Just built this PC with the same components (except the case) for £190.40 at cclonline inc. delivery. So with a 12month warranty, plus them building it for you this isn't a bad price.

I might be wrong but this appears to be the same computer with a, imo, better case for £1 more.

Thanks OP, hopefully there will be some stock left when I get paid!

is it any better to go for an athlon or a phenom processor?
#7
Bang in a 5830 for £80 and you've got a cracking little gaming machine (plus 'legit' version of windows)
#8
Phenom quicker for gaming at equiv speed, the cache does make a fair bit of difference.
I'd go for a phenom x3 for similar price and unlock 4th core
#9
I've never heard of the site. Are they any good?
#10
Hi guys,

Mated with another 4gb and a decent card, would this run Shogun 2?

Cheers

stone cold because of this
"WARRANTY"
whislt they can put fancy terms on it the law states in the first 6 months faults are deemed to be manufacturing faults unless the warrentor can prove otherwise, how can they do this if they dont collect it?

There's no requirement for a retailer to bear the shipping costs for warranty repairs. This approach is pretty common.

Stone Cold!

Madness this has gained so much heat - this is significantly worse than a much better deal here :

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/extra-value-desktop-intel-pentium-dc-e5800-3-2ghz-4gb-ram-1tb-hdd-dvd-writer-no/90032

Not true, that bundle is using one of intels last last generation processors with no life left in it at all, this AMD is quad core, faster and upgradable.

Good deal but...

This may be in breach of you statutory rights, they are actually obliged to pay for collection whether they would refund your return costs is unclear here.

Warranty
[2] Day 15 to 1 year - we operate a return to base policy. Simply return the item to us and we will repair the PC and ship back to you.

actually there is, or rather the onus is on them because as i stated they would be unable to prove anything without collecting it, hence the onus arises because its stated in law there is no obligation on the customer to return the item.

Last time I returned something to Play.com they did no pay for collection so does that mean they are in breach of your statutory rights.

unless play is in europe where this law applies then no, otherwise yes.

Seems like decent bang for your buck. Amazed this level of performance is getting so cheap.
#24
Why have they only put 2gb ram in this?
#25
So they can sell for £213 instead of £233?

Not everyone needs more than 2gb. If you're just using office, bit of light photoshop use, converting dvds, browsing web and playing DVDs 2gb is fine.
#26
Just wanted to check, sure it's easy, but how do you get the o/s installed?

Got XP cd and happy with that, do i just put it in when boot up and let it run from there?

You'd be better off asking what minimum components you'll need for the specific tasks you have in mind on any PC forum.

Don't discount building your own either, it's not that hard and you could spec the parts yourself; I'd like a Gigabyte board, two Samsung spinpoint's etc. My build won't work out that much dearer than this and it'll be better for MY needs.

For general computing this should be fine. For HD video editing - not my bag - but I'd assume you'd need more ram and a dedicated graphics card. Would imagine the processor is ok for basic stuff at least.
#30
For the main application that i want to run, these are the specs

CPU Speed

2.2 GHz minimum or higher; Hyper-threading (HHT) or Multi-core recommended
Processor

Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core Duo, or Xeon Processors; SSE2 (or greater)

Run this Microsoft utility from your Windows command prompt to check your processor.

See Dual or dual-core support policy.
Memory/RAM 2 GB or higher
Display Properties 24 bit color depth
Screen Resolution 1024 x 768 recommended or higher at Normal size (96dpi)
Swap Space Determined by the operating system, 500 MB minimum.
Disk Space 2.4 GB
In addition, up to 50 MB of disk space maybe needed in the Windows System directory (typically C:\Windows\System32). You can view the disk space requirement for each of the 10.0 components in the Setup program.

If using ArcGlobe (as part of 3D Analyst), additional disk space may be required. ArcGlobe will create cache files when used.
Video/Graphics Adapter

Check your computer's ability to run ArcGIS

64 MB RAM minimum, 256 MB RAM or higher recommended. NVIDIA, ATI and INTEL chipsets supported

24 bit capable graphics accelerator

OpenGL version 2.0 runtime or higher is required, and Shader Model 3.0 or higher is recommended. Be sure to use the latest available driver.
Networking Hardware Simple TCP/IP, Network Card or Microsoft Loopback Adapter is required for the License Manager.

Should i go for this?

You can get new PCs of this spec ( and better) cheaper on ebay.

I got a better spec for £195 delivered this week:
Same Athlon II X4 640 processor, 2GB ddr3 memory , 500GB hard drive and a much better motherboard that has USB3, HDMI and optical sound outputs and onboard Radeon HD4350 graphics. It even came with windows XP and a load of other software installed too. It came in a decent gaming case too ( with mesh front , sides and top ).
The same seller list lots of them every week and all the quad core models seem to sell at around £200 inc shipping.

The HD 4350 is not a IGP. If it is onboard on a USB3 mobo then it's most likely to be a HD 4250 (880G chipset)

i linked to this a few post ago

I don't think ebay links are allowed ( apart from deal-of-the-day). But search on item 270737581024 thats one from the same seller i used ( but this listing is for one with a more basic motherboard and case than the one i bought )

Anyone used envizage for an actual pc like this
#38
Just bought one form the ebay seller mentioned above for £180 delivered - identical spec as the item number listed

It has Windows Xp installed - i only want it for web browsing and downloading - will 2Gb RAM be enough do you think? I will possibly ask how much they charge to upgrade it to 4Gb, but how much would it cost for an extra 2Gb DDR3 RAM to do it myself?

Whats Nvidia?

Thanks
#39
the one I mentioned above has Windows Xp and the same spec, but it was an auction, so prices vary

Ordered one over a week ago, I'm sure they aren't dodgy but their customer service sucks. I've been calling for days and no-one ever answers the phone. I appreciate it's been a bank holiday weekend so I'm in no rush to get it but technically it should have been here by now. All I want is the tracking number for citylink so I don't miss delivery. Not impressed.
