Hope this deal is allowed, as Amazon sellers seem to be allowed these days

Was looking for an "electronic cigarette" type thing and having missed out on the groupon one for £18 (which sold out some 4,500 units despite not attracting much heat on here - a chilly -14 in fact) I had a search of google and came up with these - much cheaper than the groupon deal, and from what I can gather a UK supplier (lots of comments in the groupon deal about buying from china and waiting 30 days for shipping, also the groupon deal had a delivery time of 30 days plus)

In fact its so cheap I am wondering if I have missed something, from what I see you get 1 cigarette, 1 charger, 10 refills - all for less than £4

Also on Amazon you can get 30 refills (3 packs of 10) in various flavours (B&H, Marlborough etc etc) for under £3

Product reviews are generally excellent (4* average), and the e-cigarette is the same size as a normal one

I'm going to give it a go, was going to try to give up (giving up is easy, I've done it hundreds of times!), but don't particualirily want to give up nicotine, just the £200 a month me and the wife blow on fags.

EDIT
Original deal was @ £3.90 for Marlborough flavour, new deal (which is even cheaper) is for Golden Virginia refills. (Thanks Markie)
The direct link for the new deal is:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004SOL15W/ref=oss_product

The price goes up and down - look around the links on Amazon - just seen one a quid cheaper, free shipping.

Anybody not smokin ever tryied this electronic fags? Just courious can you addict to this?

Used one of these a few weeks ago and I was amazed tbh. Problem is these have nicotine in them and that's not going to help you quit. If you really want to cure your addiction go to your docs and ask to be prescribed champix, there's nothing better imo.

Looks OK....but there are definitely better models out now...definitely go for the larger pack as you will need 2 batteries at least. as for buying refills, your better off buying e juice from a supplier like Paradise Vape (they have lots of great flavours available in different strengths ands much cheaper than carts....the mint tobacco gives a great hit.

Nicotine isn't harmful.....it's the other 3000 chemicals in a fag that are killing you....so you really can puff an e-cig guilt free.

Problem?? Nicotine isn't harmful. Its the nicotine I want - not the tar / cost / smell / unsociability

And "amazed" - in a good way presumably? In terms of flavour / nicotine hit?

Although I haven't heard of champix, what is it? But as stated in the op, I don't want to give up, just want to save money. At circa 5p a cartridge and cartridges giving you 3-10 cigarette equivalents, thats about 2p a fag going on conservative estimates.

Can you refill these cartridges? Or do you need something else? 2p a fag sounds cheap enough to me

Doh, really? Your addiction is always there and you are always going to be tempted to smoke for real. These are a good substitute for a while but they are not forever. Champix is the bees knees for quitting, its not without side effects though.

You buy a bottle of e-juice and put a couple of drops into a standard cartridge once it's dry10m costs about £5 but you can get better prices on larger amounts 10ml lasts the heaviest of smokers/vapers a week and 2 weeks for an average smoker.

I've used an e-cig for 3 years and I wasn't even looking to give up smoking....i was just so impressed that I tried one and stopped smoking fags.

I've ordered a couple of different flavours, worth a try as I never tried any before. Thanks OP, fingers crossed it works.

there were worries that these could be harmful too.

turns out in america they discovered that theres a chemical/poison in it worse than the ones in normal cigarettes.
your just swapping one way of killing yourself for another.

Not harmful?! 60mg of nicotine is enough to kill an adult :-P. Yeah it's not a carcinogen and its unlikely that you'll ever absorb 60mg at once from smoking but it's still highly toxic and even small amounts are still harmful.

Having said that, these are obviously healthier than smoking and said the nicotine in them stops you from quitting is silly. Isn't the idea that you ween your way off it slowly?

there are thousands of chemicles in your food that if you ate 60ml in one go would kill you.

The problem is they are not regulated and I've read some articles that suggest those of Chinese origin could harbour harmful chemicals. Also there have been no long term studies on health impact as yet. I've no doubt they are less harmful than tobacco but to say they are completely harmless, as of now, is rather naive imo.

Propylene glycol is the chemical that makes the vapor, it's the same stuff that's used in smoke machines....there is also a veg based alternative, I vape a 50/50 mix of both

I gave up smoking decades ago (easily), but have taken up the electronic version. Nicotine without the carcinogens. Yes, it is addictive, but I don't have a problem with that.

There used to be a question on a standard psychological test: "They are putting poison in my food- true or false". If you answered true, it meant you were suffering from paranoid delusions. I imagine these days at least half of those asked would answer true. I wonder if anyone still uses that test. They seem to have dropped the inkblots (I hear, I haven't been tested recently myself).

depends on what model you have been quoted on....if it's the better DSE901 kit which still retails for over £26 it's not to bad.

Thalidomide was extensively tested as well! And how many years did it take for that one to be sussed out?

Voted hot on this deal as a deal (even though I no longer smoke and these would probably tempt me to go back to the real thing) but just pointing out that "extensively tested" and "made in China" doesn't necessarily make them safe. By the way, there is also cyanide in apple pips so make sure you take the pips out before juicing the apples. Something else to worry about.

Thalidomide was sold in a number of countries across the world from 1957 until 1961 = 4 years

E-cigs have been on sale for a few years now and are used by millions of people....can anyone find one reported serious health issues or death caused by Vaping an e-cig?

E-Cigs have only been out since July 09. That's hardly long enough to study any possible long term effects.
Because this isn't regulated and there are no policies in place as to how it is manufactured, anything could be going in it - anybody can produce it and sell it worldwide. That puts me off.

Ordered with a pack of menthol cartridges as well. Hope they fit. Does anyone know if they are a standard size? Can you buy cartridges from elsewhere?

Thalidomide was a very good drug, with few side effects compared to equivalents. That's why it was widely used early on once it was released. The one disasterous side effect was not discovered right away for obvious reasons, and because drugs are not trialed on pregnant women. I believe it is now being used again, under tight control and with the strictly applied contraindication that it is not prescribed for women.

If aspirin had been tested as thoroughly as we now test drugs, it would never have been released. It causes rats to have babies with "thalidomide" type birth defects.

There are two main sizes. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be clearly specified. You can also find these at the online Hong Kong discount places like priceangels and dealextreme.

If people are intrigued by this deal, by all means try them, but be aware they are an older design without spares....you would be better off buying a DSE901 which comes with 2 batteries and a better quality atomiser with cartridges and spares are readily available.

There a plenty of e-cig forums if you need further advice or reassurance from people that actually know what they are talking about.
