2.5 IDE hard drives are pretty expensive compared to an equivalent sata so you may end up spending more in the long run.

Although this has now expired, does anyone know if this would be capable of recording off sky+HD? My guess would be no as I don't know of anything that does, but does anyone know for sure?

yeah also looking for something/device/recorder to record/transfer Sky+HD recordings(especially HD contents) to PC/external HDD etc.
