tastecard? does it work at the kebabby? :D
I remember eating out maybe once a term when I was a student. Apart from a greasy spoon most weekends! Good old T.W.A.T cafe (The Warm As Toast before anyone gets upset ;))
Yea when I was at poly I spent my money on beer and some chips afterwards, but I thought things had changed these days, even fresher's week is like a convent so I hear, half price prezzo pizza should suit the new wave just fine!
Hmmm...in the days of the Polytechnics, which were gradually phased out after 1992, students got reasonably sized grants -- which of course they didn't have to pay back. Surely you could have afforded more than just beer and chips? :p:D

Just be aware of this:
Q: When will I receive my Amazon voucher?
A: Your voucher will be dispatched after 90 days. You will not qualify for an Amazon.co.uk gift card if you cancel your subscription within 90 days.
Well, not a deal then.

I could be wrong, but you'd have to cancel on the 91st day, then they would charge you £6.00 for the week, so the £10.00 voucher would only really be £4.00.
Desperate to flog it.

Funny that some actually still believe Governments... be it left or right wing are on the side of the people ;)
Uncle Rupert must be hurting a lot by now, since paper media is dying anyways and he seems desperate for more mugs who pay to read the right wing **** propaganda.

ANy idea how much they are making on the online subscriptions? Even that must be down by now. (hopefully).

Cant wait for this scum to die out and never recover, but alas, even the bankers on their morning commute read "The Sun". What can Britain expect at those levels?
Can you cancel anytime in the last month, as long as there are more than 15 days to go?

These companies always try to catch you out.

Cold... comical right wing lies and spin

Cold - just for their non-reaction to the Hillsborough inquest

Lot of ill-informed idiots on here who won't let the facts get in the way of their left-wing prejudices. Re the last quote above, the paper did in fact cover the inquest verdict quite extensively. Their second edition of the day after the verdict splashed it over the front page, and there were many articles covering the inquest before the verdict and about the verdict and it's consequences. The Times is not The Sun, even if it is owned by the same group.

But who'd want to sell their soul to the Murdochs (Sun and Times)?
They're already effectively running the country using their influences via the media and their political friends.
Do you want to make it even worse? oO
You do know the BBC has more journalists, more coverage and more public contact than News UK? So your point isn't really valid.
You do know that's a crazy argument, don't you?

The BBC has far more resources devoted to international news, certainly, and wider coverage, but there's one big difference - it's under a legal obligation to report honestly and without bias. Left and right both claim that it's biased against them, so it's pretty certain that it maintains a central position. Conservatives don't like that, of course, because they're more used to the right wing bias of pretty much all the UK press.

News UK has no obligation to be unbiased, and it certainly isn't. It regularly uses its position to influence its readers, and in the case of Sun readers it usually succeeds - simply because most of them aren't bright enough to realise that they're being brainwashed and lied to.

What I really object to is Murdoch/News UK's misuse of their position to influence politicians and indeed manipulate the outcome of elections to suit their own financial ends. It's patently wrong, it isn't in the interests of the UK, and it's a pity that some way isn't found to prevent this misuse of power.

Taste Card costs a bit extra and is a very limited version, only valid at restaurants listed on the NUS website.
No, it is the full version and included at no extra cost. Times+ website provides a redemption code that can be used here: https://www.tastecard.co.uk/redeem/timesplus

You don't get a plastic card, but have access to all the usual offers - just use the tastecard app on iOS/Android/Windows phone.

If £12 is eligible then not bad price for 12 month Taste card. Loads of choices around City areas.
where did you find it for £20? I can't be bothered with these memberships that I need to remember to cancel etc!

£20 per year membership is for Students via Unidays

I'm voting hot. You'd never buy a times plus membership just for this, but if you have one anyway ( great value for access to film previews, other events, as well as discount on the times) this is a new freebie they have just added it is worth knowing about.

Street price of a year of tastecard is about £30, whereas my Sunday Times subscription is only £94 a year all in. (£2 a week, but you can cancel for 5 holiday Sundays.)
depends on where you are. I got one for free and we went out more with the kids. just meant going into the big towns and cities near by. saved us 50% there are plenty of restaurants to chose from in my experience.

Good prompt. They offered me that earlier this year. Only downside is that they said they only offer that ONCE, ie having had the 3m trial and now the 3m discounted period, that's likely to be their last offer before insisting on full price, and even actually cancelling won't get a counter offer from them.
Do make sure to cancel before the full-price period begins (from memory you have to do it something like at least 2 weeks before) AND watch out for them taking a month's sub anyway. That happened to me and I had to phone to claim a refund. Their excuse was that I cancelled the day the payment run ran!
Not sure how soon one can sign up afresh for a fresh 3m trial. (With the FT you have to wait a year between 1m trials.)
Phoned them to cancel after another 3 months. After a few minutes of chit chat they offered another 3 months at half price on a different subscription (Mon-Fri instead of Mon-Sat) as they couldn't extend the same deal for another 3 months.
Still find it strange why people pay good money to read yesterdays news ? Good deal if you want to be 24 hours behind ;)

I predict The Times will soon disappear from the myWaitrose offer.

Why.... Because they have thin banners at the check out advertising new year stuff and on the reverse is paper offer info that shows Guardian, Telegraph and Mail only. Also in our store all the free paper signage has currently mysteriously disappeared - anyone else scoped this in their store?
Nanajane
MK-Donald
..Extra tip: If you're a myWaitrose customer you can of course buy your Sunday Times there on Sunday - as part of a £10 shop - and get a £2.50 credit towards your shopping, as well as being able to redeem your (£2 cost) voucher/coupon to pay the £2.50 paper cost.
Re extra tip... just want to clarify as I usually shop mid week are you saying that Waitrose give you £2.50 off a £10 shop on a Sunday in addition to a free paper?
Thanks Jane

Leaving aside any subscriber coupons - shopping at Waitrose with a myWaitrose card entitles you when your in-store basket includes a qualifying newspaper and the basket totals £5.00+ weekdays or £10.00+ weekends to:

"...save the respective newspaper cover price off the cost of your shopping..."

See T&C link on http://www.waitrose.com/home/mywaitrose/newspaper_offer.html

So they don't give you a "free newspaper" - they give you a SAVING of the cost of the paper - that's why you can still use your subscriber coupon to pay for your subscribed newspaper that's included in your £5/£10 shopping basket.

So yes - on a Sunday if you've included a Sunday Times in your £10+ basket their computer will give you a £2.50 myWaitrose credit, and allow you to present a Sunday Times subscriber voucher @ £2.50 to pay for the paper - hence net paper cost = zero and your shopping basket is £2.50 lighter too.

And if you have bought more than one qualifying newspaper their computer is even clever enough to automatically credit the price of the most expensive paper!

I know this 100.00% as I have done it most days for c15 months. Only very occasionally a new member of staff is confused, but the old-hands soon educate them (it happened earlier this week - her colleague apologised next day and said 'they were new - they've come from John Lewis... they'll get used to our Waitrose ways soon..."]. I've only ever once, in the early days, needed to get a Supervisor to sort out the till operator as the T&Cs are quite clear.

I signed up for this, you get a book of vouchers. Anyone know who accepts the voucher? Is it pretty much universal?
Pretty much - so many regular newspaper readers now subscribe (for the significant £ savings) that most newspaper vendors will be very familiar with them - all the supermarket chains are, just don't expect them to redeem them other than on the date printed! Some small/corner newsagents MAY decline them as obviously they have to do a lot of work to redeem them for often just '1p', versus immediate assured cash in hand!

(BTW If you read the T&Cs you will find they offer some 'holiday' credits in case you go away/abroad during your sub - ie where you let them know in advance and then send the unused voucher(s) back to them during a defined period to get a refund.) .

Extra tip: If you're a myWaitrose customer you can of course buy your Sunday Times there on Sunday - as part of a £10 shop - and get a £2.50 credit towards your shopping, as well as being able to redeem your (£2 cost) voucher/coupon to pay the £2.50 paper cost.

If anyone does this, I would strongly advise against using PayPal as your payment method. I did, it apparently 'didn't filter through the system' correctly, and I've spent hours getting in touch with them this week trying to get it sorted. Still not happening.. they've taken the money (and listed the subscription) twice, and I keep getting confirmation e-mails pretty much daily. But no Spotify codes.

In fact, if my experience is anything to go by, maybe you should just steer clear completely.
£20 Quidco too
Hmm, I currently subscribe to spotify at £4.99 a month.

Doing this would effectively mean I'd be paying £3.60/mo for access to the websites and a sunday paper. Tempting!
Thanks, great deal.

Signed up for the discount on Spotify and got the 1 year code within a couple of hours, added to my existing account, now next billing date is November 2015.

Everything else is just a bonus!
Great deal. I'd starting buying the paper on Sunday's and was thinking about resubscribing to the Sunday only option when this came along. Effectively you get:

- The paper/ipad edition every Sunday; depending on the option you choose.
- Access to the website (full access to both the Sunday Times and The Times websites during the week)
- Premier League highlights through the website or The Times mobile app for iphone/android. Not sure about ipad (I assume you'd get them on Sunday, not sure about on Saturday's or midweek).
- The Times mobile app to get the best bits of The Times/Sunday Times during the week.
- 12 months Spotify premium.

They charge £8.67/month for 12 months, which if you're paying £9.99 for Spotify (unless you're planning to save by getting one of their forthcoming family packs) is a bit of a no-brainer.
