Really looking forward to this game, but i don't tend to pre order games unless it's like a month before launch.

Great price, and very tempted as coolshop don't take the money until dispatch.

As for coolshop themselves, i've had no problems at all - great retailer IMHO.

The last game I pre-ordered from them (Civ 5), I returned unopened using their freepost returns service. (after discovering how crap the game was from the official forums)

A straight forward returns process, and was refunded promptly.
Anybody know if they still offer this freepost returns service?

What do I think?

I think that's a pretty good price! Can't wait :)

On top of the great price, free 1st class delivery, 5% quidco, and free returns, it appears they also have a loyalty scheme too!

For every £30 you spend with them you get 1 point.
Points can be redeemed for discounts. 1 point = £1.

I doubt Skyrim will appear cheaper than £21.97 between now & release!
Just have to cross my fingers and hope it doesn't turn out to be a consolized turkey.

I wouldn't buy anything from coolshop ever again after the experience I've had from them. They took over £50 from my bank last week without my consent and caused my bank balance to go overdrawn so now I have to pay £25 to my bank for going overdrawn.

When I complained to coolshop they denied taking the cash until I sent them an attachment of my bank statement. They said that they would refund the money that they took but the overdrawn charge is my problem as I should be checking my bank salance on a daily basis. Even of I did check on a daily basis then I would still be overdrawn and have to pay a charge. I've asked for contact details so that I can have another party to take on the issue I'm having with them but they havnt given me any info and even the person dealing with the complaint won't give me his surname. I'm going to take it further , I don't see why I should pay a fee that they caused through thuer incompetence. Absolute bunch of idiots, lucky I noticed the cash they extracted from my bank otherwise I would never see it again. Do yourself a favour and buy from somewhere else.

I had this happen to me too last year with coolshop where they charged me twice for 2 games. I spent over 3 months trying to tell them the problem with proof of my bank account etc. They just would not admit it even when the proof was clear so I just gave up as it was taking too much of my time :(

Saying that, bee.com are total thieves too and are worse than coolshop because my sister done 2 orders with them and the scammers got the money both times but no refunds and no games either. It was a debit card which she thought was covered and the bank tried to get it back but they couldn't so that didn't help either. Rubbish service as bee,com didn't bother to reply to her emails either. Stay clear.

Just a thought
Not sure quidco is going to work on this one, as the order is held on file for at least 6 months and then processed in November
Chances of getting paid are slim but still a corking price even without

reckon i'll be splashing out on whatever special edition they come up with for this one.

Let's hope they don't go for style over substance again =/

Do you get the game on the day of release when pre-ordering from Coolshop?

I only pre-order from GAME. You get double clubcard points this way (free credit towards your next purchase), cashback through Quidco, get the game on release day and their customer service is top-notch.

Oblivion was epic, and better than Morrowind, Skyrim looks even better, beefed up combat, better spell system. Improved graphics, and another huge world to explore. Can't wait haha.

Both Morrowing and Oblivion were 'top class'

The problem with Oblivion was that the enemies were generated based on the level of your character - which ultimately made the whole thing rather pointless. I believe they have resolved this in Skyrim, with certain areas having tough opponents irrespective of your level.

Yeah the leveling system was a bit pants, luckily the PC version had all sorts of mods to tailor the game to exaclty how you wanted to play. The improved levelling mods, improved menu mod, high res texture packs, combat mods and the beheading mods were essential lol.

unlikely to get cheaper especially for such a big title.
not actually played earlier ones as missed the steam bargains and not been cheap since afaik.
guessing my laptop wouldn't run it though.

still have trouble getting round how pc games can look alot better than their console counterparts but then new games on console probably wont run on the same pc. eg metro2033 (canirunit says NO)
better optimising for console or is console getting cutback further to fit?
or when people say 'it wont run' do they just mean everything maxed as many seem obsessed with?

Good price but since i didn't enjoy oblivion or fallout 3 i think i'll pass on this.

Dread to think what the rec specs for this game will be, Oblivion killed most rigs on highest settings when it came out.

Can't afford to upgrade my whole system. I have a Core 2 Duo E8500 at 3.85Ghz. Would this processor be too weak to play on high settings if I get an ATI 5870 card to go with it?
#22
Steam need to pre order this in their catalogue, so I can come home from work on the day of release and get straight into it.
#23
isnt this game series just single player WoW?

I tried Oblivion but the lack of other real people to interact with seriously deminishes any sense of acheivement. Nobody to show off your awesome loot to!

Both games were great, personaly I prefer morrowind, specially since spending 2-3 hours a night on it for a week, 2 weeks ago. If they didn't screw up the leveling in Oblivion and made the fast travelling less (turned it into a bit of an arcade rather then properly exporing in a RPG..... I know you didn't need to use it) then Oblivion could have been better than morrowind in many more ways than it was. They just tried to dumb it down a bit too much :-)

So I can't wait for this game but I hope they have learn't there lessons and managed to make it right... they managed it with fallout 3 so here goes for the best elder scrolls yet???

I have been waiting for this game for ages. I've played with Morrowind, and also with Oblivion.
When it arrives in the shops, I'm going to be the first downloading it from torrents!

Endorsing software piracy on these forums is probably not a smart move.

As well as the levelling the random oblivion gate levels were pants.
Less spells, smaller map, still enjoyed oblivion but morrowind was leagues
ahead of it - would love a HD remake of Morrowind

Daggerfall was one of the greatest games ever. In my top 10 of all time.
Elderscrolls series went downhill after that.

You can officially download it for free these days: http://download.cnet.com/The-Elder-Scrolls-Chapter-II-Daggerfall/3000-8023_4-10964310.html

It's a shame the playability of Daggerfall and to a lesser extent Morrowind were constrained by the hardware of the time.
If Skyrim manages to combine the scope of Daggerfall, with the graphics of Oblivion, solid & fun gameplay mechanics, and a good story it'll be a worthy successor to the series.

Thats the sole reason i dont like wow, the whole game is full of people flaunting they spend 23 hours a day online.

I like to sit and play and this kinda game is always good

This a pretty terrible analogy. I have put 100+ hours into both Oblivion and Morrowind, and probably about 70+ hours into World of Warcraft, and I can confidently say that the Elder Scrolls games blow WoW out of the water in every way (well, except social). Storyline is much more interesting, the worlds are much more immersive, and the quests don't just feel like they're there for the sake of levelling up.

Also, Oblivion was easily one of my favourite games of all time. I hate to be one of "those" people, but I'll be buying whatever ridiculously priced Collectors Edition they sell of this for 360. ;)

Is there not a new graphics pack out for morrowind that makes it look more like oblivion level of graphics. it's a couple of gig download. saw a link through the steam news.
