The Asda deal here is just a Toy. For not much more Tescos have a real guitar and amp - if you can wait while their site loads!

Edited By: Bertt on Nov 08, 2010 19:18: I made an insignificant typographical error...

My local Asda had someone playing it and the sound was rubbish.

Yep , I had mentioned on 6th November post 27 on the Wilkinson £40 guitar thread 8)
Didn't bother creating a new thread for it as someone earlier (post: 22) had mentioned they'd got one from Asda when it was £60 and were going to return it.

As already said, this is a toy and not a musical instrument. I bought one when it was £60, brought it home, had a look at it with the missus and she said, "that's ****".
The instructions say it is a toy throughout, so if you're happy with it on that basis, fine. For anyone actually wanting to play an instrument though, go buy the guitar instrument, not the guitar toy here.

Suffice it to say, this starter pack went back next day.

This is a toy you dimwits it takes batteries, for £76 you can get the real deal

For £40 you could get a hooker, and they might end up with a new brother or sister... what greater present can you give?

Just to be pedantic, plenty of "real" guitars require batteries to. My £300 Ibanez guitar for example does. Guitars that require some sort of battery power are coming more and more common as well.

But yes, this is a toy.

This guitar is exactly the same as a Fender squire strat. Once it is properly tuned and set up its a nice instrument for the money. The amp is obviously not the greatest but this should not be considered a toy really. Its full size, solid bodied and as such i advise people not to listen to the negative comments on here. Only the Amp takes a battery not the guitar itself. Would anyone pay the £80 for the Tescos one that is highly likely to be made in the same chinese factory or even £150 for a squire strat that is identical (i do mean absolutely identical including all parts) just because its classed as a toy? Maybe shipping tax is less for a toy than a musical instrument?

You can get left handed electric full size ones for about £80

The same site also does 3/4 size ones for £95

OMG!!! The old saying goes, you pay for what you get. All these supermarket cheap stuff are toys or trying to be cheap guitars.

I have been a guitarist for 20 years and the only place i ook for a guitar is a proper guitar shop thats cares about guitars, playing guitars and gives the best advice. Thats why i go to my local music shop. If your serious about playing guitar or want to buy someone a guitar. Go to your local Music Instrument store and get something proper for not much more money than this junk. If gives you a better chance of learning the intrument.

You dont buy proper jewellery or real furniture from a butchers, do you.

This is now £30 at Asda Halifax.

This aint no toy, its a full size Strat copy as good as a Squire Strat I had a few years ago. In the box is a stand, the battery amp (works a treat) some picks, spare strings and the tremelo arm which isnt shown in the picture, for £40 (well....£30 now) its a bargain - it even stays in tune !
