Not a bad price with the map, but just so people know "Burlap Cloth" turned out to be more like a rigid canvas-effect paper.

    I thought it was standard.... I didn't realise I'd got a limited edition :D

I thought the map was nice though :) Too many games these days don't have any maps, manuals etc. I miss the PC days when you'd get proper thick manuals, maps etc in the box :(

Can someone tell me if this game registers itself with Steam or any other stupid DRM upon install, as this will really put me off buying it as I've had enough of them.

Nah thats probably just Zavvis marketing jargon:

"You also get a spanking new black matt case to house your disc in and a shiney new plastic shrink wrap!!! "

Not sure but I think only the launch copies do. Although it's well past launch now so no idea if they're still clearing out old stock or I'm talking rubbish :D

The map isn't limited addition, you get with regular retail copies.

Be warned though, thousands of people are suffering with a major bug in this game that makes it frequently crash to desktop at anytime in the game (likely memory leak), and Bethesda don't seem to be doing enything about it yet.

Also, it's a pretty poor port, as shadow rendering is handled (badly) by the CPU rather than the GPU (a shortcut by Bethesda that saved the dev team a little work), so framerates aren't exactly great even with a high spec gaming machine (turning shadows down to low helps a bit).

And there's a few other irritating bugs, but other than that....

    The game is freaking amazing!

And there's already a few mods that make the already impressive graphics look even better.

    And there's already a nude mod :D.

My PS3 version from Tesco was meant to come with a cloth map but it's more like textured paper - is that right anyone know ?

Made it all the way to L3 :D in Dark Falls Barrow at the mom I think. First Elder Scrolls game I've played - jury's out at the mom. Like the scenery and puzzles but the combat is not great.

Clearly you haven't got a decent gaming machine then, this gets a solid 60FPS on ultimate details with every extra maxed out in 1080p on my old miderange 5870... a newer high end GPU will eat this for breakfast, even my Daughters budget GPU (5770) is benching it in the 40-50fps range at same resolution.

Key word highlighted in original post for your convenience.

As Highway72 said, I forced V-sync off through NV control panel and get anywhere from 50-240fps all ULTRA everything maxed on my GTX570.

    Agreed though, awesome game

I havent had any problems with it that affect my experience. I have sunk 30 hours and it has crashed twice. Not bad for a bethseda game this large. Also graphics are great.

well unless things have changed I was googling skyrim cloth map earlier and it appears the cloth map is pre-order/limited editiion only, its paper map if you buy now unless the place you buy from has some stock of the copies that come with the cloth map.

Burlap?? Haha more like textured paper...
    dreamager
Yes, burlap would be a type of canvas paper, and for a map with a game it's pretty nice paper, btu I think they all come with it for now. Awesome game :D but sadly shadows all look like that on most pc games these days :/
