Good price, just remember to buy a bit more memory!

It only has 256mb ram!! Don't buy it if you expect to be able to use it!! Not a good idea to use less than 512mb of ram for XP, ideally you should have 1gb.

Upgrading it wouldn't be economical either.

Why not? You can get 1Gb for around £9 now and 2gb for around £20, hardly much. As for the rest of the system people dont tend to upgrade laptops anyway. Not in my experience anyway. This is a good deal. Ive got one of these refurbs and they are like new. I wouldnt do any video editing on them but for surfing the net, and most other day to day tasks theyre easily up to the job.

It will run, but it will be omfg slow :p

If you do get this, you will certainly want to install more RAM (1GB ideal for XP)

********! XP will run with a little as 64MB RAM, I ran it for 3 yrs on 128 MB RAM, having word, internet explorer and usually something else running at the same time. Now I have upgraded it to 384MB RAM and it works only a little faster.

This is the same laptop I reserved at PC World last year for the same price.

But those @$$#0les at PC World refused to honour the order when I went to pick it up even though I had a reservation.

exactly i had xp running on 256mb before too on a laptop. You can expect it to do supr things but its fine for music, msn, movies, internet, work etc.

XP itself will run fine; it's the applications which will s.l.o.w. it all down - tried watching a DivX movie, while on YouTube and Word 2007?

One of my laptops runs XP on 256MB and I consider it too slow. I really, really recommend getting a RAM upgrade; the difference is crystal clear in my honest opinion.

It will run XP with 256MB, but for the sake of an extra £10-£20 it's a bit of a no-brainer to upgrade. The more you use xp and the more programs you install, the more memory it seems to need. Ah, I still remember my first computer, an Acorn Electron with it's massive 32KB - happy days!

the laptop is small as it has a 13in screen, whats the weight of the unit ? good price

Its not that heavy although i dont know the exact weight but its not as small as it could be - the screen maybe 13" but its in a case that could house a 15" screen - fairly large bezel. Im happy with it for the price but wish id paid the extra £30 for a 15" screen as im not really saving on size like i thought i would.

how can you type in word and watch a movie and surf the internet at the same time?? I bet you're not too productive!:p
