Eliminating standby in our homes is not always easy.

If you’re anything like us, crawling around on the floor trying to reach plug sockets you haven’t seen in years doesn’t really inspire you to do your bit for the environment.
It’s especially difficult for the elderly and the disabled and let’s be honest, who really thinks about turning equipment off at the mains after each use?

Here at OneClick we did some research into wasted power. We discovered that electrical equipment such as computers and televisions and all the devices that are associated with them are commonly left on standby, wasting electricity and contributing to Global Warming.

The IntelliPlug™ and the IntelliPanel™ have been designed to make life easier, they automatically switch your equipment off when it is no longer in use. No more standby – no more wasted power.

Our range of IntelliPlugs™ and IntelliPanels™ are the only products of their type to have been independently tested to British Standard, designed to last for more than fifteen years and are recommended by the Energy Saving Trust and we are really proud of that.

These achievements are down to our technological advances, patented technology and a really hard working team who are sticklers for perfection. We can confidently say that we have never sold a product that we haven’t been 100% happy with and frankly we’re not about to start.

To date OneClick have sold nearly 1 million products and we estimate that together we’ve saved almost 50 million kilograms of Carbon Dioxide emissions.

Was wondering the same but I do know that some of the energy companies have been offering these for free. Voted hot as a good price for those who can't get them for free.

I believe they still are, my nan had one delivered a couple of weeks ago (without ordering), we manually ordered our one free from the website.
Slightly different, but basically the same.
Here's the link for a free one....works with one of any existing remote controller (you program the monitor)

I agree.
I guess they are just thinking about these mega-techy people who have a million and one things running. Would you also plug your Wireless router into this?

Agreed. I think that the desktop version is far more practical. Good price though. :)

It appears that this is only any use if you use your laptop as a desktop with other peripherals attached. As my printer, modem etc. are all wireless and some distance for my laptop it doesn't appear to be any use to me. Don't know why it won't work with a desktop, but apparently it won't:

"Intellipanel for Laptop Computers
The original Intellipanel knew the attached computer had been turned off or been put into standby mode by detecting the drop in power drawn through the master socket used for powering the computer. Unfortunately this method could not be used with laptop computers since they continue to draw power to recharge their internal battery even when switched off.

Now the manufactures of Intellipanel, One Click Technologies Ltd have come up with a new Intellipanel product (pictured above) specifically for use with laptop computers. A USB cable is used to connect the laptop to the Intellipanel to tell it when it is switched off or in standby mode.

Both types of Intellipanel are recognised by the Energy Saving Trust. They have a total of eight sockets - seven for peripherals and one master socket - and offer power surge protection, a telephone/modem splitter, and they are Mac and PC compatible.

Buying an Intellipanel
Unfortunately the laptop Intellipanel cannot be used with desktop computers and visa versa. Both are priced the same at around £30.00. The Intelliplug is now also available in a USB-connected laptop version in addition to its standard desktop version for around half the price of the Intellipanel."

Pointless......if you believe 'their' info
There are completely seperate ones for each, that 'specify' laptop or desktop etc, the reason being, apparently, the products work/power differently - I'm not going into all the stats etc, but you can see it clearly on their website

unless you leave you laptop plugged in and connected to this via usb im struggling to see the usefulness of this. Assuming you plan to use your laptop as a portable device you have the extra nuisance of connecting it via usb to this panel each time. I have a individually switched extension lead which allows each device to be turned on and off as desired.
