I could do with a new printer - used to have an Espon and thought it was great and ink really reasonable. How much is the ink for this one anyone know? Great price.

Asda got the sx215 foe extra 7 pound and you get a 2.5 screen so u don't have to link to the pc for printing photos. But good price for this one if you just need a printer. Heat added

just a note to everyone who is buying this or any of the other epson and a few canon printers. You can buy a cartridge chip resetter for 6-8 quid and that keeps resetting your inks till they ACTUALLY run dry. You will be surprised how the ink companies just build a count back counter in the chips and once they count back the printer tells you your ink is over, when actually it there is still a lot left. I have in the past reset epson inks3 times before they physically went empty!!

I will be buying this as I have checked, cheap inks, chip resetter is available as well and you cant go wrong with price, though I would love it to be wifi!!

Bought this for £35 from Comet a few weeks ago, and I'm really pleased with it.

Ink cartridges are cheap - I got 4 cartridges (CMYK) from Amazon for less than £20 delivered - these were original Epson (I've had bad experiences with cheaper cartridges in the past).

My only complaint about this printer is it's quite noisy. Other than that, print quality is excellent - I'm a hobby photographer and have tried printing on a number of different papers - all produce a good print (even inkjet canvas was impressive!).

Sx115 in Asda for £33 this is the base model and very slow and noisy.

Sx215 in Asda for £40 down from £59 after being up from £47.

This printer makes an awful sound each time it starts printing, but then quietens down. I bought mine a few week back from Amazon for £35. Staples had it for that price (possibly £34).

You can buy really cheap cartridges for it. I got 4 full sets of ink (16 cartridges total) for £18.99 delivered from inkcredible and I'm sure you can get them even cheaper from eBay.

It's a nice printer with decent quality prints even with the cheap cartridges (I've not even used the originals yet). For the price I'd say you can't go wrong, though the above mentioned SX215 does sound very tempting if you're willing to part with an extra tenner!

To all those buying the cheaper ink, my personal experience

a) cheap inks dry up very quick, so you are forever running cleaning/purging cycles. My genuine epson ink in my R240 will work 3 months after I last used it without a cleaning cycle!
b) they are generally cheap for a reason. I trashed my last epson printer using cheap ink as it had contaminates in it, thus blocked my jets. My photo printer was only 9 month old and wasnt covered under warranty due to cheap ink.
c)poor quality ink fades very quickly, I have 2 prints on my fridge, one done on Epson paper with Epson ink, printed 8 months before another one with cheaper ink(Printryte) on Epson paper the one done with Epson ink still looks like the day I printed it, the cheap ink has faded beyond recognition!

So yes this printer is cheap, but why ruin it or get inferior prints to save a few quid

Which review: The Epson Stylus SX115 may be super cheap but, if you're looking for quality prints, your money would be better spent elsewhere. Scan and print speeds, particularly for photos are painfully slow, print quality is mediocre and connectivity options are limited. It's also rather noisy.

But if all you really need it for is letting the kids print out their favorite CBeebies picasso or sending the odd letter here and there, then it's still a bargain.

For quality photo printing you could always nip down to the supermarket / jessops/boots kiosks etc.

Though it hurts me to say it - it kinda gets my vote.
