Didnt find this any cheaper for personal consumers + this comes with free projection screen and photoframe.

Other places ive checked range between £500-650 without the freebies. Good deal in my opinion for those that are looking for a hd projector.

Do progectors have hd or not
#2
A bit deceiving that they call it "HD" and yet it's only really capable of 480p.......shame, as would have been a great deal if it really was HD.

Ur right, that would be quite unfair, it IT WERE TRUE

"The component video port can take 720p and 1080i high definition"

Not full hd, but if u dont have the funds to pay more for a full hd, this would be a good bridge, especially if u were already considering it, now that it comes with freebies.

I also thought this was good, but its not HD so not really great. There are loads of older but much better projectors going on Ebay from people who have upgraded to HD ones what would be a lot cheeper than this.

It supports HD inputs and downscales them to its native ratio of 854 x 480. Not so bad for NTSC SD tv but not great for PAL SD tv.

CHEEPSTUFFRULES!

Hi, sorry im not going to pretend i know everything, but ive found this deal & it seemed good for the price and what it comes with.

Ive found this though if its relevant:

ANALOGUE RGB I/O
DISPLAY PERFORMANCE Resize 1280x1024 / 1024 x 768 / 800 x 600 / 640 x 480
#12
Pixel number 854 x 480 pixels

is the important bit. You cannot make some thing that only has 854 x 480 pixels show more pixels.

Yes, as I stated at the start it can only manage a 480p picture. It can accept a higher resolution HD picture, but then scales them down to 480p - you can tell this as the LCD inside the projector only has 480 pixels on the vertical, so is physically incapable of a higher resolution picture.

yep was just about to quote that bit. I have the optima hd65 and that is 720p, only cost me £30 more than this and looks much smaller/neater too.

Probably a really stupid Q but how do you use this as a TV.

I take it there is no tuner built in?
#16
Didnt take much looking to find a better deal (just by looking on the dabs site)

http://www.dabs.com/products/acer-h5350-720p-projector-62CV.html

Who would really use the CD/DVD and spekers (especially when ceiling mounted) on a projector, unless its for a business presentation?
#17
£420 for a non - hd projector!!!!

You'd have to be crazy!!!

TS should be informed.

I have to say that thing is UGLY too. If i had one, forgot about it, then glanced upward at it id think the mothership had entered the house!

Thats if it didnt bring my ceiling down first... is it made of iron?
Its massive, youd need a high ceiling just to not clobber your head on it!

Not a stupid question at all, and you'd be right that there isn't a tv tuner built in. I use an external Freeview box for TV with my projector, but you could just as easilly hook up cable or satelite.
