What more to say, other than £299.99 for a 40" LCD TV with USB recording function. Don't know much about the brand but hopefully somebody will be able to shed some light.

Happy to make a post as I've been using the site for ages and this is my first - try not to be too harsh!

Full description from the Sainsbury website:

Product overview
Featuring a 40" screen, full high definition and a USB recoding function, this Emotion LCD TV is equipped to become the centrepiece of your viewing set up. The screen features built-in Freeview, as well as digital noise reduction to ensure the digital pictures stay pin sharp.

At the back of the unit there are three HDMI connection sockets, as well as a SCART socket plus digital co-axial output - for connection to a surround sound amplifier. Most impressively there's also a USB port allowing timed recording from the electronic programme guide, one touch recording plus the ability to pause live TV by recording onto the storage device plugged into the port.

There's also a sleep timer and a parental lock.

Hi guys, the 40" is not DVD model. but had s the USB function. the 32" doesnt really need to be 1080p in all fairness you wont see a difference as such unless your really picky. It depends your opinion may differ but most customers i encounter dont really rate a difference and to be honest i can warrent spending extra cash for it.

you will however appreciate the 1080p on the 40", the screens are really nice and bright. (from samsung as you may or may not already know)

At this price its a steal

HOT HOT HOT

Steaming hot price and as Sainsbury's have a 28 day return policy, I think it's worth a punt.

thats well cheap these didnt look too bad saw a few in store but were priced much higher, screen must be made by a known company as most of these are.

We sell a fair few TVs at my store, and we don't see many E-motion ones come back, to be fair. They're pretty good value when you consider what features you're getting, just don't expect them to have the same sort of image processing or viewing angles that the more expensive brands have.

If I hadn't bought a 5igitrex 40" 1080p LCD from Curry's last weekend for £249, I'd definitely have ordered this one..

Really nice find OP, heat added :)

ok i know its uber cheap but 50hz and 3000:1 contrast ratio...isnt that quite poor for image effectively?

I'd go for it prob if could get it because im looking for cheap as chips but trying to get best specs possible for the money.
#19
What you need to do with these low contrast models watch them to make sure you can live with it, especially a 40'as this will reveal all the imperfections. When you watch it make sure you are not watching a blu ray cartoon but rather cornation st to get a real life picture etc...have fun

we purchased the 22" this week, i have to say so far im impressed, for the money £159 u get a good picture, freeview with a pvr usb so u can record your tv, has the hdmi, lets just see if slovakian products last, they do offer a 6 year warranty from sainsburys for £60 which isnt bad either, i think for the money your getting a cheap tv, i wouldnt purchase one for myself in my room but it works in the kitchen very well.
#21
Used my staff discount which brought this down to £255, how could I turn it down at that price?!

Cheers op, heat added

Thought at £219 we'd give the 32" a go and we're pretty amazed! Excellent picture and a breeze to set up! The sound is fantastic compared to our old Samsung, it has a cinema type quality to it. In fact, I'm that impressed I'm putting it in the dining room for the kids x-box kinect and going back next week to get the 40" version.
Really can't fault it, especially for the price.

Picked up one of these yesterday, never had such a big telly before maybe i was expecting to much for this money but not impressed with pic quality at all, easy to set up all though when attaching the base unit one of the cross heads didnt have the cross in it like it had'nt been finished properly at the factory. Also remote had small indentation in it..So anyway its going back to the shop Monday and so endeth abruptly my foray into big T.v's......

Bought this tv on tuesday from our local sainsbury's after reading about it on here (cheers 'op') and must say we're more than happy with it. They didnt have any on show but after asking the assistant she went and found them in the storeroom.
Picture quality is very good unless you sat right up close to it (which defeats the object of have a large screen tv)
Sound is excellent
Looks great in the polished black finish with silver trim at the bottom
USB record function is great, can record to memory stick or usb hard drive

Worth every penny in our opinion.

I got mine yesterday. It's not bad, but there is an audible hum when muted or nothing is playing. Probably a poorly designed transformer.

Also:
- it came in a box with a picture of a similar looking tv with a silver (speaker?) bar at the bottom which mine clearly doesn't have
- some of the packaging had been opened and not put back quite right (and ripped slightly)
- the sticker on the back with the serial number looks as if somebody's attempted to peel it off but given up

So I'm really not sure what to think. Should I take this back?

Sounds like somebody had it before you and left it back.

I have had mine for nearly a week now and its been great so far, HD quality looks good bar (like already said) you sit right up close to it.
