http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0049U5ZIY/ref=oss_product

Is this Sainbury's deal better? I appreciate its cheaper and i3 but overall will it be much better and worth returning the other to amazon when it arrives?
#15
I would buy emachines because of vastly better processor. its the one main thing on a laptop u can't upgrade.
ok so hard drive twice as big on samsung, but hd not very expensive anyway.

Nonsense. There are hundreds if not thousands of laptop models where you definitely can upgrade the CPU. I should know since I strip down and repair them every working day of the week.

Erm nope, most recent (past the 90's) laptops have CPUs infused to the motherboard, making replacement extremely difficult and usually not worth the cost.
#18
Well it might be possible in some cases but not really for your your average user.
I stand by original comment far easier to replace hd, memory. Although plenty of screws to un do on emachines laptop very straightforward to tug out hard drive from socket or push extra memory.
on this laptop 1 x 2gb in place so no wastage of memory just insert extra 2gb to upgrade.

Thanks. I actually paid £250 for the MSi one, so would you say the better processor is worth £40 more?
I won't be using blu-rays & it'll just be for running my eBay shop & office applications.

Not having a graphics card, will it not play games at all or will it just struggle with the more fast paced ones?
#24
Its hot, these laptops going for £349 with a lesser proc somewhere else. This model is similar to 4742 except the badge.
#25
Hi, this seems like a good deal but has anyone used the voucher to get the £10 off? Thanks

It does have Wireless N by the way.

take notice of this review with regards to upgrading the memory

This really is a good product for the price, especially with the intel i3 processor. Although the quoted maximum memory quoted is correct, it is not upgradable by the user without stripping the machine down and thus voiding the warranty. Most of the documentation is supplied in software loaded on the laptop but the documentation provided I found sufficient to get up and running. The keyboard is of a good standard as is the display and battery life is about 4 hrs. 4 DVD writable discs are required to burn the recovery discs
I am very pleased with my purchase.

see this post as well ... where they say it does not invalidate warranty...and 1 or 2 people have upgraded...deal on here posted a couple of weeks ago where a couple of users upgraded

Erm yes, as I stated I strip em down and repair them, I must have been imagining it, thanks for that, I'll go see a doctor.
