Was £74.97, advertised at £50.
Have looked around on the net, cheapest is around £75 plus delivery on fleebay and £135 on other sites.

On the delivery page select Home Delivery which will show at £5 BUT on the final payment page is deducts the delivery charge as it thinks the item is £50, it doesnt see the discount :)
Just realised this also works with the Premium Delivery, so you can select a 2hr slot and it still takes off the delivery charge of £6.85.

What's more natural than to use the enormous flow of energy from the sun to heat your pool? Using Texsun's unique x-channel system, energy recovery is optimized, allowing you to heat your pool for free using the sun. El Niño solar collector system, manufactured by Texsun, is perfectly suited for heating small to medium sized aboveground pools.

Proven quality
The Texsun solar heating systems are manufactured on a fully automated, high technology production line. The design is durable with few components. The effective production and high energy efficiency together with a low price make the Texsun solar heating system an economical alternative for heating of all types of pools. The Texsun solar collectors have been tested and proved by the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute (SP).

High thermal efficiency
Through its unique x-channel system the Texsun solar collectors give high thermal efficiency ratings(n0 = 80.7 %) and very quick heat response times. The high ratings are due to:

Large, active area of absorption
Dynamic water flow inside the collector
Low volume of water
El Niño Basic Kit
The El Niño is the perfect solar collector for small-medium aboveground pools and can easily be integrated with the existing pool pump. It includes all the necessary components to connect your collector to your pool.

Note: Garden hose 12mm (1/2") is needed to connect the solar collector to the pool. Garden hose is not included . Intended for use with existing pool pump. Pump not included.

Product Benefits
. Heats the water to a pleasant temperature
. Low weight, simple to use
. Easy to stow away when not used
. Easy installation - you can use your existing pool pump
. Economic and environmentally friendly way to heat the pool

A heating system that can pay for itself
in one season! Splasher type swimming pools have the same
requirements as any other pool, they all need heat.
By investing in an El Nino solar heating
system you can expect to increase your pool temperature by approximately 7-10
deg C throughout the summer. In addition to enhancing the
A ‘Basic Kit’ includes the solar collector unit (2 pcs of solar collectors) and
coupling devices to connect the solar collectors to the pool. The only thing
needed in addition to the basic kit is a few metres of ordinary garden hose.
Basic kit is suitable for pools up to
7 m². For larger pools, the system is easily increased by adding more basic kits or an expansion kit.

An optional Frame Mounting Kit Is avalible please contact us for details

anyone ever used one of these?

We havent BUT i'm tempted to order one as hubby has been talking about sorting out a heater for our Fast Set pool, but the electric ones just take far too much electricity. So i'll be showing him this when he gets home.

Last weekend, when it was really hot, we finished filling ours with hot water and then left it for the day until later afternoon with the bubble cover over it. End result was the pool water was hotter than outside, bliss! :p

Is it Tesco's policy that if you arent happy with a product you can return it? If so it'd be worth buying to try, and if (like the electric one) you find it useless take it back and say you arent happy as its not working as it states.

Although I have a feeling this pic includes the Extension Kit for larger pools, so I think its probably just the one panel.

I'm certain it's just the one panel.
And you have to use your own hose and pump.

We're on Economy 7 and I have my heater on a time-clock so it comes on for the 7 hours of cheap night-time leccy. There is definitely a noticeable increase in the water temp but to run the heater during the day would be far too costly. However, if one used solar panels to continue the heating during the day then I'm sure the pool could be maintained at a nice temp but I am not convinced that these units would do enough to warrant the outlay. I know the number of proper solar panels that are needed to heat a pool and you would need several of these for them to make any difference.

The Tesco site says it comes with 1.8m² solar collector.
Their site suggests that this is only 1 piece.

I was going to ask what 2hr DS is but I think i've just worked it out.
2 hour delivery slot?

Edit, Tesco site states twice it is 1.8m² but the picture shows 3.6m² on the box.

Confusing.

Its only one got one today

Its about 2.8 m length, so long but not that wide.

I was thinking of using it as a solar water heating, putting it into a frame with glass, though not sure if it will melt from the heat?
#17
yup it was a 1.8 mtr box. as per previous post.

I liked the idea of this product , however it just does not work well.

The water flow through is restricted so much it will not keep the water pressure supply back to the pump and you run the risk of overheating your pump.

What sort of pump is it? is it one of the tiny cartridge pumps that come with the tesco Pools? If so then make sure the bypass valve isnt completely closed as these pumps are USELESS. I think they company behind the El Niño sell a booster pump but not sure if its in the UK or not.

Personally have had the El Niño heater for a couple of years now. The Kit I have is a 3.6m2 version with 2 panels. I suspect Tesco have tried to keep the price down on this and gone for a one panel version given as the splasher pools they see are so cheap.
I've a 12 ft Intex and have had nothing but joy from the solar heater system...The pump on my pool is a little better than those I can see on the Tesco site so I get a decent flow rate through the panels.
The El Niño itself does not require a large pump but the smallest pumps on the market are unfortunately USELESS.2 weekends ago I got the pool temp up from 17 degrees (NOT NICE) to 25-26 (VERY NICE) and as a previous owner of an electric heater which gave me no heat and huge bills, I have to say I think this product is a fantastic option. Fair play to Tesco for actually latching onto a product that is a viable environmentally friendly alternative to those bloody electric heaters.

There is however no escaping the science of solar- Its all about area..If you want 5-7 degrees extra in a 10 or 12ft splasher pool then you have to buy 2 but 1 will take the chill out of the water.

I have been onto the company that produce the units (made in sweden...actually made in sweden not CHINA) as i needed a plastic connector and I was impressed by the service they gave me.

I have recommended this to many of my friends and neighbours..I mean whats the alternative cold pool?? or an electric heater that will make yor meter spin out of control and still not heat the pool.

Dont glass it in!! On a warm day with no water circulating through it you run the risk of melting it.

This is the same as my kit a 2 panel 3.6m2 basic kit. The Tesco kit is a variation product of 1 collector and the connection kit (bypass).
