never buy an ex display tv the would have been on for 1000's of hours and have 1 or 2 years life left in them if even that
you do know TVs have 60000 hour lifespan and that info from 2010

doubt it that would be around 7 years on non stop, most tv's dont even last that long.
Cheap(ish), not great, may suit some (that's called balance!).

The panels are all made in Turkey, this is cheap at £100 for what you get, heat added.
ohh the tv Nazis are in - bush is just a name all the panels come from same place !

Not a nice deal, Buzz, but you can't be right with them all, buddy. :)

Ha yeah, think im gonna knock consoles on the head (_;)
The recent deals suggest the intrinsic value of the PS3 is currently £300, so I think £260 - £280 will be the next 'heat' range. :o
HELL YEAH! £300! I should be an investor with all the predictions I get right~

I hate posting console deals. we all have different views of what the price should be. and there's so many deals on them they change every hour :(

Hard work console posts. I tend to avoid them.

It's advertised as £239 on here but when u go to get deal it's £255 any ideas as to why ???
My Internet isn't good were I am this weekend but if you look at the 24" post it will give you some some links people posted for dongle. All I can say I am very pleased with the smaller 24" which I use in my caravan. Smart and sleek..
anyone who's bought one of these received it yet? I'm very tempted by this, just wondering what's it's like in reality. Thanks!

had this tv for a year, bought via Argos for £219. had the dreaded white screen,
, 10days out of warrenty, had to get independent repair to give note before argos will refund pro rata.would buy bush again.
Mine arrived and was dusty (in the crevices on back of tv) Switched on and just a white screen.

Hopefully they'll sort this out for me quickly.

I have this tv in my room. 3D isn't amazing but barely use it anyway. Great tv for the price :) would recommend
Had this TV for just under a year, its held up well, quality is great, no motion blur as some are saying, only problem is the audio which can be solved... Great budget TV, i highly recommend
I bought one of these when they were available from Argos' ebay account. Amazing value for money, the 3D is OK but you do have to sit in the sweet spot to get the best effect.
I use mine as my PC monitor and have been extremely happy with it & it's OK for gaming although perhaps I have incredibly low standards lol.

DVI doesn't carry sound but the associated phono cables and TV phono sockets do, however everything I tried along with the experiences of others when I googled all failed to produce anything but occasional crackling.

Other than this one flaw I like everything about the TV
Your DVI is coming from a PC right? The headphone jack at the back doesn't work?

I've got this TV. Picture is good, and the sound is surprisingly good for a flat screen, much better than both the Panasonic and LG we have. The smart stuff if you use it is well designed and fast (unlike the Panasonic)

The only criticism I have is that its impossible to get sound into the TV if using DVI.
DVI (digital video interface) doesn't carry sound. It's nothing to do with the TV manufacturer.

Nice find.

Looks like you can make it WiFi compatible with a Veezy 200 dongle which can be bought from Argos for £25.

I bought a £30 Netgear dongle from Pixmania so I could use it with other things if it tool my fancy. Works a treat.

Powerline adaptors or the tp-link nano router/AP that are regularly on offer here for under £15 would be better value.

"Better value" depends on your outlook. The Netgear dongle I suggested is only £30, doesn't take up two power sockets, just hangs behind the TV out of sight (and powered by one of the TV's USB ports) and can be moved to any device you want to make wireless.

Homeplugs have their place (I have some) but wireless is better unless you plan on copying large amounts of data around your network.

I'm also not sure TP Link's homeplugs are that good. I've had a second pair now break and refuse to connect or see each other. First time happened within two weeks of owning them, so straight back to Amazon. Second time is 18 months later ... so they're not very resilient in my experience. Great when they work though.

Link here if anyone's interested in WiFi dongle for £30. Better than the £25 Argos one as it can be used on any device with an ethernet port in the future; Argos dongle will only ever work with your TV.

Only about the size of a credit card and about 1cm thick.

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/wifi-network-card/netgear-wnce2001-100pes-universal-wireless-n-to-ethernet-internet-adapter/06244090-a.html
I still stand by that the TP-Link nano router I mentioned is better value (which is wireless, not homeplugs), especially when on offer for under £12, which it has been on and off: http://www.hotukdeals.com/search?action=search&keywords=tp-link+tl-wr702n. It too can run off the TV USB port.

Whilst not as cheap as it was, it's still only £17.98 at Amazon.

Sorry, on your original post I only saw "homeplugs" and my eyes didn't travel much further than TP-Link lol oO

I still don't rate Powerline adapters just from my own experience, but that nano-wotsit you linked to does look like good value and seems to do the same thing as the Netgear I posted. I think I'd give that a go if I hadn't already shelled out for my Netgear one :)

I bought two from Argos and they're fine for a cheap TV.
The website just has that professional look, that makes me feel completely comfortable giving my card details to them :{
Not a bad TV, but be warned there seems to be no code as yet for your Sky remote to work the TV, also no support as yet for Netflix.

Some Q&A's from Argos

Neither hot or cold from me as I don't know how much these size TVs usually cost.

If you want an even bigger screen size for 1/4 of the price though, get a projector.

I have the Epson TW3200 and it rocks.

Apparently the human eye cannot even see the difference with 4k, so unless you have better than 20/20 vision, its a waste of money unless you get a 200" TV and sit 50 foot away from it!
Well, this report says otherwise...
4K Resolution Is Visible vs 1080p on 55″ TV from 9′ Viewing Distance.

If people don't believe this then pop down to your local Currys or Richer Sounds and see for yourself. If you can't see the difference from 9 ft then it probably says more about your eyesight than it does the telly!

Irrespective of that, these are going to need to come down the best part of a grand - and we start to get some 4k content - before most people will even consider them.

Dear Mr XXX,Thank you for your John Lewis price match regarding Samsung UE55F9000 LED 4K Ultra HD 3D Smart TV, product code 82451013.In order to apply a price reduction on a purchase, the criteria in our pricing policy must be met. I regret that after review the request you have submitted does not match all or parts of this policy. To match a price request, the competitor must trade on the same basis as us, for example we will not match online only retailers, mail order only or show-rooms attached to internet-only orders.Unfortunately, Electronic Empire are an online only retailer with no UK high street presence. This means that the do not match the same terms and conditions set by John Lewis. On this occasion I regret that I cannot match the price offered. If you would like to view more information about Never Knowingly Undersold and our pricing you can do so on our website:http://www.johnlewis.com/inspiration-and-advice/never-knowingly-undersold-policyI am sorry I have not been able to reduce the price on this occasion. If you require any further information or assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Electronic empire do have a showroom in high street and hence satisfying JL criteria.
I bought this TV last week instore price matched at £1689 digital direct and received a refund of £73 yesterday, pricematching Electric empire!!
Great TV just bought the 46 inch at JL, ten days to deliver over the internet. They did price match Richer Sounds which was on a little cheaper. If you don't know what to buy with the cash back ( Should really read Samsung product voucher ) try a Samsung Tablet. Connects with the TV easily, play music, films photos, browse the internet as your tab becomes a keyboard, and you can use it as a remote with the App.
Good product and was definitely a better picture over TVs around a grand.

This is Sony's base model (R4) reasonable specs but the W6 & W8 offer significant quality and features improvement. 42" W6 around the £500 mark, 42" W8 around the £700 mark.
mehh sony not as nice to use as my dads samsung but then again at least you dont have to go through a hundred button presses just to turn on flipping subtitles?

Don't worry I will phone the company I bought from in the morning, maybe it a faulty tv will get it replaced, after all the company is has quiet good reviews.
Oh no! That's bad news. Did you get it from JL? If not, get it refunded and then priced matched by them
Mine arrived today... Set it up.. Was watching and changing channels .. And guess what... It stopped working. Checked power source. Changed fuse.. No joy... It's broke. I am not sure about this tv...I can hear it clicking but no power. Don't know what's wrong... Will ask supplier for new one.
well done!
Got my confirmation of the price match with John Lewis. I Have 28 days to decide whether I want to buy up to ten of them...

DVD not bluray
Cheers op, been looking for something like this for a while, only thought is whether to go for its blu ray big brother mmmm. Heat added anyway
Does this play bluray films?
I have the bw720 and it is fantastic. I lost loads of films and programmes that the kids liked when my last sagem box died. The recording onto bluray is fantastic. you can get 10 or more films on a disc. Or less if they are hd. Over Christmas the box paid for itself with all the animated films that were on. I can also record whole series. The Simpson's etc. The price of this pvr is worthy of heat but I would pay more and get a bluray pvr. This is like an infinite size of hard drive. Bluray discs on the internet are dirt cheap.
But how does it compare to the Humax?

Well, its not a deal until you have proved it was price matched.

if the tv isn't as good as similar priced competitors then its not a good deal..the better deal would be the better item.

some people will not get that though unfortunately

I disagree with that, what you deem to be "better" may not be seen the same by somebody else which is subjective. The point surely is whether or not the posted item can be gotten for less money elsewhere, making it a good deal, if you want one or not is irrelevant.

For example if someone posted a deal for a £100k Ferrari that was £10k cheaper than anywhere else you can't say it's not a good deal because you prefer Lamborghini and because the lambo is only £95k

I think too many people make that kind of snap judgement and instantly vote something cold because they believe something else is better rather than voting on the product and price in question leading to lots of deals on here not getting the heat they probably deserve.

Seems sad to spend so much money on something that displays 90% rubbish on it.

you do realise you can watch whatever you want on these new modern tvs. you dont have to watch rubbish lol

I read today the uptake on internet tv is rather low compared to tablet use - I do have an internet tv

I agree it's expensive for a TV but it's the cheapest price I've seen for this telly which makes it hot in my eyes.

Never been drawn to plasmas for different reasons and I don't think there is that much to choose between the different technologies nowadays

Hi Laubio - well all I can say is the Sony is good and has a nice minimalist sleek look too - remember the HD audio is available on the HTAS5 providing your player (bluray player/ps3 slim etc) does the decoding - then you set to output LPCM and the HD audio comes flooding through unsullied....
The sadder thing is, I've got a what-is-now a long list of films I've been putting off watching because I was going to get a sound system and was gonna be sad and hope to enjoy it more. Literally have been mulling for a couple of months now and still not decided. Think I will go with Sony as most people seem happy with it and does cover HD and 3D audio which the yamaha doesnt. The only thing putting me off is should anything go rong or I want to upgrade one part of it, then it would be more difficult than if I had the yamaha. Oh...and the fact that im gonna have to spend £177 to get surround sound! :)

thanks guys, yeah I noticed that too.

I just really dont know what to get. this or something like the yamaha YHT196 at richersounds. been mulling over this way too long.... :(

I had the very same dilemma, in the end I had a few amazon vouchers which helped me decide on the HTAS5 (as the seller is on Amazon).

I also have a Sony TV. In the end I decided that both systems are bottom end but with great reviews for what they are. Personally, I like the fact that the Sony does not have a separate receiver and everything is built into the sub, just less clutter which keeps the other half much happier.

Hi Laubi02,

I ended up ordering for £171 from AV lounge via amazon market place - maybe check it out there if you still want it and don't mind paying an extra £6....

I purchased from AV lounge also as I had amazon vouchers, however I had to pay £6 delivery so total of £177 - loving the sound and happy with AV Lounge's service
