Also useful for remotely detonating bombs James Bond style :p. Not sure I'd trust this thing enough to wire into the household mains TBH.

Same here, would not risk connecting to 240v mains supply in my house!!

This has many uses from remotely opening your Garage door to remote detonating some C4 or anything else explosive :?

Any ideas of use?

controlling any electrical circuit wirelessly... so you are the only limit to the uses you can find. lol.
I cant really see why you wouldnt want to connect it? whats the worse that can happen, im sure you all have trip circuits in your house...
can control lights, power points, automatic gates, automatic doors, anything you cant be bothered to walk to and switch.

In Store From Currys for just a few pence more £4.49, and probably much safer:

I agree i would pay the little extra for the Currys one or ones sold in Tesco / Maplins.

I have had quite a few good items from Dealextreme but i dont like the look of this item !

seems you cant reserve and collect the currys one..so £19.95 delivery unless buying something else lol

I have the Curry's ones. I also have another type. Both types suffer same fault. I even found the fault in a shop selling these.

If you hook up something that is very near the rated current for the device, like a one bar fire, or blow heater, the relay sticks. Then you have to go and unplug it anyway! Until they fix these kind of faults I would not touch any more of them with a bargepole.

These can also be opened and the fuse replaced, if you know about soldering.

Loads in my local store.

Although they are rated at 1kW personally I would only use them for switching a few hundred watts or so. I use one to switch my TV off (thats off from standby) and I use another for the sink waste disposal unit (saved drilling a hole in the worktop).
No problems so far.

try and by this for a grarage door opener even from Maplin and you will pay at least 5 times the price.
I think its a great deal for am integrated solution.
For a plug in then use the items suggested in the replies to this post.
Has my vote though.
Good find
