the sainsburys one at £299 was better (but admittedly out of stock)- came with a 250gb hdd not the 160 as above.
Needs an extra 2gb ddr3 ram to make it decent (the intel hd graphics is shared with the ram)- to do this you need to unscrew the whole of the bottom of the case with some 25 screws!
One final thing - the speakers (rather a mono speaker) are pants.
But for £299 - not a bad lappy.

I posted the same offer from http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/eMachines_eME732_1017508.html
six days ago and it didn't get hot which surprised me , It will be interesting to see how it does this time

is this the best laptop sub £300 at the moment?

is this the best laptop sub £300 at the moment?

Yes IMHO
Fair comment about the RAM but 2GB is workable.
Who can honestly say that they can tell which speaker a certain sound came from on a laptop anyway? If you want stereo, you plug something in.

Stereo or not the speaker on the laptop is poor. You need it at 100% to get a reasonable sound!

plug some headphones into it or get a lil external output. most lappy speakers are pants and the source of the audio can contribute aswell

It's expired so isn't the best anymore, Asda probably only had a few?

Any deals for extra RAM for this laptop?
#12
Spec list not too detailed on Amazon, anyone know if has HDMI?
#13
Bought this from Sainsbury's. Great machine. I upgraded the RAM but it is a mission (20+ screws). Check out this thread for more info http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/emachines-e732z-core-i3-led-hd-2gb-250gb-15-6-laptop-now-only-289-99-delivered-w/879044/#post10655619

According to Saveonlaptops, it does have HDMI.

I am interested as to why this is hot on Amazon, but not on SaveOnLaptops? I'd be interested to know that if the 2gb RAM is one card or 2 x 1gb cards.
#15
Hot. Can anyoe confirm if this does have HDMI or not?
#16
Isn't this one better?
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/emachines-eme732z-08702365-pdt.html

More HDD and Memory and confimed HDMI.

Am I missing anything??

Edit: Posted in haste. The PcWorld one is a dual core P6200, the Amazon one is an i3 370M.

I'm going for the i3 and getting a 2GB memory module. Still hot from me. :)

Mr Matt, at a quick glance the cpu is different, this post I believe has a better cpu.

It is strange that this deal isn't hotter.

Corei3 for under £300.
That's pretty good for a budget laptop and is the cheapest Corei3 laptop currently available.

this machine is sooper dooper , as i bought from sainsburys for 285 pound includind discount code and quidco, no problem at all , works fine and main thing does not get hot with continues 4 hour use , which i never seen in any laptop,

It does have a hdmi according to

i bought a better spec for cheaper: at £289.99 plus i got cash back making it to £283

I3 370
2gb ram (now 4GB)
250gb hdd
dvdrw & wifi

When i got it, i upgraded the ram to make it a 4gb, the 2gb extra cost me £14.99. so i got a good deal for an i3 370 for £289.99. will not find a cheaper laptop :D, but still voted hot,

yes , bought from sainsburys with discount code and quidco :), note sainburys sent my e-mail and registared the laptop automatically on emachines website, so no hassle with registration

I bought this laptop from Sainsbury's a month ago, good machine, however as you'd expect the build quality is hopeless, the dvd drive doesn't even open 50% of the time I try and use it, really can't be bothered to take it back and if it screws up totally I'll fix it myself.

I bought this laptop from Sainsbury's back in december (got staff discount so worked out even cheaper than this!), and it has an hdmi output on it. Cant fault it at all for the price, (except for the crappy speaker) but excellent audio through headphones. also it is a huge pain to install more ram in it, but some of the models do have the ram trapdoor, but mines doesnt...
#26
The card reader only reads SD and MMC cards, no SDHC? That's a real shame considering most digital cameras these days use SDHC and it's very convenient to just pop the card out of the camera and into the laptop for transferring.
#27
Of course...the laptop is pants because of this lol ...you could however pay £50 more for a different Laptop to get around the inconvenience ;) ...my camera comes with a usb lead.
#28
Hmmm, does this one have a LCD screen whereas the Sainbury's model has LED?
