Empire have updated their sale pages so instead of posting all the bargains I have seen, I thought I would just give you the heads up and let you do the searching!
Tops for a quid.
2 t shirts for 1.99.
Lots and lots of bargains!

I don't know what Empire ever did to you but I have been a customer for 10 years and had no problems whatsoever.
I can only assume the cold ratings are because of a dislike for the company as the goods are bargains.

i've always wondered if it's possible that cold votes for things like this could be attempts to put others off so that people can get all the bargains before they go out of stock....

cheers

Thanks Gav.
I often see posts from newbies like us confused at the voting.
Seems a lot of people dislike certain companies and vote accordingly. If this is the case, it makes a bit of a mockery of the voting system.
Whether you have a child to fit in the £1 top or not, it is a good deal.

Rep added for making me feel i'm not the only one who is baffled??

thanks got the baby some timberland boots for £8 bargain xx

Empire Stores are great, pity they are more than likely to close soon
#6
Yeah, I read that. That will be the end of my catalogue shopping days.
I refuse to pay delivery and I refuse to pay to pay a bill!
#7
Thanks just got a couple of things for the kids. Voted hot

Empire Stores = Redcats Brands.

No better than Littlewoods in terms of customer relations.

I don't agree...and like I said, that doesn't mean they are not doing good deals.

I order with empire - apply a discount code - rarely it is not accepted but when I have milked the £15 off £30 code too many times they write to me and tell me they haven't placed the order and if I want to try again with a different order code I am welcome to.
I place an order with Littlewoods - apply a discount code - Littlewoods don't apply it to the order - charge my credit card for the full amount- charge me £3.50 delivery charge and lose a customer.

Some good deals..shame they are sold out in the sizes I wanted.

Yes, I agree!
I don't understand the voting system here at all...There are some 'deals' that are not deals at all and they have extra hot votes... even though the price that is shown is EXTRA high too...
Where is LOGIC...?:?

Hey just got a pair of jeans from here used quidco and the code on their site PP8700 for £15 off for first time users spending £30+ and that worked fine.
Also I searched around in case I could find the same item cheaper elsewhere and instead of that I found the same item at empirestores for £13 cheaper by going through a link at NexTag. This went through the checkout fine even though I could not find the jeans for the same price using their search bar. Maybe this would work for other items, I thought it was strange though.

I'm trying to order something using a valid card but it won't accept it. The message 'Invalid Start Date' keeps coming up. Can anyone help please?
#21
looks like some good bargains, but nothing for me though.

I have used empire once and they were ok.

still some good deals!

If you only enter the END date and leave the START date blank:thumbsup:

Its the ebayers who vote the good deals cold, almost all the deals that end up very hot, start off cold in the first few minutes. Its the ebayers who are just sitting there for hours refreshing the page waiting to pounce on a hot deal and buy as much stock as they can.

Still didn't work and I tried a couple of cards. Out of stock now..again :-(

People vote cold on deals from companies that are useless because a bargain is about more than the price of something. If you are buying an item from a company that you know will be giving you decent service and there is no risk of being overcharged or ripped off in some other way then it is a hot deal. But with companies like Redcats brands who own Empire Stores many people have had shoddy service from. In fact I will never ever deal with a Redcats company after having ordered items from LaRedute another of their brands. They were diabolical, failing to deliver the right products, messing up returns and overcharging, they are a complete sham.

So I would certainly vote cold for a Redcat deal as no matter how low the price it is not worth the risk.

Maybe your courier was ****.
I've never been overcharged and i order at least twice a month...:whistling:

I still think it's an abuse of the voting system. It's about the deals not the company.
I vote items hot that I'm not going to buy just because it's a good deal...should I vote it cold just because I have no use for the item???

sorry, but they are trash. I placed an order for the bargain £9.99 vacuum and received confirmation. Then a day later I emailed their customer services team to request my customer ref number so i could track my order online, only to be informed that of the following:
Thank you for your email.
Empire stores is to cease trading at the end of 2008. With this in mind and
as you have not shopped with us for some time your order will not be processed.
May we offer you our sincere apologies for any inconvenience.
Kind regards

In your opinion.
I could name several companies I can't stand but that's only because I have had a bad experience with them. Doesn't mean other people have to share my opinion of that company and, like I said, I wouldn't cold vote just because of my own personal experience.
Each to their own...now Littlewoods, on the other hand....:x

BTW
My 9.99 hoover just turned up!
Reliable as ever, my catalogue company!
#33
my vacum cleaners also arrived, £5.22 each :w00t:

Unfortunately I have also had probs with them. They accepted discount code fine and confirmed delivery within 5 days. Order never turned up. Called them and was told error on system & order not processed and that I would need to reorder. Didn't bother as got stuff elsewhere. Next thing I know, I get order few days later. I refused delivery - they then refunded only part of order, stating not all items returned. Once I told them delivery had been refused, they refunded with no questions asked. Makes me wonder what they try to get away with??Ever since, I do not trust them one bit, bargain or not.

I have nothing bad to say about empirestores i just wish they was a little cheaper but customer support is top in my book nothing bad to say about em...Unlike littlewoods there shobby customer support and the way they treet the customer is wrong in this day and age..

i ordered a laptop from empirestores yes well over charged but i didn't have to order it i got a note saying that the laptop was around the back of my house nothing there i rang them up and no problems with they sending another out and with no problem.

Littlewoods i ordered a Jacket and trainers from littlewoods and same again a note saying the goods wer ouside the back but nothing there and so i rang customer support up and after 2hours been passed from piller to post i managed to get the trainers knoked off but they refuse to take the jacket off stiff after i am talking to CAB and letters gone out there rufusing to take the jacket off so i am going to pay pay everything off and sod the catalogue off and leave the jacket on there not paying fore something i have not had.

sorry to go on but people slate Empirestores for the prices (simple don't order from them) try littlewoods for cheap prices

In the past I have been charged to pay a bill. My previous catalogue would make a service charge each time I tried to pay in. Maybe it's different now with everything turning electronic but I recall Littlewoods were the worst defender.
Grattan used to charge me to pay my bill too. I would pay it into Barclays which was actually their 'clearing' bank, only to be charged!
