Just noticed in my local Morrisons supermarket - Energizer super fast 15 minute battery charger for £15. Comes complete with 4 X 2200 AA batteries and car adaptor (will also charge AAA batteries) - located on an end of isle special cardboard type display.
I have seen these at £13.99 at 7 day shop - but you have to add delivery.
Just done a price search and prices range from £62.99 - £13.99 + delivery with the average being about £30

This must be hot deal - if you are looking for a fast re chargeable battery set.

I would add photo of item - but cannot work out how you do this - any body help?
- gangey

The deal link takes you to the same product on the Amazon site just so you know which one it is - the Morrisons web site is not that good and does not mention the charger - you have to go into the store and find it. Sorry for any confusion.

Just picked one up. This is a bargain. They are located on their own promotional stands. For info, I got mine from Morrisons Northfleet.

'HOT' deal is right!!

I bought one of these, plugged it in, and 10 mins into charging i noticed smoke coming from the charger. I switched it off and let it cool. Examining it later one of the batteries had melted, and fused to the charger.

Thank god i was in the room, and got to it quickly!

- the remains are currently being examined by the Energizer safety team, and i await their findings / compensation.

I had the same result using the duracell 30 min charger except I was not in the room and only noticed a couple of days later.

I have had one of these for about 6 months now. Have tried it with lots of different batteries, all fine. I would say the batteries get warm but never hot. It has a large built-in fan which cools the batteries during the very quick (15-20mins) charging process.

You get a very handy car adapter, and four high quality 2200 AAs.

For this price it's a bargain, and would strongly disagree with anyone who claims otherwise.

Hmm smoke? At least the batteries didn't explode...like what happened to me with 7dayshop batteries...

(and that wasn't even a fast charger!!!)

My Uniross 15 min charger has a temp sensor...a metal strip in contact with the batteries...which will hopefully switch off the current to the batteries if it detects overheating. Batteries do get hot...but I believe they are rated to do so (if they are branded). Afterall, these 15min chargers are pumping in excess of 2A into the batteries.

Just be careful if you're using cheap rebranded Ni-mh (such as 7dayshop)...as they are usually rejects from factory lines supplying Uniross, Hahnel, etc

I have a Uniross 15minute charger - charges AA and AAA batteries. Has an LCD display showing how full they are too - get one of those instead - never had a problem :-) Has a mumma fan!!!!!

I got one of these, it has a fan inside so it shouldn't overheat! It will only get warm but that's understandable!
#13
I'm looking for a charger and batteries. One that can do all sizes including AA, AAA, and C's anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks

Is this a genuine 15 minute charger because the uniross 15 minute sprint I got has never charged within 15 minutes even when I charge just 1 battery, takes at least an hour and a half.
#15
Yes, 15 mins even when using all four slots.

Even cheap Aldi 2200 AA took less than 20 mins.
#16
Nice price, I only wish the Eneloop batteries would come down in price, I've been hoping to dump my standard nimh for those.
#17
I bought one of these from 7dayshop a few months back for my 360 and Wii controllers and I've not had any problems with it. The batteries do get hot but not so hot they'd burn you/melt anything and they're a god send for when mates come round for prolonged gaming sessions.
#18
I've had this charger for about a year and it is terrific. It only takes 15 mins or less to charge your batteries and there is a fan to keep the batteries cool. Voted hot.
#19
Just been into Morrisons in Rhyl and bought one. Thanks.
#20
got one from the stratford, east london branch. one left there. thanks Gangey. charlie.

There where none in the southport branch, but with a bit of searching i found it at 7dayshop for 13.99 plus delivery which is a one off 3.95 per purchase so i bought a few packs of dirt cheap £3.95 for 4 AA rechargables to make postage worthwhile.

Hi,

They still have stock in the St.Helens Morrisons (Baxters lane) .
I got mine from there - anybody experienced problems getting these to work in kids radio controlled toys? put a set in a Dr Who K9 and it would not work - found that the + end of the energizer battery does not stick out enough to make contact with the terminals - just mixed them with a couple of different make re chargeable batteries and it worked fine - seems to be part of the plastic moulding holding the energizer battery off the terminal. Also put them in another kids radio controlled car when still warm - would not work - but was OK when they cooled.
Anybody have any similar experiences??

I got one of the Sony charger and batteries sets from Play a while back when they were £9.99. They are £14.99 now, but still worth evey penny.

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/-/248/328/-/3335710/Sony-High-Capacity-Super-Quick-Charger-For-AA-And-AAA-Batteries/Product.html?searchtype=genre

I also bought a bunch more sony batteries - the 2700mAh variety because they hold lots of charge. Having used the charger and batteries many times during the last few months, I have not had a problem at all. The batteries come out of the unit warm to the touch but I would expect no less given how fast they are being charged.

I would highly recommend that sony unit to anyone. Now I find myself wondering if I am going insane, recommending Sony rechargable batteries after all the fuss in the last two years over Sony notebook batteries exploding ::)

I got one from there today, they had a few on display. Thanks for the top deal.

Will this charge any size (mah) batteries? I have some 2700 mah batteries and wondered if it would?

Thanks

I have had this Energizer for no more than about £15 from 7dayshop.com for a while now. This is their standard price, not sure what the price is. It is a great unit and the batteries do get warm to hot but depend on brand. I would always let the fan keeps going for another 5 mins before switching the unit off to take the batteries out. This has a mains charger and a car charger.

If you are looking for another cheaper but branded quality try this Uniross 15 min charger http://www.mymemory.co.uk/images/products/1176935676-large.jpg then try mymemory.com where there is a unit for about £6.99 but charges 2 batteries at a time (AAA or AA), not sure if it can charge just one battery This unit has a fan too. But at such fast charge of 15 mins you may be happen with this if you want to spend half the money on the unit!

In both chargers note that not all Ni-MH are chargeable in such a fast way. In the case of the £15 charger (Energizer) a flashing red light will tell you when a battery is not chargeable. It is a really god send , with 15 mins or less charging there is virtually no need to keep spares charged up!

Yes I have done in loadsa times, the time from memory is seldom above 15 mins ( I use 1800, up to 2800 maH ). So for lower capacities the time is shorter.

I feel ripped off buying my uniross one, it doesn't take 15 minutes to charge, how they can get away with calling it a '15 minute charger' when it is more like a 1 hour charger.

This Energizer one looks much better.
#30
So can they charge any size batteries?
#31
Hi,

Just been in to Morrisons St.Helens (Baxters lane) - and they have still got plenty of stock - promotional carboard type display on till's end of isle.

I have had no problems with my 7 day shop chargers, and the batteries last for ages. Offer at the moment is 4x2500 for £2.99, very good value. Charger is £5.99. Buy separately for better price than package deal.

Hi,

Still loads at Morrisons St.Helens (Baxters Lane)
#35
Are you sure this Morrisons charger only takes 15mins with the supplied batteries?

I am sure I read on the packet, that is for low capacity batteries 500mAh or so.

For 2200mAh as supplied it was about 2 hours to charge the batteries.
#36
Tried a couple of uniross 1300 mah 's in it - -took 15 min.
#37
The supplied batteries charged in 15 mins, top deal. Thanks op.
