Great deal on rechargeable battery charger - however I think the main reason its so cheap is the lack of a 'cut off' and that the batteries take such a long time to charge.

You can pick up chargers which charge much faster for only a little more than this

I got these a while back and was a bit concerned around the charge times... the packaging says one thing, the leaflet inside doesn't have a time against those type of batteries (but the time quoted for 2500 was more than the time on the packaging) and when I mailed the help email it was returned so have never tried them.

If anyone has these already and knows exactly how long they SHOULD be charged then let me know but I can't find the info anywhere...

Until then they stay in my drawer and I'm on the lookout for some others

Yeah it is daft but i'll have to get one - always handy at xmas. I checked my order history with play and I've bought the same AAs in a four pack (without the charger) for £4.99 so they may drop the price again. Worth keeping an eye out for them.

I always just leave the batteries in the chargers - when they're charged the red light goes green and they get a trickle charge that keeps them topped up. NiMH have no "memory" so the time they stay charged isn't affected

You probably have an "intellegent charger" cheapskate58. This one is a standard charger so will carry on charging for ever if left plugged in. Overcharging can damage batteries.

jimpom23. To tell how long to charge your particular batteries, check the output current of the charger you have, usually expressed in milliamps (mA). All you do then is divide the mAh of your batteries with that of the charger.

For example, 2800mAh batteries in a charger with an output current of 1400mA will take 2 hours. A 700mA charger will take 4 hours to charge the same batteries etc etc

Nope, they are bog standard from Uniross, Ever Ready and another that I can't recall right now.

I just leave them in the mains and replace the batteries as and when they need changing from things like wireless remotes, keyboards, mice etc.

The chargers aren't hot when they've fully charged the batteries.

Everythings's fine and I've done this for quite some time:thumbsup:

Netto advertising these for in store next week for £5:thumbsup:

Not bad for all the crimbo toys at that price:santa:

These are still on flea bay for a lot higher:w00t:

I've had one of these that I bought from Play about 4 months ago, the batteries last twice as long on a full charge as any Duracell Alkaline ones I've used in my digital camera. Its a pound cheaper than I paid last time it was on offer so good deal

Bargain as play.com are selling the 4 batteries for £9.99 yet the 4 batteries and charger for £7.99 :santa:

You're welcome jimpom23. I'd recommend investing in a slightly more advanced charger, it takes all the hassle out of it. They aren't that much more expensive.
