Out of curiosity, is the 24 month guarantee from ebuyer? So if it breaks do ebuyer replace it? Because Elonex has gone bust and so I doubt theyll be honouring any guarantees
#13
back and remote control is identical to the hannspree i bought from misco a few weeks ago for £248 (32 inch). also came with 2 year warranty. it's my first lcd tv - but picture seems really good.

Company was in administration - not technically bust.

Furthermore the business has now been sold see the story below.

The administrators of Elonex Public Limited Company, Neville Kahn and Nick Edwards of Deloitte, confirmed that the sale of the business and assets was completed on the 4/07/06 for an undisclosed sum.

The purchasers – Applied Film Industries Company plc (AFIC plc) – are now responsible for running the business.

The sale includes the business and assets, the use of Elonex plc name, and will secure on-going employment for the remaining workforce (48 employees).

Deloitte partner and Administrator Neville Kahn confirmed that “Conclusion of this sale provides an excellent platform for the business and the workforce to prosper in the future. The workforce in particular has maintained support for the Administration throughout this very uncertain time and this has been an important element in securing the successful sale of the business.”

Finally anyone thinking of buying one of these needs to be aware that the new owners of the business are unlikely to honour any warranty:w00t:

well, any problem with the warranty will be ebuyers problem...not ours.

Looks identical to the Hannspree Xv (YT model) that I got from Saverstore for £297 (inc. del) last week.
Freeview (Humax 8000T) via scart is very good (no motion blurring)
Xbox 360 via component is excellent (GOW looks fabulous)
TBH, I wasn't expecting much for 300 quid but have to say that for the money it's well worth it

in one of the reviews, the guy said it was no good for games.

can any1 confirm this.

I am looking for an HD lCD TV around 32" that will primarily be used for playin xbox 360 on.

I've had no probs whatsoever (so far) with Xbox 360 via component :)
GOW, COD3 & PGR3 all look terrific :)
BTW, the VGA connection isn't great (max resolution available is poor :-( )
That's why I bought an Xbox 360 component cable for £4.99 from the Argos sale (there's a thread on here somewhere that mentions this)

Lol easy, it was just a question as it wasn't mentioned in the description...

Two things though, firstly that link is referring to IT services. Secondly it's also referring to honouring warranties made *before* the change of administration, so that would not apply to buying something from the new company.

Thirdly though, it's largely irrelevant anyway as it's the vendor (i.e. eBuyer) that is responsible for the warranty anyway in the first instance, not Elonex.

Hi xsy77

I bought the HANNspree XV 32" lcd tv+ JT01 MODEL for £297.50 + £12 for next day delivery inc 2 years on site warranty last week from http://www.intekx.com
I have to say im extremely impressed and can highly recommend this Lcd I have my Xbox 360 connected via the standard Av lead that came with my Xbox and the quality of the pictures are fantastic. It even sounds good:thumbsup: .
It also looks great when used as a monitor for my desktop computer connected via a Vga d sub lead that came supplied with the telly the pictures are both sharp a crystal clear:thumbsup: .
To be honest if you don’t mind your new telly being black and for me that’s not a problem as the telly looks fantastic then for just over £300 I don’t think you will find better and believe me I looked.
The only niggle I have is the lack of a Sky+ remote code! But then maybe that’s me just being lazy:roll:
Hope this helps and im more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about this set

Hi,
I am looking for a NTSC compatible LCD screen but a lot of the screens I see here are PAL/SECAM only- especially the cheaper ones.

Is there a reason for this? and is there a way to bypass it by using different inputs?

I want to use NTSC to
i) connect my US PS2, Wii & PS3 (when I get one)
ii) watch my old NTSC DVD's

What is the max resolution via VGA and is there any way to get a PC to display at the full 1366 x 768 resolution (there seems to be no links to a manual or spec on Elonex's website either)? Apart from that it seems a cracking deal.

Well on the Handspree i didn’t have to do anything to the settings on the TV.
I just chose the max resolution on the desktop which was 1360 by 768 pixels and it worked fine giving a sharp and crystal clear picture

Hope this helps

Sort of. If the HANDSpree had PIPon the E2 set it would. It is the Elonex set that seems to have an issue though.

Thanks anyway. E

k9pvc how is this with films etc from your computer quality wise as I have a number of films on my hard drive that it would be good to watch on the tv without having to burn dvd's etc.

I’ve not actually got any films stored on my hard drive but when I have played a dvd on my computer it still looks crystal clear with no blurring when viewed through the Hannspree:thumbsup:

Don’t know if this info will be of any use to you but if pip is important to you
Aria are doing the slightly older model to mine think is the YT which has pip but only has 1 Hdmi and not two like mine and a slightly lower Contrast ratio of 750:1 where the newer model has 1200:1 but everything else seems to be the same
Full Specs can be viewed at http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/32%22+Hannspree+HD+Xv32+TFT-TV+?productId=27095
And best of all its only £276.07 + delivery

The one you have is a HANNspree and this is a Elonex. Isn't that just two different manufacures and models? If so doesn't that mean that fact that you would recommend the model you purchased have nothing to do with this one?

Quite correct but I don’t see what your point is!
As if you take the time to read the post I replied to which was left by xsy77 in which he says

“I am looking for an HD lCD TV around 32" that will primarily be used for playing Xbox 360 on. Any enlightenment would be great”

So that’s why I left the post in question as I was replying to his request for a recommendation for a 32” lcd suitable for his Xbox

So like I said what’s you point perhaps you should take the time to read all the posts more carefully:whistling:

Anyone getting the hanspree xv - FYI it is totally rubbish for either watching movies through your PC or playing games (due to tearing and juddering); however I found it great connected to external DVD player / freeview box. (for the money).

Think you should consider getting your Tv or games set up checked out, As both myself and nearly all the posts about the Hannspree on the Av reviews web site agree on is that when connected to either the Xbox 360 or the Ps3 the results and picture quality are fantastic

well my mum received her Elonex on Tuesday, and its a nice looking set. Picture is fairly ok, better at a viewing distance of 8 feet or so, and my mum is quite impressed. She is babysitting my son this weekend and he will be using his 360 on it, so that should show off the screen a bit more.
