Global warming what's that......:whistling: :p

Be interested to know if these throw out heat a reasonable distance as might get one to stand outside a new log cabin at that price

Do they throw out a reasonable heat then? We have a gas patio heater which gives out quite a good area of heat but obvioulsy these ones must be more directional?
#10
they also rip the electricity, cheaper and more efficient to get the gas ones.....although obviously they cost a fair bit more:(

Sounds like a load of hot air to me. :giggle:
#13
Might get 25 of them and put them in my garden, that should annoy the "green" neighbours :-D

You failed to notice your tired and overly crossposted link is about GAS heaters which this thread is about an electric unit. :whistling:

Can't you read properly? Links to a page that is about adverse effects of ALL types of patio heater.

Being cold sitting outside is nature's way of telling you it's time to go inside.

if you know anyone who works in woolworths (friends/family) they can get 30% off this product but next week only!

I'm one of the green neighbours I'm afraid, so it's cold for me. (I suppose you'll want AC in the garden shed next, just in case a hot summer day comes along :whistling: )

Not trying to incite a flame war here- this is not a discussion on global warming per se, it's the harmfulness of this product to the surrounding environment and is totally relevant since it is avoidable. Do you honestly believe remaining uninformed/ignorance is a good thing and that people will visit the misc section just to read up on global warming? I highly doubt it. I don't know how many flash floods, seasonal shifts and research it will take, but it will probably be too late.

I realise the world is full of contradictions, but a step in the right direction here isn't going to be detrimental to anyone. There is plenty of free speech on other topics, so why all of a sudden discriminate this one? A non-click on one thread isn't going to drive HUKD to bankruptcy, I'm sure.

You know, when the Titanic was sinking, the band was still playing music. Sad really.

The problem was that it went over the point being made, into throwing insults at those who don't agree with each other.

By all means state facts and figures about this actual item, but keep it civil and polite.

seems like a good deal, max power is 2kw, which is about 12p/hour, which would work out expensive for something running 24/7, but for a few nights a year it's not going to cost much. It would take a LONG time before the gas heaters work out cheaper, if ever, because those gas cannisters are much more expensive than mains gas.

How does it compare to the gas ones in terms of heat output?

guessing they are actually pretty useless, a gas heater is 13kwh, this is 2kwh.

I guess both are extremely efficient at converting energy into heat - that's a fairly easy thing to do, it's usually heat that's an unwanted byproduct.

So you'd actually need a few of these I reckon, not quite so cheap then.

Smallest gas heater is £80 from B&Q, a 4.5kw tabletop one, 15kwh is £175
