I was on the look out for an amp, and found this one with a built in dvd player and fm radio. All I need now is some decent speakers. Any suggestions?

Just a pity there is no built in divx support.

I got this price at £26.18 due to the free postage today on anything for £24.99 so basically add anything to your basked to take it over £24.99 (I used quick find 133483), Otherwise it will cost you £27.03 with super saver delivery.

The high quality Eltax DR-110 DVD Receiver features a multitude of video and audio playback options. Housed behind an elegant aluminium front, this slim and powerful video master packs a punch worthy of any Hollywood heavyweight.

#6
Good for the price but no component or RGB output.
#7
could this be used for xbox 360 surround sound?
#8
Not a good deal if you live in northern ireland like me, the free postage thing doesn't work and instead it charges you a tenner postage :x i had it looking perfect with extra items for the free delivery then it said your balance to northern ireland is £39 i canceled order
#9
I take it this is only the DVD receiver and does not come with any speakers.

Same for a lot of places if you live in N.I. - Must cost them a lot of custom (as in customers) - I use Amazon a lot with free delivery (bigger Company I know)- just not fair..

there shouldn't be any custom if its comming from UK as we are still counted as the UK but yet again depends if they are posting with a diff company other than royal mail or parcel force as i work at the royal mail and the shipping cost is all the same.

Now only £21.98 inc VAT

254 in stock available to ship for next day (20:33 11 dec)

Shame it does not have an audio digitial input, but one hell of a bargain!
#14
There's no way this thing ever cost more than £100 quid tops however long ago, it doesn't even have component!!!!(???)

Simply not possible it cost £600 with spearkers etc, things that pricey always have high spec interconnects.

Good buy though, just not "that" good :)

How many peeps read the advertisment quick and thought it was a dvd recorder like me?? What a muppet i am-i got well excited haha
#16
what type of speakers can people suggest to go with this?
#17
thanks just ordered
#18
How much roughly should this be worth then? Since it looks like it's 6 year old kit by what people have said?

Anyway, could I hook this up to my PS3? Or failing that my TV (but ideally the PS3).
#19
does anyone know the answer to the question posted by jamiesd

can it be used with a surround sound for an xbox 360
#20
I have an old record turntable but i dont have a stereo with audio inputs to amplify it, would i be able to use this along with some speakers to listen to my records?
The turntable has a red jack and a white jack.

It seems to have digital optical input and scart input, so I reckon it should work.

You can download the specifications in pdf format here.

This is a great deal for those on a budget.
#22
It actually says "Optical Audio Out", not "Optical Audio In". Does that mean I can or cannot connect my PS3?

Not sure mate - it lists stereo rca line input however, pretty sure that is possible.
#24
What does this do? I know it plays DVDs - but didnt understand the rest.....thanks
#25
Only connection on the back of the PS3 is optical I think, so RCA'd be no good i dont think... Shame we dont know for sure...

It looks like an ok deal though... Anyone know for sure?
#26
Yes you can hook it up a ps3 or xbox via stereo and use the dolby prologic II setting to give you surround sound.
#27
Via stereo? As above, the PS3 only has optical from what i can see.

By using the original ps3 av cable that came with it, you can connect it to the RCA port.
Just configure the sound to output through this cable in the settings
#30
Cool! What type of connectors are on the back for speakers? Standard 2 wire, or something else?

Yes it is possible to do it this way but it won't be true 5.1 surround sound as its taking a stereo signal and converting it to surround.

If it had digital input then you could take surround sound directly from the PS3 or 360.

How much difference this makes to the sound or not, I can't say...
#33
If this is run through just a normal stereo cable, will all 5 speakers work? Or just the L and R channel?

Just to find some nice speakers. Anyone got any ideas?

No. You need a phono stage first.

Thanks.

These things were on sale back in May 2003 so the model is over 4 years old. Smells of grey import to me or rescued from a skip. There was some argument about a "Eltax" dvd player Ebuyer were selling cheap and people were claiming that they were not genuine Eltax products and the product code did not exist so take caution. At least the model number actually exists but for just over £25 it's not bad for a bedroom or something like that.
#39
Perhaps with the PS3 audio issue, you could probably export the analogue sound from the TV via RCA to the AV receiver while connecting the PS3 to the HDMI port or using the optical to the TV...
#40
Cheers for this, picked one up for the parents: I expect the quality will be notably better than the £20 ****** bush one my parents bought themselves a few years back.
