For the past few months Sky have been sending me these half price offers. You need a working dish and digibox, otherwise additional charges apply. Not sure, but no harm trying! I didn't start receiving these offers until about 6 months after I cancelled.

"Offer only available to recipients of this email who are former Sky TV residential customers in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man."

I guess it depends whether you have received the email...

the number listed isnt working for me and i cant find a sales number for sky
#5
Has anyone who is a current subscriber tried to obtain this offer by saying "I'm thinking of leaving..."?
#6
My half price offer is coming to an end on the 4th December and I called them earlier this month to give a months notice and eventually was offered another 6 months at half price which I accepted.

Apologies, I have updated with the correct phone number.
#8
I asked for the 6 months half price but was told they could only provide if I accepted a new 12 months contract. So I cancelled. Some 7 days letter after several communications I responded saying I wanted 6 months half price with no tie-in. Duly accepted by sky. Why they couldnt have done this the first time, who knows. Like the idea of 12 months, may try to get this.
#9
I called the phone number but they advised the mailers was not linked to my address and could not take the offer. Has anyone else had any success with the code. I also tried online but didnt work.

i work for sky the offer isnt a valid one. im in cancelations know all the tricks of the trade you have to basically have been a great customer and been with us for a very long time. if you want to try your luck and cancel and be without sky tv for a year before getting it back i shall be speaking with you all very soon, dont expect any offers either to be honest

Not a valid one? I was with Sky for a year, on a half price deal I got through work. I cancelled in Feb when the deal came to an end, so not sure I was a great customer, I hadn't been with them for a long time, and I haven't been without sky for more than a year...

Clearly you don't know enough, as proven by previous poster.

I was a customer for several years, cancelled this summer and then got rung up after a month and offered half price on any packages for a year with the option to up/downgrade at any time + £50 in M&S vouchers.

Yes I was called a while ago, and said I'd never go back to them after all the hassle I had when I left (maybe I dealt with tbomb?). They sent me letters and emails for the last 3 months with half price deals. The one I had last month also offered £50 M&S vouchers, but this one didn't.
#15
Cancelled earlier in the year, on the 30th day they rang and offered 12 months half price, but sadly no vouchers.

tbomb's a trainee I reckon
#16
I got basic package for a year + all kids for extra 1 pound total 10pound down form 70 + per month plus I got 50 M&S vouchers which took 4 weeks to arrive.

Total and utter rubbish, you can get Sky to give offers all the time if you're an existing customer and phoen to cancel

they treat existing customers like ****. I've been on the top package for ages. Now going to cancel. I dont care anymore. Can go to the pub for football. Going to get freestat. Just think of the money I'm going to save!!
#22
We were with sky for nearly 10 yrs and got rid, they keep sending offers through but we choose to ignore them as we had trouble with repairs, billing and pretty much everything else, plus they never look after their good customers until they are gone. Their whole business ethos seems to be get you then ignore you and concentrate on new customers

I've recently cancelled, as I was paying £61 a month. they offered me a Sky+HD box, so I could sample HD, I accepted. The engineer came out and refused to go to the dish (Which SKY themselves had installed) due to health and safety regulations (Apparently they are not allowed to climb up to a dish!?). I was so annoyed that I immediately rang up and cancelled everything. Because of this obnoxious engineer, Sky have lost my £61 a month. And to be honest...im getting along just fine.

IF they rang me up and offered me a half price deal, I may take it, only due to the fact that my housemate cried when we got rid of it. Apprently he misses the background music of MTV

Yes you probably will be speaking with me very soon too, and if i dont get offered a decent enough deal to keep me as a customer then i dont care if i dont have sky tv for the next 12 months as its a bloody rip off for the crap service and my box is on the blink and i aint paying for a new one as i pay enough every month as it is!. Plus my house is fully set up for cable and then i wont get the interference when it bloody rains or snows.

I've regularly got half price, or 25% off deals - in fact, I've been with sky for about 6 years on and off, and for most of that time I've not paid full whack.
Currently on 50% off for 6 months, simply phone to cancel, be nice but say you can't afford it.

It can be a bit untenable saying you can't afford £20 a month and then plumping for a £28 a month Sky World pack with HD...but still...they don't mind.
#26
Any other deals around for sky? got rid of virgin and am moving so if anyone knows any cheers.

I cancelled my sky subscription about 1,5 year ago, when I moved to virgin media. I'm now moving house in January and was thinking of getting a sky in my new house. Would there be any interesting offer for me? I wanted to get all entertainment packs, unlimited broadband, talk free-time and line rental, also one of this boxes that record two programs at once. I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

i cancelled my contract about 10days ago, my card is still active until about the 5th Dec but called about this deal and was told no , but I did get 1/2 price for 6 months , they then cancelled the cancellation as well LOL
#29
Mine runs out about march/april. I refuse to pay full price so i'll just cancel and take my chance on an offer....
You can then sell your old HD box cant you? As you get a new one upon installation?
#30
I'm on the Sky World package just now with half price tv for a year and free HD for a year through a friends and family code.

It runs out in Feb and whilst I can stomach paying the £25.50 per month then is not a chance I am going to pay £60 odd per month at the end of the 12 months! That is just mental!
#31
Sky isn't worth what they charge for it. I cancelled and was offered some pretty basic incentives to stay and even these didn't really make the deal worth it (I even had to sit there over two minutes whilst the cancellations guy tried to do some basic mental arithmetic). I cancelled and a week before my TV was due to go off I was phoned and offered 12 months for 1/2 price with no contract. I could also add anything else to the package for the same 1/2 price at any time. The price I am now paying is more like what I consider Sky to be worth (less if you include the customer service but what do I know).

Sky are always up for a deal if you go through to cancellations, we recently got a free visit from the engineer who replaced are sky hd box free of charge, This was only 3 weeks ago.

Last week we rang up to see how much it would cost to get multi room in the both the kids bedroom and was quoted £109 for two standard boxes with installation. I asked to go through to cancellations and came away with free installation and two sky hd boxes for the kids bedrooms providing I took out a 12 month subscription to hd again, which would be free for the first 6 months.

I was well pleased with this offer, basically I've had 3 sky hd boxes installed and a years sky hd all for £60 quid, bargain. I have been a customer for 11 years now so perhaps that's why they were so helpful.

If you don't get anywhere try ringing back at another time and you may get an advisor who is more willing to help.

I left a few months ago after being a Sky customer for 15 years or so. Tried to get some offers but they wouldn't give me anything at all to keep my business. I've now gone to Virgin and save £35 a month over Sky for the top tv, BB and phone with HD in 2 rooms. There isn't as many HD stuff with them but the Virgin+ is fine and for a safving of £35 a month, good ridance to Sky, you bunch of idiots.
#34
I had sky phone me last month pretty much begging me to return and they offered me 12 months half price on any package plus £50 M & S voucher! to top it off they only put me on a one month cancellation notice so i can walk away whenever i like...........i cancelled my sky in october 2009.

That's Sky for you! There's always small print!

Best bet is to go to FreeSat - you don't get all the stuff on Sky, but the only thing you really cannot get is top sport - Sky 1 hasn't had a quality programme for 8 years.

... nice one tbomb. You just provided perfect backup for people that are sick of Sky's attitude to customer service. You're a sad jobsworth who's been brainwashed to think that his multi-billion pound company is more important than real people.
