Atlaschoice looks OK
I got excess cover policy through Questor, it was about £34 for the year. About the same as it would cost for one weekend from Enterprise. I did have to make a claim recently and got paid out within a week once I had supplied all the documentation online.

Just got a quote from atlaschoice for whole weekend at Birmingham Airport(Local to me) for £20.34 with discount code (Volkswagon Polo)
But who would want to spend a whole weekend at Birmingham Airport? oO:D

This is per day, not weekend. not a bargain.
Where's cheaper?
Go to travelsupermarket click on hire car or atlaschoice.co.uk dependent where you pick up, ie Birmingham Airport you can pick weekend for around £25 (ie Fiesta, Corsa models) from reputable firms. If you go direct to hire firms it will be more expensive. (I find airport locations more cheaper than downtown)

Fine if you live close to an airport. You won't find cheaper prices elsewhere

I have the Costco Amex card, as well as a Barclays one. I was asking one of their reps yesterday if I'd get charged a foreign transaction fee if I use the card in America - they didn't know. I guess I'll phone Amex to clarify.
Maybe this will help you - https://www.americanexpress.com/uk/content/travel.html?inav=gb_menu_travel_money_abroad

Thanks, yes that did clarify. Seems crazy that if I use an American Express card in America, I will be charged additional fees...

Does anyone know, if I use amex in Canada will I get charged a foreign transaction fee?
I would think so. Which Amex card do you have?
Are you just asking about general spend in Canada - not linking to trying to use this deal there right (as T&C state UK & Ireland only).

Yes, just wondering generally. I have the Costco Amex card, as well as a Barclays one. I was asking one of their reps yesterday if I'd get charged a foreign transaction fee if I use the card in America - they didn't know. I guess I'll phone Amex to clarify.

great price, do you buy any chance know what sort of surplus ill be looking at being 24?
I would say you have at least a 10 stone surplus there, Ideally you would need to loose 14 stone to live a longer life. :{

Edited By: biggysilly on Jun 12, 2014 22:19
Further to my last post TCB will bring the price down even more.
This is for the smallest car and there are ALWAYS extras with car hire. Shop around for cars with no excess or take a years worldwide excess policy for less than a weeks cost at the main rental firms. I use icar hire insurance but there is also money maxim or protect your bubble.Never yet had to claim so i cannot say how good they are.

Thanks for posting. checked it online, my local branch wasn't doing the Weekend price, but something almost double. thinking that was strange i called local, which said it should be the 'Special' price. Missed out on any online discounts but paying £44 instead of £102 is quite a saving.
will def be taking pics of the car & interior. thanks for the advice Pipcola & sheebs.
make sure it has clean seats when giving, else ready for a charge of 35£ :(

great deal but if i want to get it after 27th May and 6th June than what will be cost..
I get £9.99 per day for my location (no offer) at Norwich
I called them and found out, that the deal applies only for their locations outside the M25.
The link works for me but there is a problem that they don't give a list of participating locations. I tried entering every location they have in London but after 3 times the system started to show me that they couldn't find such a location. Would love to book this one as I need a car for that weekend but the site is so uncomfortable that I might give up on that.

AVOID at all costs - they will try to fleece extra money from you. And certainly dont have a cigarette because they will charge you for valeting - when they valet all cars anyhow! The cheeky sods at preston will say to you to return the car empty as they charge less for fuel "because they buy so much" ! If you read the paperwork its actually 30 pence more per litre than at the pump! Yes they may be cheap when you take the car but they certainly aint cheap when you return it - save yourself a few quid!
not very good was still had to pay 150 young driver charge so not worth it tbh
Would not recommend this company to anyone.hired a van on friday past due back saturday, told by sales guy to call if delayed,Got delayed due to major tailbacks because of accident on motorway called office in Aberdeen at 10 to 12 - message says office you require is closed now im left with the van till monday morning, handed it back and they took all my deposit bar £11.called about it and got well tuff attitude were keeping your money....Go to ARNOLD CLARK,Slightly dearer, but dont rip you off
I've just handed my hire car back and Enterprise were great. I had booked a Class A car (Ford Ka) but they gave me a Class B Vauxhall Corsa. The bigger car was nice, but I was sorta after high mpg over size. they offered to pick me up or drop me home and not a sausage wrong with the car.

Also, when I was booking, I tried just a three day hire and the price came through as £36.97 for the three days so perhaps the four day limit isn't necessary?
sanut
I could do with a MPV, but the price is £60 per day.

Anyone know of a better deal?

Today it's £44.79! I am still on the lookout for a better one..

NOT HAPPY! :(

I managed to get a car to take to a funeral. It was dark when they picked me up to get it. The guy walked me round the car to look at any marks etc but i couldnt see much as it was 6pm and the car was near a lamp post so not good light. He still gave me the form so i could sign that there was no damage. I wrote 'DARK'. I hope they have the sense to realise i was unable to see any damage.
PLUS the car was disgusting inside! All the areas to put your bits and pieces in the center console were full off sticky hair and tobacco and prolly dead skin cells from more than one person. DISGUSTING!
I have used this company a few times and have been very happy. They knew i was using the car the following day for a funeral so ii am pretty foofed off.

In regards to any damage on the car, just give it a check in the light, and if you spot anything, give them a call and tell them to write it on the contract.

Which branch did you get the car from? There's no excuse for a car to go out in such a state.

St albans branch. I took some pics of the scummy dirt. I dont want to even touch it myself to clean it, euwww lol

I might complain about the brakes as when i use them i nearly catapult myself through the windowscreen oO Lol, only joking :D

I'm going to rent with Enterprise this weekend after reading this thread. Just a few questions regarding the pick up service. I booked a car for Saturday at 9:30 and then phoned the branch to ask them for a lift to the branch but they said they work on 9-12 on Saturdays and can't specify whether they can come get me before 9:30 or not and just repeated that they work a 3 hour window on that day. My questions are:

1) I put on the booking form that I will be picking the car up at 9:30 but if I do not get the lift to the branch until 11:30, must I still return the car at 9:30?
2) For future references, if I book a car with enterprise and need a lift to the branch, there is no way of telling what time they will come? For example, if I want to get a car at 9am, I shouldn't expect to be able to get the car at 9am if I want them to give me a lift to the branch?
3) would they give me a lift back to my home after I return the car or would I have to wait an hour or two before I can get or ride back?

Hi Slash. The time that you'd have to return the car by is the time the contract is printed, regardless of what time you book the car for. They'll always give you a ride home. To be sure that you're not waiting, it's really helpful to the branch to give them a call before you set off so that they know to have someone available to give you a ride.

Saturdays can be difficult for branches as they operate on half of the staff (take it in turns on alternate weekends), and with only being open for 3 hours, it can tend to get a little busy. They should be able to give you a time window that they can pick you up.

anyone know why it comes up with (SPECIAL) £15.31 rate for class A now ?

Im trying to pick up this 11.99 deal but its not having it ?
You can get your own hire car excess insurance really cheap- like £8 a day from independent insurance companies. I always do this when hiring a car!

PS Most people do not have cars- e.g. a lot of people in London mostly use public transport and don't have car parking space!
Be careful, they are very pushy to sell you extra insurance and have a zero tolarance even on the tiniest scratch!!! They also use cheap car models, which some of them are awful to drive. Like a Matiz, Aveo.
My advice, check other companies first, there are always some offers out there.

Remeber my words! I travel a lot and have rented cars everywhere.
AbuHaneefah
If anyone is likely to go for this I would suggest trying the easyjet car hire where they offer you double the difference refund. This way if you can find a cheaper car (I can't in my area). Then you can get some money back too.NB. Its not Easy Car but EasyJet then 'Car Rental'

i cant see nothing about double the difference refund this on their website anywhere !!
Mawby
Why can a 20 year old like myself, drive a brand new insignia company car, but cannot hire a ford KA for a weekend?

Strange world mate but even stranger is you could be at war in Iraq or Afghan & still not be able to hire one of these cars. Damn crazy world.

Thought it was £200 - thought you could only pay by Visa so therefore you would have it. Suppose it could be cash although extra id needed?

Obviously some people are voting cold - I am not bothered BUT the whole idea of the site is to help people so post the reason for voting cold. Just hired two cars and got 5 door corsa until Saturday for less than £70 which is far better than anywhere else.
