I wouldnt wish to purchase from that third party seller on Amazon! Some very dodgy reviews on customer service, USA versions & the tablets not being as new as stated! Id prefer to pay a few extra pounds and buy it from Amazon themselves.
Bartell
why's this voted cold? apart from Game at 149 who are OOS I can't see a cheaper deal

It's cold because it's not being sold by Amazon, it's a marketplace seller. This should be mentioned in the title.
Of course this is much better than the tab 3 8'. Check out the various review & spec details.
Someone help me. This or Galaxy Note 8.
Thanks Bartell & yusszn for this information. Have also ordered Asus Memopad & can decide which to keep before they arrive. Some reviews put this ahead of Nexus 2012 - due to cameras, card slot etc - but poorer quality plastic back.

I just got an Amazon warehouse deal on the 3g model for £170 with spare battery and charger and it is really brand new. I missed the tab deal as they were out of stock. A great camera, bit on the large side, but good for internet browsing. I would suggest checking the used ones out too if they are warehouse deals.

Order on Amazon now and it's £428, not as good as the £419 that it was, but still less than others, they will sell it to you at that price when they get the stock. But as they say if it takes 1-2 months you may not get your £40 cashback from Canon.as I think cashback is for purchases till end of January.
hoping the price drops when Amazon gets them in again and they're not coming from another seller through Amazon

Jesus this has come down quickly. I paid nearly £500 for mine but that was back in January. Brilliant camera though. Massively impressed and a stonking upgrade from me EOS 400D
Went to try to order again last night, when the tripod was at £25.34(!), but the discount still wasn't being applied. I went onto Live Chat and was told I must be doing something wrong, adding the wrong items to basket (like items from third party sellers instead of Amazon) or something and that I should check the terms and conditions.

This morning I had an e-mail following up on the chat saying, apologies, but there was a fault on the website and I should go ahead and order, and then contact them to take £25 off my order. So I went to do that and the tripod is now £49.07 and the camera is £425.00 but out of stock. This is clearly not meant to be for me. :(

Edited By: reddragon105 on Jan 07, 2013 14:15: Update
i ordered mine early hours sunday morning, had to open up the chat help to get my £25 off the tripod but i got the bundle and only paid £1.28 for the tripod well happy!!!! i also put some screen protectors, wireless remote and UV filter. one question i have got now....do i need to purchase a flash??? any recommendations?
just got paid some money for a side job i was doing and snatched the deal. i got the tripod at 4.80 through the online chat so its safe to say im well pleased!, i also had topcashback amazon vouchers lying round so put that to a couple of 32gb memory cards and some spare batteries

What the... I went to order this yesterday, but the discount wasn't being applied at or before checkout, so I went on live chat and was told there was a technical fault with the website and I should place the order anyway and then the discount could be applied by a customer services representative manually. I didn't go ahead with the order immediately, and then couldn't visit the site again until today because I was travelling home, having been away for Christmas.

So this afternoon I went back to order it and the tripod had gone up to £58! Yesterday it was going to cost me 64p, now £23?! It's since gone down a bit, to £50.31, but still, that and the hassle of having to get the discount applied after the order is taking the impulse out of this impulse purchase. Still a great price, but I'm going to have to rethink it.

You need to ask Amazon to freeze their whole system until you've reached home - I'm sure they'll oblige as they're all sitting there waiting for your order to brighten up their boring day. Very unreasonable of them not to take account of your Christmas arrangements. ;)
It was more a comment on the yo-yo-ing tripod price and faulty website (it's not working for other people either) than how inconvenient it was for me. I mean if Amazon have a certain offer on that's available until 31st January the least they could do is a) make sure their website actually allows people to get that offer and b) keep the prices fairly consistent. I'm not sure why the price is changing, but the deal isn't 'Get the tripod for £10 when you buy a camera', it's '£25 off the tripod', which, with the price changing, means the offer is more like a game of roulette - some people get it for £25, some for 60p. What happens if it drops down to £10? Does the person buying it in that 5 minute window get it for -£15?

Anyway, thanks for your constructive input. Your sarcasm aside, Amazon actually do often honour lower prices if a product is reduced shortly after you order it (sometimes automatically, sometimes you can chase them up for it). The tripod is now £35.22, so if it's ordered it at £50.31 yesterday they would probably give me that £15.09 off as well. As it is, the offer's on until the end of the month so I'm going to keep an eye on it...

Update - See what I mean? I've checked back twice since then and it was £31.45, and now £29.82. I hope anyone who ordered it at £58 yesterday gets the extra £30 back.

HAS ANYONE GONE FOR THIS DEAL?

I'm ready to click buy but I've heard about 'grey goods' sold online which won't be covered under UK warranty.
I think one person here even said Canon didn't honour the cash back deal because they bought from Amazon!

This item isn't even sold by Amazon its Digiplus.
Has anyone bought from Digiplus before? Are they legit?

These guys offer a 3year warranty which is amazing.
I'm desperate for this camera and I don't think Curry's will do a price match.
Thanks in advance for any replies, double thanks for quick ones.
dbracing15
A high end entry level camera? :)
My thoughts exactly! And for those of you looking to get this, you can get a 60D for the same price which is better built, and more of a professional camera...Definitely better than this 650D.
Bomster
I would personally recommend heading to Panamoz/DigitalRev and picking up a 60D.

Much better IMO.
It's not quite as clear cut as that though as the 650D is better when it comes to video. So it depends on what you are going to use it for.
dz1
Too big and bulky. The mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras are taking over now as they are a better size and weight and offer much better autofocus in video. That's why the price of this and the low end Nikons is dropping like a stone. Not much demand for these low end SLR cameras any more.

I think that day will come....... but not for a couple of years. The idea of getting SLR image quality from a much lighter mirrorless camera is not far fetched and as someone who carries around several heavy SLR bodies and lenses, I welcome the prospect of smaller and lighter gear but there are still a few things that an SLR does better, particularly autofocus on moving subjects i.e. sports or action shots. I'm talking about stills shots here. But I think in a couple of years time I may be swapping my SLR's for a mirrorless system.

I clicked on it as soon as the lightening deal started but still only got on the wait list. Luckily someone must have changed their mind as after 15 mins it dropped out of their basket and I got to put it in mine! The final was price £492 less the £50 cash back so £442 once I've claimed it. Well happy as I've had my eye on one of these for ages.

Personally, I don't think so. You get a touchscreen which in my opinion is fairly gimmicky and is one more thing that is fairly likely to go wrong before the main machinery of the camera does.

Gimmicky? According to reviews it's a winner, and something which should be implemented across the consumer range.
Great camera, I managed to get one last week from my local comet for £377. Also got the cashback from Canon, Bargain!
This is a duplicate deal as already posted yesterday here.

This or the D5100???

I had much the same dilemma. Decided on the Canon for a couple of reasons - I found the ergonomics better for left eye shooting, and I liked the depth of field preview option.

I think both are excellent, and it's probably a coin toss as to which to get, unless you already own lenses or have brand loyalty. I've read in some places that the Nikon performs better at high ISOs.

I hope this is better than the Optio WG-1 which I have just sent back to Pentax as it lasted just................................let me see, yes that was it - ONCE in 4ft of water for 5 minutes before the screen went through water ingress, Though I had the camera since July last year but only got the chance to use it in water last month in Cuba. As out of warranty wrote to Pentax stating not fit for purpose as it is a common issue. Will be interested in their response. I would check out user reviews first before buying this as an underwater camera.
Apart from some price variation during June and July it has been going down in price steadily since about March this year. Currently at it's lowest price. Probably not the greatest deal as it seems likely the going rate for it at present.

It's a good price for the lens, however canon often have cashback deals so overall the price isn't really that special.
For months with the euro2012 cashback offer you got £60 off this lens, when I was going to get this lens it was £589.99 at amazon and £600 at jessops, so this is not the cheapest it's been in ages.
I would say that the title ('cheapest for ages') is misleading, however i've voted hot as it's a good price from a good retailer, just a bit misleading.

You want cashback, you got cashback :) Canon has just announced the winter cashback program - for this lens is £55!

Total price after the cashback: £504.98 WOOP!

Thank you Lucas_Sheffield - have updated the deal title and details to reflect this. Excellent price with cashback - shame I've already got one - cost well over £600 a couple of years back ;)

This may not be the site for you then!

For the slow to comprehend, the use of 'would' is conditional - it "would only save a further £30" if you bought it then and you managed to claim the cashback i.e. it's not available now, and even when it was it involved additional hassle.

If you wish to judge whether HUKD is for me please do compare the deals I've posted with your own record. 'Nuff said.

Absoloutly! With the prices of full frame sensor cameras coming down I couldn't justify paying that much for a piece of glass that wouldn't work on a full frame sensor if I ever upgraded.

That's my thinking too. I could do with upgrading body in the next couple of years and with full frame getting cheaper I don't fancy buying anymore glass that is for crop sensor only.

Still a decent price for this lens though.
