as its full of englsih northerners and their crappy burger/chips and chips/chips cafes!
why dont these people stay at home if they want to eat english food!!

Not wanting to be rude, but how can you visit the same place 3 times in a year... surely you can be more original than that.

+1 and dont forget the mountain goats...

I do love the 'registered' cabs that take you where they want unless you threaten to beat them - disgusting people.. oh and dont go if you are a blonde woman from ages 12 - 70 - they'll do any thing to touch you and blatently stare at you regardless of the situation ..

I stayed at a 5 star #cough# hotel and still thought it was turd.. horrible horrible place..

only upside is the diving/sealife and possibly the best degree per pound holiday as it is in africa dont forget

That part of Egypt isnt in Africa actually and its not a bad place for a cheap holiday. Just expect to get what you pay for. I have paid £400 for an all inclusive nile cruise on more than one occassion through Cosmos. Great holiday. In Sharm last week.

Im blonde slim and the first time i went i was 17 and ive been twice a year and now im 22.... We always go back and stay in the same place, The Hilton Sharks Bay. Its the nicest hotel, the staff there are so friendly. We have done all the trips and because they are organised by the Hilton they are all professional and decent people. We always get taxis that are Hilton taxis.. i would never recommend just getting into the white and blue cabs. (Our hilton taxi driver collects us from the aiprport in an air conditioned subaru with leather trim!)

Yes you might get stared at when you go out into the town but you have to remember the majority of workers over there are men... they work away from their familys and are surrounded by men, women in their religion/culture dont dress the way we do so when they see english girls/women walking round in bikinis they are going to look... Surely you would be looked at if you were walking down the street in a bikini here ??!

Its an amazing place and i go by the saying you get what you pay for... if its really cheap then you cant expect much... pay a bit extra , stay in a decent hotel and you'll be treated like royalty.

Unfortunately, Sharm is quite a long way away from the cultural sites. It's a haven for scuba divers and sun seekers.

I would consider going to the Carribean and the States as plain boring. But that's why we are all different. Maybe because you like a sanitised world and I prefer a more cultural experience?

You would probably consider a lot of Africa a 'sh#t hole' to use your vocabulary but is undoubtedly one of the most amazing places in the world. I would say that Sharm is a more sanitised version of Egypt but I really can't see where all the 'scum' was. Maybe as a fool I don't realise I am the scum you talk about.

Haha... Sorry im already engaged! :-D And my Fiance looks like the Hulk (He's not green though) maybe thats why the Egyptians leave us alone!

I went to Sharm last year for 7 days, it is ok if you just want to lay on a sunbed for a week,if you are not a diver then there literally is nothing to to apart from eat out in the evening. There are a few decent restaurants, these are not easily found due to the high volume of poor eateries.

Season depending, It is generally too hot to walk anywhere during the day. There are a large amount of pretentious Russians and Germans that flock here, and I would agree about the blonde thing, my wife being blonde was pestered anywhere we walked.

As the person above said, If you stay in a decent hotel you will be treated well. Not a terrible holiday, but 7 days was enough. I'm not sure I would want to go and see the pyramids now, I heard that Burger Kings were fairly prominantly situated.

If you are going then drop me a msg and I'll look up the names of the restaurants we liked.

would not go in a 3 star in egypt....5 star are not too expensive..

people go to egypt because its cheap...it aint for the food/drink believe me!!!

we usually get 2 weeks for about £430 each too so its not that cheap for a week.

we preferred Taba to sharm as its quieter and not as many chavs :)

radisson sas in taba was nice but no way are they true 5 stars...probably a 3 at the best if u compare to cyprus etc

we decided against egypt for out next holiday as 3 times is enough really...just booked vegas for may 2010.....what a difference in holidays...lol

Yes the Hilton Sharks Bay is the best !!!! It has gone up in price because they have just had a huge new extension built.Over the road behind where the crazy golf and squash courts are they have just built a massive new site, the only website that shows these new pictures is Asda Travel lol Returning guests get to say in the new bit, all new resturants, massive pool and gorgeous rooms. We are going back in July cant wait !!! And again you get what you pay for this hotel is utter bliss ! We get treated like royalty, probably because we have been every year !! And as for those of you who dont get why we return to the same place all the time - Trust me its not boring, go and then you'd see.
