Am guessing that this is a decent price for a i3 laptop?!

-------

Harness the power to perform, with this versatile laptop from eMachines.

There's a 2GB memory for great system performance, and a 250GB hard drive has all the room you'll need for storing your digital files.

Your movies have never looked better, thanks to the 15.6" LED high definition display with 1366x768 resolution - and you can enjoy them on the SuperMulti DVD double layer optical drive.

Three USB slots, HDMI port with HDCP support and 2-in-1 card reader give you great connectivity for moving and sharing information, and connecting to entertainment devices.

Wi-Fi, an integrated webcam and microphone are ideal for social networking and communications.

This model is now available INSTORE ONLY for £180. The guy I know in Sainsburys said that this was nationwide but only if the store had any in store that were unsold. Market Harborough had 4 this morning.

dont think i seen a brand new i3 lappy for less.
#2
Some good and bad reviews from Sainsburys site so is cheap for an i3 but quality maybe poorer than say Samsung or Lenovo.
#3
This look sto have everything I want at a price I'm looking for. Been looking for a new laptop for a few weeks and this looks pretty good.
#4
Anyone know if the DC jack on this is motherboard mounted or if its cable fed between the jack and the board? Only problems Ive ever had with emachines is dc jacks fitted onto the boards
#5
Cheapest i3 laptop. The HP one was a bit better for an extra £30 but hot nevertheless.
#6
I think i'm gonna go for the
ACER ASPIRE 5741A at argos ebay for £329 .I think its worth the extra £30 even though its a r/f . bigger hdd and more ram
#7
Cheapest core i3 laptop I'd seen so far with decent spec

ordered it for £289.99 with a £10 off code, plus 2% quidco and 598 nectar points. Delivery took only two days and so far so good. I have also ordered RAM for it 2gb and in comes with a single slot 2gb which is good and not 2x1gb. Link for ram - super cheap @ only £15.99 plus 1% cash back via quidco

if you go ram hunting get the 204pin and CL-7.

all in i370 + 4GB ram + nectar 598 + £10 off = £305.98 :D

Note: i3 370 processor and not a i3 330 or i3 350.

So its not an entry laptop compared to other cheap ones out there with 330 / 350 - thats after you have upgraded ram :D

#12
I have this machine, excellent.
#13
Will have to read the reviews before I decide, but thanks nonetheless OP :)

Picked mine up yesterday... seems OK so far.

[deleted query about RAM speed - it appears to be 1066MHz - not PC10660 - very confusing terminology!]

Hi - picked up on Tuesday - very impressed.

Also looking to upgrade the memory - the link above - is this a simple plug and play install - without affecting warranty?

Any help - much appreciated.

I cracked the case on mine last night.
Have the machine upside down.
Remove battery & power!
Undo all 23 screws on the bottom of the case (3 small ones under the battery)
and 3 clips around the side (2 near fan exhaust, and one at front) - use a fingernail in the gap between top & bottom to "click" them open.
Then lift the DVD side of the plastic base plate, and tilt to extract the audio sockets.
That gets you at the motherboard.
There is a "double" soDIMM socket for the memory.
1 slot contains 2GB DDR3 PC-10600 RAM (Samsung)
That leaves one spare for an upgrade.
Just slot it in at an angle and click down to install.
Then reassemble by reversing above - align audio sockets first.

and somebody asked - the power socket is soldered to the motherboard, but looks fairly substantial.

hope that helps!

I have corrected this slightly - there are 24 screws. (earlier post was from memory, sorry)
Have now installed my extra 2G and reassembled - and no more swapfile needed.

One more thing - it only has mono sound onboard - with a single speaker just above the Ins key... so you will need external speakers for stereo.

where do i get the £10.00 code of - gone through quidco :)
#24
I think that code expired recently before this deal was posted, but was had previously
#25
I too have just bought one. So far, I love its wide screen and keys spaced apart for ease of typing. It even has a keypad. It is much lighter than most laptops this size. It doesn't come with a laptop bag, but they're not expensive. Initial impressions are that it is well worth the money.

Owned for a few days now. Very good value for money. Upgraded the memory and purchased an external hard drive to keep things running sweet. Well worth a punt if your in the market for a good cheap ish laptop.

does this laptop have dvd/cd writer anyone??
#34
Some of the reviews of this on the sainsburys site say it has the 32bit OS installed yet is upgradable to 8Gb hence thinking its 64bit...

Anyone confirm either way please? Or if the restore pack has the option to install the 64bit OS version? I know the OS's can be downloaded these days from MS, but it would save me having to do so :)

is a cd/dvd re-writer already built in when i buy this lap top or do ihave to install in.
I dont know much about computers!!
#38
The CD/DVD rewriter is built in just like any other laptop.

The 3 blank DVD-R/DVD+R discs are only used to create a set of Restore/Recovery DVDs for safe keeping. These DVDs are only ever likely to be used if say the contents of the hard drive was deleted, or a new hard drive is fitted. The 3 DVDs will reinstate Windows and other software to its originaly factory shipped condition.

Hi Ebarbour

Yes simple plug and play - Was mistaken has a 1333mhz ram so get the play.com one at 13.99 (even cheaper) - but it will run at 1066 due to the FSB of MOBO and CPU (CPUz). The one inside the Laptop is a 2gb Samaung 1333mhz 204 pin. I have bought a 1066 Kingston and work perfectly :D

Does not effect the warranty - bit tricky taking of the case, due to have about 20+ screws to take of 1st, but not too hard, a novice should be able to do this.

Have fun and defo a bargin! 289.99 !! with possible quid co :D

Product features in sainsbury's site is misleading...
"4GB of DDR3 memory upgradeable to 8GB using two soDIMM modules"
