The skinny of it is that this £23 device turns your standard internal SATA (or old-skool PATA) harddrive into a self-contained mediacentre capable of playing video, HD video, music and pictures in various formats, and also into an external USB harddrive. It'll also stream media over your network, and record from any suitable analogue source directly onto your harddrive, making this a remarkably capable little device, and at a bargain price. The full specs run:

Play music, high resolution photos, and HD video on TV
Browse photos with background music playing
One Touch Record and Time-shift input video from AV-in port
Playback HD content through Component video output

Play files from USB storage device, and USB card reader through USB 2.0 Host port

It's not going to be a perfect device (these things never are - for all the cool features their hardware allow, their user interfaces never quite match up, and there's no HDMI which is a let-down), but at £23 delivered, I think it something of a bargain, especially when you consider that a USB harddrive enclosure alone sells for only couple of quid south of this figure.

The good news:

Now Supports IDE and SATA HDD drives using bridge board provided

Quick query
Is DivxHD the same as MKV?

Also can the drive be NTFS or just Fat32?

Nice edit... :p

Anyway, MKV is a container format, usually using the x264 format. You'll probably need to transcode your x264 content to DivxHD.

I got one of these a while ago.. You can format the drive into two partitions.. one at fat32 and one at ntfs. It won't play mkv/x264 format though, and I'm using the latest firmware on it.

This box is pretty good got one myself.
Only issue i have with it is as above mentioned it doesnt play MKV but you can easily convert it.
Aswell as this you cant use it as a media server
It WILL play media off your network but WONT stream to other devices..

Got one from ebuyer (@ £19.99 at the moment), have to say it is useless does not recognise either of my nas drives or networked computers (well most of the time), its very very noisy, a Sata hard rive does not fit well because of the adaptor all in all very poor also does not support a lot of avi's

I bought one from ebuyer for £20. Very happy with it. very quiet but does get a bit warm. I guess some of this depends on the drive you put in it.

Same here, for the money, it works well.. there is a firmware about which includes samba so you can push files to it from your PC as it shows up as a network device in explorer rather than pull off your network with it's internal file copy option.
