Ok so its DSG and its an EI systems but with one year warranty this is a cracking deal for an ultraportable.

the specs are not the best nowadays but bear in mind this is a hard to get 13.3" widescreen laptop for just over 200 notes - got to be agood deal for those who travel alot.

I bought one of these 3 weeks ago. I couldnt recommend it highly enough. Yes its not a top spec but it is fairly small, I wouldnt say its ultra portable as the screen is smaller but the bezel is quite large. However for a little over £200 delivered is great value. Most of these are items returned to the store for whatever reason, usually to do with someone finding a better deal or changing their minds etc.

Mine came in an unmarked brown box, well cushioned and with all its plastic inlays and stickers intact - not that you want these anyway but it makes it feel like everything is unused and untouched. Also when booting up it was the first time Windows had been booted - these refurbs are basically brand new machines. From what I see you save around £100 this way and still have all the usual guarantees. Cant go wrong really. HOT.

'tis only a celeron... but still a nice price for a small laptop
13.3" + DVDRW + wifi ... hot

Is the wifi built in, or are they just giving you a usb dongle (as some "wifi enabled PC world laptops" do )

This is a figure of speech! Many people have Xmas treats all year round, just like how Roast Turkey was an annual event... but now Turkey anyday and everyday! At low prices a lot of people will be buying one every month on UKHOTdeals irrespective of whether it is Xmas or whether it is needed!

But then there might not ;-)

I like to plan ahead...we had my daughters Christmas presents for 2 years bought and stashed away

My brother ordered one and a guy at work cancelled his order for another laptop to get this for his Mum, I should be on commission!!

'tis only a celeron...
The 5xx series Celerons are a single Core core (Core Mono anyone?). Pretty nippy, just no enhanced speedstep (EIST).
#27
Can the processor be upgraded to dual core or core2duo?.

#29
hang on here - what are you guys expecting for a sub £200 lappy

upgradeable this upgradeable that :-)

3.5% Quidco too, making this £192.51.

Great price.
#31
Hmm. I'm thinking this might actually be a far better choice for me than the Eee PC. It's cheaper. Granted, it's bigger in size, but far more powerful too...

Decisions...

Depends what you really want

the eee pc is smaller but a 13.3 laptop has a much better and usable screen size plus built in DVD drive and if its anything like my NEC S940 then its about the size of an A4 pad and about an inch thick, maybe less.

If I did not have the NEC I would have one.......

Thanks for the link elitom. It doesn't state the weight though.
Can someone who bought one tell me the weight and dimensions please?

Be Jesus!!! When do you start your Xmas 2009 Shopping, Sept 2008. lol:-D
#35
Gone for this. Just looking for a means of web browsing and basic word processing etc away from my desktop and had considered both a Nokia n800 and the Eee PC. However, this is more powerful and versatile at a very decent price. Paid £199 and hopefully down to £192 if quidco tracks - fingers crossed! Voted hot and thanks to the OP.

I bought the Core Duo (1.73GHZ) version of this laptop about 3 weeks back for my daugter (was gutted as the good dell deals where about at a similar time.) but for the 237.50 I paid it seems good and the celeron laptop here seems the same shell etc. I confirm it has S-video if it is of similar build to this one. Battery life is the only real downer about 90-100 mins on a full charge and mobile settings. Will measure and weigh it once I get the nipper off to sleep.
#39
Still not sure whether to go for this... it's small, so reasonably portable, but the 1hr or so battery life kind of defeats the purpose of taking it out and about... If it's to be used for home, then might as well opt for a lappy with a bigger screen...
#40
Does anyone know if these are available in stores? i will try pc world tommorrow to check the size and weight.
