My father in law is looking for an Epson which can reduce or enlarge when copying. This can't sahme as its got all the goodies he wants. With cheap cartridges available as well, WAY better than the rip off HP ones.

But,

Will have to vote cold..

Sorry

Has anyone had any experience with this printer or any similar printers in the same range from epson?

My mid-range hp printer has just decided it's had enough and stopped working, this is after numerous problems with paper being jammed and the printer not deciding to comprehend that the jam has been cleared, so I'm looking for a semi decent printer/photocopier (by decent I mean it won't just screw me over with errors every month or so) that won't put too much of a dent in the wallet

I've got this printer and it's great. It takes individual cartridges so you use less ink and are about £1 each on ebay - but you can also buy a continuous ink system too.

Great scanner - easy to use.

Fab bit of kit.

As for Gun's cold vote - what do you want for the money?:?

Still in stock.

I'm so tempted by this, but I print so little that I've worried the inks would dry out before i print more than 50 pages. At least a laser printer doesn't have such a problem...

Is it as bad as they say? I used to have a SC 670 which by the end of its life was taking around a minute per sheet. My R200 is on its way out , i've had to up the quality to 720dpi to get anything readable, and therefore takes a minute a sheet. Read a review of this which said it was horrendously slow, but not sure if I can justify the extra cash for the 600 model?

Only until you try to add it to your basket - then it isn't.

I have this printer too, its fine, cheap to run with no problems with anything to date. Easy setup etc.

I have just been to the Newcastle branch of John Lewis and they say that they were restocked last week. So although it doesn't seem to be in stock online, it seems to be available in store.

Just had email from John Lewis to say back in stock online, but when I click on their link it is still showing as out of stock. I assume it will update later today tomorrow, so worth checking if you are interested.

I set up the printer (bought instore) last night and can confirm this was very straight forward. I have just printed a few pages to test it and the quality seems good, although as noted not lightening quick or silently. However, the speed and noise were more than ok for normal home use, although it could be an issue for heavy users.
