Not sure if this is allowed, if not please delete.

Seems to be the same sort of thing on ebay for about £35. I have no experience with the seller so might be risky.

Bought one of these 4 weeks - suberb, great value for money - USB and SD memory work well, and the CD player appears to have anti-skip memory, as I have yet to make it jump (Lotus Elise).

Thanks Benjimoron :) . I have removed the ebay seller link. Comparing the price from your link (£38 ), still is is a worthy buy from ebuyer which also comes with 12 month warranty.

First you need to find a FREE slot in your car and if there's not one then remove your existing headunit and replace it with this one.

Usually garages/places like Halfords offer this service for you.

No problem, here is some info for you :)

http://i12.ebayimg.com/04/i/08/b1/26/29_1.JPG

The fascia adaptor will enable you to replace a factory fitted radio/CD player with an aftermarket unit, and retain the original appearance of your dashboard (just like the one above)

Fascia is unique for every Car model and can be bought from Halfords for £10-£15. You will need to remove the existing radio/cd player and fit the fascia into the slot. The new CD player can be fixed through this fascia as normal.

For me, this was a DIY job...

Thanks, but im talking about actually connecting the cd player up so it works LOL!
Is it simple enough to do yourself? Bare in mind im a lady LOL!

It's very easy to do, all you need is the correct removal tool (costs about £2 each) to remove the unit then simply swap the cables over.

What edi says is valid BUT NOT all cars need a fascia as most cars only use a standard size for the headunit whereas some use a larger hole (in which case you will need a fascia.

You may find this in Halfords. Also, Haynes manual may suggest the easy way of doing this with diagrams. You dont need to buy a manual if you dont have one - have a quick glance at Halfords :p
#18
Well im not in a hurry, well i am LOL
Ill just nip to my local garage and ask if they can do it for me and if so how much, then ill pop to halfords and see if theyll help me out by means of the tools and how to do it, or ask how much there fitting is :)

I know its simple as my mums garage fitted hers in a few mins

I replaced tape player for CD player for my Girlfriend last month.

First time Ive ever done it and it can be tricky if you dont have the removal tool as I didnt! Took me about half an hour to get old unit out but its easy to fit new unit, connectors are easy enough.

Tempted to buy this unit but does it remember which track your on when u turn it off? My mates MP3 player goes back to the start which is naff!
#20
Ive just read up on how to do it :)

Seems quite simple, but oh god, whats betting i get it wrong!

Will they accpet returns if i cant do it?

I wont have opened the box, its not putting the new cd player in, its getting the old cassette player out thats the hard work....

Its quite unlikely you will fail replacing the unit. Owners manual will explain removing the existing system. Do an ebay/ google search with your car model + fascia; you should find out more in case you need an adaptor.
#22
the tape player in it is quite small

Im really clueless at these sort of things

As I mentioned before, google your car model for more info on whether or not you need a fascia adaptor. Mine was a bit odd shaped radio, neatly fitting in the dashboard and had to find a fasica.

For anyone looking for Fascia, follow this link to Halfords

Where: Halfords

Fascia for Fiver is a very good deal. Well, its nothing but a piece of plastic ;-). Halfords and some other shops have simply overpriced this item.

I bought from fittingsolutions for 4.65 including delivery. Mods is it okay to mention the name of ebay seller?

is the usb connection the same fitting that is on your pc as I have an archos player which has a usb cable you can run from it to pc.
reason i ask this is that i have an fm transmitter for it but quality is poor so wanted something to fit straight into the stereo as i have 20gbs of tunes on the archos and can unplug it and take with me whenever i leave the car

Also it seems that most car stereos are designed just for the ipod market

great price for a stereo aswell ..

Acc to the above image, the USB connection looks like a standard one :)
#29
I can confirm USB is standard and accepts 'normal' memory sticks and starts to play any mp3's on it. You can navigate around folders on SD card and USB sticks.

Jerichologan - If you can play the mp3's on the Archos by pluging it into your computer then it'll work on the Eltax - BUT not under control of the Archos, ie you will not use it's 'play' button etc. Hope that makes sense.

brilliant

thanks for the help:thumbsup:

mikeyp - sorrow missed your earlier post - yes, this unit does remember which mp3 it was playing when you switch off, but starts it again from the beginning of the track. Also remembers if it was on or off when you turn the ignition back on. Can't fault it.

Thanks for the info Alan, quite useful actually if it starts at the beginning of the last song you played when you turn the car on.

I was torn between this one and the touchscreen Clarion one they had on Ebuyer, but that was abit more expensive @ £170 and it doesnt have the ports!!!

Ive decided to go for the Eltax one and the girlfriend's gonna get it for me for xmas. Gotta wait 2 whole months to play with it which suxs tho :(
#35
Another thing to mention, I read the Ebuyer reviews from ppl who had bought it and some ppl mentioned they needed an adapter for the aerial as its a different connection. Its an ISO to Din adapter and I picked one up off Ebay for £1.99 delivered!

Am not sure if I'll need it but it was only a couple of quid and it saves hassle when I go to fit it.

Just worth noting.
#36
Ok guys you have just pushed me into action to fit my CD player which our lass bought me for xmas.

I chose it because of the usb connection but because I was changing my car sometime this year I never did fit it, I changed my car about 8 weeks ago and still never did fit this one. She paid £50 from Aldi last December and it was a bargain at the time. Come on you guys, let this thread kick you into action to fit that car stereo you never actually got around to fitting!!!
#37
Thanks for the find edi, i thought it was you who'd find it, mine arrived today, and its getting fitted at 3 :)
Also, its now gone up to £54.95 so thanks for posting it, really appreciate it :)
