10m speaker cable, £1.85 delivered, Amazon (Electromark UK)

After the chromecast price dropped so much, I bought several to replicate Sonos in my house with some mini amps and adapters. Bought this speaker cable, and thought it was really cheap and does the jo…

Is this bell wire or thicker?

This has an effective solid core diameter of 0.5mm. Which is the same size as typical "bell wire".

That thickness (or lack of it) can be problematic for longer runs of speaker cable. For example, 20m of it, used with 4 ohm speakers, will result in speakers with an output of only a quarter power maximum (the amp will see twice the impedance, so will only output half the power and half of that power will be lost in the wires.). The added resistance will also affect damping. Turning the volume up to compensate can lead to clipping and distortion as the voltage swing that the amplifier can deliver will run out long before it reaches its rated power output.

Hope that helps!

Thanks. Helpful post.

I've never bought doorbell wire, but this stuff is pretty thin. Does the job for me though, and I'm quite picky with sound quality

Should also say that if you buy 2, they will deliver it as one 20m length (just in case somebody needs a length over 10m

Anyone else wanna troll? This guys actually really annoying me. the long and short of it is, ONE torch out of 4 they sent me last week wasn't finished, and the other seemed ok, until the batteries THEY supplied leaked the morning after I received them. They were NOT it the torch upon arrival, so THEY SENT RUBBISH ONES (in a sandwich bag loose by the way).
I already said, i don't believe the batteries would leak within 12 hours, unless they were already dead,

if you know anything about how batteries are constructed, unless they are visibly severly physically damaged, batteries consist of a metal pot that forms one electrode this contains the liquid or jelly electrolyte and a central conducting rod as the other electrode. Discharging the battery dissolves the metal pot and eventually allows the electrolyte to leak out. Old fashioned batteries used to leak very badly because they only had a cardboard jacket and they could start leaking well before they were fully discharged.

When people leave batteries for months inside a device, and later find they have leaked, it's because the battery has self discharged causing the above to happen

This doesn't happen in 12 hours,.........

if the torch had the batteries inside for a long time before you received them, they would already be dead, therefore you shouldn't have left them in the torch.

Now, that is my last reply.

Please relax a little too

Had 4 of these delivered last time they were on here, one wasn't finished right so wouldn't take the batteries, and the batteries they supplied leaked in another which now doesn't work. Not really even worth 1.50

Batteries leaking isn't any fault of this

If you look in the available sellers bit, this sellers has BATTERIES INCLUDED in the condition column, so is their fault.

No........ when i stated batteries leaking is no fault of the device, i didn't ever stipulate that was dependent on whether they were supplied with it or not, that was someone else.

If you leave batteries in anything when not in use, they WILL leak, you should remove them when you're not using them

Modern batteries only leak when they have been discharged way over that of a usable level

It is very much YOUR FAULT, if you leave dead batteries inside, or use or keep batteries that have passed their use by date

I actually can't believe you've said that.. THEIR torch, THEIR batteries, less than a day in use,. Ing nWhy is the batteries leaking and ruining

They leaked within 12 hours of having them in the torch. Really?? My fault????

Yeah, modern batteries don't leak unless they are extremely discharged, they don't use cardboard in them anymore, this 12 hour thing is a new one to the thread, im pretty sure you would have mentioned this earlier above, given that it's a pretty relevant fact, AND very rare! so i call false on that claim

If the batteries worked when you got the torch, they wouldnt have had chance to leak, if they didn't work, they shouldn't have been left inside

Either way, i'm done with the thread, argue amongst yourselves now

LED mini torch £1.50 delivered @ amazon/electromart-uk

Super bright 9 LED mini torch only £1.45 from amazon with free delivery. RRP says £29.99 but I doubt that very much. Still a good bargain if you need a little pocket torch.

£2.15? I'm sure i got these from poundland not too long ago...

Possibly. And presumably they delivered them to your door for free too, like Amazon? :3

Bit pointless pointing out the free delivery when it’s more than double the price. X)

It's an extra £1.15 - for which you get a better torch than the Poundland ones (which aren't the same at all) and delivery to your door. Sounds like £1.15 well spent to me - given that the nearest Poundland is miles away............:)

Are now it's a better torch, not everyones Poundland is miles away :)
Now this really is a better torch ;)

1000 lumen hat ? You want to be careful aircraft don`t land on you! I do like a nice torch and though i am lacking a lux meter to measure luminous emittance , These little things rock!
