Saw this in the Nottingham Castle Boulevard Sainsburys last night.

I've not been in the TV market for a while, but seemed like a good deal!

Credit to hellonick for finding it first - unfortunately I didn't see his deal when searching and the dupe checker was messed up. Good job dude :)

It does seem a good deal, as it did when it was posted a couple days ago. Also online, free delivery.
#3
Ahh right, I didn't find it when I searched, but right you are, it is online here http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/shop/technology/televisions/lcd/120642403_emotion_4069fusb_40_fullhd_1080p_usb_lcd_tv.html

One for the HUKD mods too there's a glitch with the submitter, if you use the link above on the submitter, it brings up a window with all the specs, but it's so long you can't see any buttons to click on and you have to leave the page to carry on.

Emotion 40/69-FUSB 40" Full-HD 1080p USB LCD TV

Featuring a 40" screen, full high definition and a USB recoding function, this Emotion LCD TV is equipped to become the centrepiece of your viewing set up. The screen features built-in Freeview, as well as digital noise reduction to ensure the digital pictures stay pin sharp.

At the back of the unit there are three HDMI connection sockets, as well as a SCART socket plus digital co-axial output - for connection to a surround sound amplifier. Most impressively there's also a USB port allowing timed recording from the electronic programme guide, one touch recording plus the ability to pause live TV by recording onto the storage device plugged into the port.

There's also a sleep timer and a parental lock.

That was the problem I had when I tried to submit it too. That window is a "is it this deal that has already been submitted?" query, but it isn't obvious because you can't see the question or the buttons.
#6
It looks like it's just standard Freeview, not Freeview HD, from the box.
#7
Seems like a good deal to me, have some heat!
#8
But... But... it's not a Sony!
#9
Good price if you missed the 40 inch at argos for £250.

If it ain't Bravia Engine 3, it ain't worth considering...

Would you be able to playback divx via the USB or only what's been recorded?

Why not pay the £70 more and get the LG 42" for £369.99 shown above. Posted the wrong TV mate, LG is far better value

Meh, not really, it's a different deal for a different buyer, some people aren't that fussed about the brand and just need a budget TV, in which case an extra 2" (5% increase in screen size) for an extra £70 (23% increase in price!) isn't good value.

Screen size to cost the emotion is better value, however overall the LG is better value, you need to look at the difference in picture quality, build and design. The LG is £361 on amazon.

£70 is £70 at the end of the day, if you're paying a couple of grand for something, £70 isn't going to be much but £70 extra on a £300 purcvhase is a fair difference. I have a 19" Emotion and the picture and build quality is surprisingly good i think and that's 720p. It's not enough to say because it's an LG it's better value.

Yes you can mate. I've got the same set and it plays divx perfectly via my usb pen. ;)

I love it when people say "why not spend such and suck more and get a Sony"

Why not just spend 2 million more and build your own cinema. Same logic right!

I actually bought one of these for £190 with some vouchers I had kicking around, and it's not a bad set.. If I was paying cash though, I'd agree with the above, get the LG!

What read/write speed USB would you need for this to function effectively please?

What makes this better than the Tesco £299.99 tvs?

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.210-9065.aspx

I did have an emotion branded tv a few years back, not this one, and it did die on me within 3 months, wouldn't switch on. Keep your receipts.
#27
save another £100 and get a decent tv

As far as I'm aware, UMC at Tesco and Emotion at Sainsburys are made by the same company. If you've seen the boxes instore they are pretty much identical other than ones purple and ones green (if you see them, you'll get what I mean!)
#29
got one in the blackpool sainsbury's. Good deal especially if your just hooking upto a PS3 or xbox in bedroom
#30
Im sure you can get some known brand TV for this rice
#31
E-motion are made and assembled by a company in Slovakia named UMC. Very poor build quality and inferior PCB's. Spend your well earned money else where.
#32
I got a cheap Full HD 37 inch one from Argos and blurays (through my ps3) don't play smoothly like they should, I'm guessing it will be the same with this tv. On my friends ps3 through his sony tv, blurays play like they should.

Emotion.....hahaha........your having a giraffe

For a couple of pieces of paper extra you could purchase a Samsung or LG, its a no brainer
#37
Used to work at ASDA in my student days, the amount of Schneider / Pacific TV's they sold was unreal due to the 'Great Price' - however there was also a sizeable chunk of the warehouse dedicated to the ones awaiting to be sent back.

And Yes £60 extra for an LG is a bit more expensive but when this TV kicks the bucket after 16 months and your guarantee is void you'd be thinking I bet the LG would still have a few more years left in it!

I'm of the opinion if you're going to spend a lot of money on something like that, I'd rather save for a extra few weeks and get something decent.

Is it? It's coming up a bit more for me. Or are you not comparing it with the £299? Cheaper in the sense that it'll probs last longer :p
