ELO began as an outgrowth of '60s UK psych-rockers the Move and the Idle Race, but when former Move frontman Roy Wood departed early in the game, Jeff Lynne fashioned the band as a high-tech Beatles for the '70s. Featuring a full-time string section, ELO picked up where "Strawberry Fields" left off, creating orchestral Britpop without the pretence of prog-rock. The band's slick, lush sound helped define '70s pop, and proved influential decades later to the likes of Air and the Polyphonic Spree.

Great group and good price. Have some heat and rep.
The cover on HMV's listing for this set looks similar to this one on Amazon which has 3 CDs including the Discovery album.....

Wonder if HMV's got the wrong pic in the listing or there's an error in the description?

Good spot yet again Andy!
I'll have me one of these, thanks heat n rep left & little ern, I hope your right, it will be even better value!
I'd look into the current remasters instead as the sound quality and packaging is in my opinion well worth a few extra quid. there weren't any bonus tracks listed on the track listings i saw which makes me presume it is the old cd masters this is taken from. The sound quality upgrade on the remasters is leagues ahead and you can find em for about £5 each.
The Diary of Horace Wimp is an absolute classic.
Loving it!
