Serving as the prequel to the now legendary 'QUAKE II', 'Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars' is the ultimate online team and objective-based multiplayer experience. Set within the epic 'QUAKE' universe in the year 2065, the game pits the Allied troops of the Global Defence Force (GDF) against a new Axis of Evil the barbaric and technologically advanced Strogg - during their initial invasion of Earth.

Gamers choose to play as Human or Strogg in one of five unique character classes. Employing an arsenal of weapons, vehicles and deployable armaments, players engage in an action-packed test of skill and coordinated teamwork through a series of combat objectives. Persistent character growth and achievements reward players for teamwork, while clearly defined mission and class objectives guide new players to meaningful contributions on the battlefield.

'Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars' employs new MegaTexture graphics technology, delivering large outdoor battlefields of unrivalled detail. These life-like recreations of real-world environments are designed specifically for objective-based team combat and include realistic terrain, lighting, special effects and atmospheric conditions.

Being an avid Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory player for around 6 years now I thought big things for this game, had it pre-ordered for a year from Amazon.

It's rubbish.

The gameplay is terrible, it's very poorly optimised, it's no fun and the competitive side is dull and unattractive.

An American friend of mine runs a server and at peak USA times he calculated that there was 36 out of around 1000 servers active and he then calculated that the average amount for each server is 11 players.

Obviously not many people like the game!

I'll stick to W:ET.

to be sure this game is not as good as BF2 / 2142 in the poularity stakes but whenever i have played it there are loadsa peeps online. You cant in all seriousness say its not woth £7? It looks gorgeous and runs fine on my C2D 2.33 with x1900 256 card! much better investment than stalker which i got recently for £5 which plays horribly and wasnt very involving at all. Different types of game i know but this is a MUCH better buy than that. I think its a good but at 14.99 tbh. just my 2 cents....

There are so many better games for £6.99 that have multiplayer and singleplayer. I think whoever buys this will regret it...

This game is really fun and cheap, I was amazed when I played it how detailed and fun it was, and the graphics where ok as well at times.

The action is fast and frantic but you have a clear indication of what your role is the game.

Much better than BF2142.

Dont listen to this inane fanboy rant above, its bargain at these prices.

Apparently it didnt do well because of a bad beta programme and being released to some heavy hitters like the orange box.

Haha, calling someone a fanboy on a forum when they said that they had it pre-ordered for a year!

Learn manners and get a life.

RiKx: stick with STALKER! It starts off slugglishly but became one of my favourite games in the end.

Acky stop going on like people shouldn't buy this game, I played W:ET since the beta and believe Quakewars is just as good as W:ET if not better. Very good deal voted HOT.

This is $39.99 through steam! Heat added, nice find!

This is my favourite multiplayer PC game of all time. No questions asked.

I'm amazed by those commenting that it was rubbish. It's detailed, fluid, absolutely beautiful, complex, interesting, dynamic and above all fantastic fun.

I want to comment on this particularly, because it might put people off buying. The game still has loads of people online. You can ALWAYS get a game with a ping under 100 at ANY TIME OF NIGHT OR DAY with at least 18-20 people on the same server. Servers are usually 24 man and at peak times there will be 15 or 20 of them with a ping under 100 maxed out, and a good number more with middling numbers.

Call of duty 4 has some 25 000 servers, and, proportionally they're almost ALL empty all the time. It's just a matter of scale. You won't have trouble finding a good game with either.

I don't know what it's like if you live in the states, but then again, most people buying here will not by playing in the states. Furthermore, I suspect your mate is talking from the back and low, if you know what I mean.

I picked this up at this price a few weeks ago and I have to agree....its pants. I have a petty fast p.c with a decent graphics card, it plays Crysis on high no problmes at a decent frame rate. This game looks **** though !

Played it once and its sat on the shelf since.

No fun at all ! so many better games than this, anyone with a 360 is much better off with HAlo 3 or Fuels of war..........
#23
Swear we have played a bit before.. I added you incase you are wondering who Murked is.

Expired now as deleted from stock list.

One play of the game is an unfair judgement - this is like Battlefield 2 but harder work to get into. Once you get into it, it can be an excellent game - it's just a bit tricky to get into. Worth persevering with, there's a great community too. At this price, it's a steal - even £10 is good.
