Could someone explain the business behind fake branding.

OK I understand a company say like Blaupunkt doing this because their real company has died, so they've nothing to lose by making some £££ off selling their name to add cachet and value to cheap foreign tat.

But I thought JVC still operates in other electronic sectors, still making top quality stuff... so why on earth would they risk their reputation for easy money in the short term?

Same with Panasonic, I really don't understand what's going on :(
Personally I would avoid. Had a look at this in Currys & it just looked really cheap in terms of build quality.

You'd be better off going for the 43 " Blaupunkt posted today (Tesco) or the 43" Seiki (AO.com)
oos
Apparently not a good company as the goods are returns & are difficult to deal with.

Good morning biggsilly,
I'm not sure what you mean by troll, I'm just trying to help with your writing in English; I understand how difficult it is if it is not your first language (I have similar problems when I write in German).
I think you should have included a comma between the two clauses in your first sentence. Note it is sentence and not sentance. There was no need for a question mark at the end of your first sentence (it was a statement, not a question), self-appointed is hyphenated and there is no need for a capital letter in police (it is not a proper noun in the context you have used it).
Best wishes,

Go away troll (a troll (/ˈtroʊl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting off-topic messages in an online community with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion,[3] often for their own amusement..)

It was merely a light hearted dig at your pedantic comment about the ' in the wrong place and obviously the "Sentance?", "Gaol" reference went over your head. Have your fun but not at my expense, I am sure you will have the last word. So welcome to the Biggysilly Ignore list.http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/sleep/yawning.gif

Wouldn't recommend buying from these guys, a friend of mine got a tv from them and it broke down in the first week. Apparently it was brand new but it wasn't because the tv was all setup when he turned it on

Took it back to em and they said they've got no record of purchase from them even though he has a receipt which was very strange, thankfully his bank reversed the payment through credit card

Better going to richer sounds

Closer to perfection is the Panasonic 65CZ950/952 but will set you back £8,000.
Just bear in mind that this range is not 'perfect' the picture demonstrates some issues as detailed below from a post on AVF

Seems that most 65's if not all have some sort of yellow stain or streak, some vertical, some horizontal, some middle, some at the sides but rarely both. This cannot be seen with normal viewing, it only shows up with snow scenes or web pages

Its one of those things that if you expect perfection you will likely be very disaapointed and paying £2-3.5k for a TV I am guessing most people expect damn near perfect viewing, just make sure before you buy you do your homework as some people have had 3-4 sets and sent them all back due to the issues they see on certain viewing (sports seems to be a problem too)
These should start to slowly drop in price now that the 2016 LG models have been announced.

Article on HDTVTest here.
Really? The 65" for 2500? That's crazy. I saw it for 3699 in Currys/PC World/JL and thought that was a pretty good price. It's come down a lot!

I think because it is not brand new, something that should have been in the title, also the price is not great as brand new 42" lg was around 270 ish recently from argos plus a 10 pound voucher, that deal might still be on.

Has anyone noticed that the companies Electronic World, Discount AV Direct and Cheap LED TV (there may be other ones too) all have the same address (208 Bromford Lane, Erdington, Birmingham) and phone number (0121 327 3273)? I get dubious when spending ~£700 that it is not all a big con? If you have bought stuff from them and have positive feedback, please feel free to share

Get 6yr warranty free under English law for electricals so why are people still paying for it.
really? Care to elaborate?
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/54...........happy reading :-)
Its not strictly a 6 year warranty, you have six years to make a complaint to the retailer not the manufacturer, as your contract is with them. If the goods are not fit for purpose or do not last a reasonable amount of time. You only a get a partial refund which decreases as time goes on, plus if the retailer gets really **** its up to you to show there was an inherent fault. I ve used this a couple of times now and got partial refunds after 2 years plus, so always worth a go.
Very interesting.Thanks for the info!

Do you know if you can get picture and picture with the TV. (2 output on the same tv side by side (split screen))?

TBH I don't have a cable/sat connection nor an antenna to test it. (don't wanna pay TV License -_-)

BUT. If you wan't to watch split screen live TV and play HDMI 1/2/3/4 at the same time. Yes, that's possible.

I use Skype and play PS3 at the same time. It's quite nice.

"uh huh.. uh huh.. yeah mum; damn it ! who shot me?" lol, its fun!

I have this telly, and I should say, it scores 5/5 in looks department; bet its dumb as fawk. Its slow. UI is useless, and apps keep forgetting me.
My 2011 samsung "smart" (semi) was faster than this.
I only pray to god that someone leaks out the new (android based) firmware for 2015 models and someone else ports it to this TV. I'd die a happy man.
If you have cash to splurge on, get the tv.
also, I've compared this with w829, and the picture looks ugly on w829.
edit: all sony tvs come with 5 year guarantee.

Do you know if you can get picture and picture with the TV. (2 output on the same tv side by side (split screen))?
Unsurprisingly JL knocked back my price match request.
I was going to buy this but then read the reviews of the seller... They state, whether rightly or wrongly, that all items are returned to them under your own steam to one of their 6 branches. You then have to collect it from them when repaired. Most of their historical reviews on line are pretty scathing too, monies taken, no goods, ignored calls, false promises.

Me? I would pay more and get better service. Or get a reputable retailer to look at their price as opposed to the refurbished one. Or look at the Sony refurbished store online. I ordered a 50" from them this afternoon with their 10% Valentine discount.

Within 30 minutes I had an email stating thanks for the order and another email from the courier with a next day tracking number.

As for AVForums, well... I've never met such a pious bunch of knobs. Especially their 'moderators'.

"graded" means "refurbished" - could be a torn package, an ex-display, a return etc.,

The reduction here doesn't justify the risk.

And a retailer who says WAS £1899.99 for this TV can't be trusted.

Can anyone on here justify spending £1200 on a Television? oO

What a stupid post. I'm currently eyeing up a £2400 TV, site is about saving cash & getting deals, not fretting about getting 1p off a tin of beans.

Ps - This TV isnt that good & I'd personall wait for another better deal.

I am in the same boat, what size you looking at? I would like a 4k 65in! But def need to shop around as some prices are over 3k!

I'm looking at 55-65" 4k, HEVC, HDMI 2.0 etc - found a Samsung 65HU7100 for £2300 - but it looks like its a euro model given the Google search online. The 55HU7500 is also looking quite good, coming in around £2k with a soundbar.

No rush though, so I may wait to see what December brings :)

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-dvd-blu-ray/televisions/large-screen-tvs-32-and-over/samsung-ue65hu7200-smart-4k-ultra-hd-65-curved-led-tv-with-sound-bar-ultra-hd-tv-video-pack-10094266-pdt.html

Any good ?
Bardo
Personally I wouldn't touch a 4K television yet as the technology is still maturing. You could spend £1200 on this set only to discover that you cannot feed any 4K footage into it as it has an older implementation of the HDMI standard. Until 4K Bluray arrives and Sky launches a 4K service, I wouldn't buy anything. And anyway, what are you going to play on it in the meantime other than a few oversaturated demos?

This TV does appear to support HEVC. Does anyone have any recent experience with the seller ?
RLC59
graded maybe, £1200 but still second hand

My issues with graded LED TVs is that most likely they were returned due to panel uniformity issues, which some may not notice hence they try to resell them again and again.

I'll add my two pennies worth for the pro plasma debate, I got my 42" Panasonic Viera back in 2009 from a deal posted here (thanks hotukdeals) I've used it practically every day since I got it, for all types, watching terrestrial tv, hd cable tv, blu ray, dvd, playing games (for stupid amounts of time in some cases I'm looking at you Skyrim) and to this day, touch wood, it's as good as the day I got it, with no green lines, no picture degradation, no colour loss or screen burn. The only down point of it is that it was one of those 'hd ready' sets so the resolution let's it down especially if I'm close up to it. But other than that, I cannot fault the picture reproduction, deep blacks, vivid colours, and unless i'm sat less than 5 foot away it's still sharp and clear with HD content.

It's a shame to hear Panasonic are retiring/retired their plasma range, as I know with all the will in the world, my set isn't going to last forever and I was considering getting a full HD model in the Viera range but I guess I don't really have a choice if they're not continuing with Plasma technology. Any suggestions on what type to go for? I'm not arsed for 4k, 5k, 8k, 200k resolutions, i've seen them in the shops and they are very pretty but I can't see there being much content available for quite a while in that format, especially streaming wise. Just a decent Full HD set that has a really nice picture that comes close to plasma?

Why only 6 months warranty?
because everyone I know who's bought a plasma starts to get green/black lines on the screen shortly after 6 months
I've got a plasma and it will be 2 years old this Xmas, and the picture is still perfect. I don't think you have your facts right. How many people do you know with a wonky plasma? 8)
Brother inlaw has had 2 x lg 50" one was replaced after 4 months on new for old insurance which lasted about the same time and hes currently replacing it now, next door neighbours did exactly the same (toshiba) only one more a work mate and his lasted about a year which isnt great imo.. Granted it could be a coincidence but everyone else i know has led/lcd and guess what, theyre all fine.

I think people have been harsh in doubting you.

Which insurance replaced it, his home insurance or his car insurance?
They don't make plasma tvs anymore....old tech. It'd be like buying a video tape recorder instead of blu ray....

Well I've got a Panasonic PX80B bought in 2008, still going strong, my folks have the same tv they got in 2009 still going. I have a PWD8 42 480p from 2003 I think still going brilliantly in the kids room, and a 65" panasonic in the living room from 2007 still going great guns.. So what is your point ?

Woah. Were did they dig up this dinosaur from? You can get modern FULL HD 50" Tvs with HD freeview for this price or there abouts nowadays. Obviously not the best of brands yes, but still with specs millions miles better than this.

Cant vote this hot sorry.

You can't get a 1080p 50" plasma for anything near this price.

Ya you can.. Or you can get an led for a little more! Either way DO NOT buy this outdated junk

I wouldn't ever use this company again. They're not keen on honoring their gaurantee.
