Energizer Rechargeable Batteries 9V 1 Pack Battery *Instore* - 75P Tesco
Just been in my local Tesco Metro in Macclesfield and noticed these rechargeable 9V Energiser batteries for 75p. the tag on the shelf isn't one of the usual sale type yellow tags - see picture below.
Online these are still £6.70 and looking round the web that is about the same price everywhere.
Please note this is instore and not online.
Some blurn from the website follows:
An Energizer rechargeable 9V (PP3) battery. This battery can be recharged up to 1,000 times and is ideal for frequent and heavy use.
Energizer Rechargeable NiMH round cell batteries are available in all sizes, including AA, AAA, C, D and 9 Volt sizes. They can be recharged to full power at any time using a broad range of chargers - including the family charger, compact charger and ultra fast charger. Since the cells are rechargeable up to 1000 times, they're a good economic and environmental choice. It makes them ideal in high drain devices such as portable CD players, remote controlled toys, hand-held games, palmtop computers or any time you want to replace your standard batteries in your household's battery operated devices when you use them a lot.
Hope the pic link works below:

Yes and no.
Your charger will need the connections to match the top of the battery, ie, one male and one female.
Great price. Will check them out later.

Your not meant to use rechargable batteries because they go flat quicker than alkaline/zinc batteries, you probably wont even hear the low battery warning too (they die that quickly)

Apologies if my post was a bit brief.
The yes, was to yes you can use them on smoke alarms.
The no, was to standard AA - AAA chargers, which need the connectors for the 9V as I explained. Standard AA chargers don't have the facility to charge 9V batteries.
My smoke alarms are wired to the mains and use rechargeable batteries. The cheap stand alone alarms may be different, but I don’t see why rechargeable could not be used. Imo hybrid would be over specified. And where would you buy a 9V hybrid block for 75p???
I would have no problem in installing these in smoke alarms and recharging them whenever necessary.
I have a digital audio recorder which has a menu option where you can tell it whether it contains rechargeable batteries or not, precisely so that it can be more accurate in its estimation of remaining capacity.
I modify my comment above: legislate AAs, AAAs etc out of existence (like light bulbs of 60W or more) but give the PP3s a few more years as the smaller number sold means that they are both much less of an environmental nightmare and the economies of scale in producing hybrid versions have not yet been realised.
