Popped into Broughton WHSmith today and saw they had a load of England stuff cheap by the tills.

They had :

England Pint Glasses, mugs, teddys, car air freshners, A5 note pads, bottle openers, flags, facepaint. stationary sets, calculators, flags.

I assume its nationwide as England are rubbish and got knocked out, getting rid of all their stock!

I spent 2 quid and got 4 pint glasses, a mug, bottle opener and 2 freshners, good deal me thinks!

Cold? Madness!

10 pint glasses for £2.50!

What I don't understand is, I live in Glasgow city centre, and I walked past Gap Kids, England emblazoned clothes in the window! In Poundland there's a bucket full of footballs, some of which have England on them. Both only a few days ago.

Unless, of course, the Scots buy these things to wind their English mates up?

As a (male) friend said to me, at least Scotland KNOW they're crap. But I won't involve myself in any football discussion as I'd rather talk about gadgets, shoes, makeup and boys.

I imagine the contents of the glass ought to be cold

Fantastic prices - I don't think I'll be buying anything, except maybe some notepads just 'cos they're cheap. However, if you are a footie fan, you can always buy everything ready for Euro 2012 and just pray England qualify... Heat/rep added

Going to check tommorrow and pick me up some notepads.

Problem is the future looks even worse, the team is aging and theres nobody coming through to replace our so called golden generation. If the FA dont follow the likes of Germany and Spain by securing financial support for lower league teams and academys, the national team will win diddly squat.
#13
I'll buy them out and hang England flags up everywhere, just to be ironic.

I know we are out of the world cup but we have just won the one day internationals with two games remaining against the Aussies and could white wash them in that before the ashes starts, rather than looking at it as a glass half empty you could look at it as a glass half full as we also have a rugby team too. So there is always an opportunity to use these things if you enjoy more than just football (which we didn't even turn up for:x)
#15
I don't feel like buying anything with a george cross on it at the moment :(
#16
Golden Generation????? who the hell can call them that??? They shame the Flag they represent with their performance.

I wouldn't put them on the Generation Game. Only thing gold about that lot is there ego and bank accounts.

It was my last chance for this collection of ego maniacs for me and they failed to even try yet again. zzz zzz zzz

I'm not going to watch them again until this bunch of lazy gits have all gone

most shops have deals on the football stuff, Tesco, Asda and even M&S have 70% off

At least the Scots go down fighting and can hold there head up high.

good for throwing on the bbq for longer lasting flames :-D

Wouldn't waste my petrol and parking money!
In fact I wouldn't accept these if they were given to me.

Not voted either way.

The overpaid prima-donnas have so massively let down the fans and the country that the word "England" on anything makes it virtually unsellable at the minute.

They're awash with unearned golden bling is why.
Thick as pigsh*t, overpaid more than investment bankers, and almost as unearned, I hope they all lose their team places as well. John terry can help his dad in his...er...line of work that got him in trouble lately, Rooney can return to being a scouse charver thug, and...ah whats the use. This lot have been the worst representatives England have had in a World Cup since the disgraceful defeat to the USA in 1950

At last, another human being who realisese that the George cross flag is relevant outside of f**king football. It really is truly moronic when all people do is associate the flag to football. It happens to be the national flag of England, but perhaps that's too intelligent for most football fans and their simple word association thinking. England - flag - football - crap - Sun - newspaper - buy - now.
It can represent other sports in which England participate or even non-sporting events that have a national interest, but I'll leave you explore that world on your own as it's probably too hard to take in...yawn. At least most Scots are proud of their flag and display it whatever happens and they're not fairweather patriots like a lot of the English population (and I'm English).

Oh by the way I'm not a football hater. Voted hot.

Or there's always The Ashes, or the Rugby World Cup (2011).

Of course there are other sports, but we are, or were being represented by the national sport in England, by way of the World Cup!
So it's natural for people to associate the George Cross with the unfolding events of the last few days.

Oh by the way I'm a cricket hater!

I think they'd struggle to even give these away, never mind charging for them
#31
Everything 10p in my local wilkos.
#32
I did actually see some England mugs and things I liked a week or so ago, I thought at the time, I'll just buy this when it's been reduced to almost nothing when England are out of the world cup and all these false patriots don't care for another however many years.
#33
They should be giving this stuff away free! :whistling:
#34
i'll probably stock on a few of these bits. I renewed my England membership the day after the game at a cost of £75. Probably could have had mug tattooed on my forehead for cheaper

I seem to recall from way back in 1978 that for some reason the Scotland World Cup song remained in the top 20 for several weeks after their exit at the group stage. I think England fans kept buying it to wind up the Scots by forcing them to keep hearing "We are all in Ally's army, we're off to the Argentine, and we'll really shake them up when we win the world cup, 'cos Scotland are the greatest football team". At least we had the Archie Gemmil goal to remember!

The Sweaties didn't even qualify. Stick to playing Arbroath, Partick Thistle etc 190 times a year
#37
I'm no football fan but would like to thank them for their failure and the bargains that are now before us.

Most football fans will have forgotten about the World Cup in a weeks time if they haven't already done so and we can all go back to laughing at the sweaties.
