Had this printer for a while now - feels a bit plasticky but has stood up well to abuse by the wife and kids. One of the main things going for it is that compatible ink catridges are dirt cheap. When buying a new printer always check the ink price and not the cost of the printer (he says putting a virtually unused Canon Pixma in the bin having not checked the price of replacement catridges before buying it).

I have this printer but cannot get it to scan for love nor money............Had a dell 3 in 1 before and it was so easy to use compared to this....can anyone help me get it to scan......

Load the provided software. Open the folder titled Epson Scan. Hit the scan button and away it goes.

There could be any number of reasons why your scanner isn't working, faulty hardware, incorrect installation, etc. Hard to diagnose the reason from the information provided. Try uninstalling the software and start again from scratch. If that doesn't work contact Epson support.

If that doesn't work, bin it and buy yourself a Dell 3 in 1.

I use this printer everyday, it is very cheap for compatible cartridges, but it isn't very fast. If the speed isn't too much of an issue, then this printer is excellent. If speed counts, it doesn't achieve anywhere near the quoted figures in usual use.

Why do they not make more printers that can print to cd/dvd?? they dont seem very common when you consider that many familes make home movies? Can aynone please suggest a suitable Printer that does this? I already have a Epson RX560 but want a newer model?

Whats the scanner like?
Can you just put a pile of 4 or 5 sheets on top, and it will scan them all?

Thinking of using it for letters, so I don't have to have paper copies laying around.

The scanner quality is fine but it is manual feed. If you don't have masses of scanning hand feeding it in isn't a problem. It is a pretty basic but reliable and cheap scanner, best suited for simple home use. Not really a full scale office machine.

What's the Auto Document Feeder in the title for then :?

It's not manual feed, there's a ADF on the top for scanning, photocopying or faxing multiple sheets:roll:

Aaaarrrgghh!

Don't do that.
Lots of Canon Pixma's now have cheapo ink replacements (& chip resetters if you're wanting to do the refil thing yourself).

I have a Pixma 4500 (and my wife's sister has my old Pixma 4300) and cheap ink is now available for them.
I get mine from Amazon UK (and they do a value double pack of all 5 tanks).

Have been after a printer for the kids for a while. The fact the replacement cartridges are cheap has sold this one to me - have googled & they can be picked up in total for a tenner a time. Likewise, this printer is £79.99 at Argos & Tesco. So great deal, have ordered one! Thanks

want this but need a bit more info on the ADF? bit of a misunderstanding with someone saying its a manual feed? on epsons tech specs it says it the feeder can handle 30 pages?

can someone who has one confirm if this sucks in the paper when using the top feeder to scan. if so, im buying.

Yes, it scans the documents one by one automatically if you place in in the feeder on the top of the printer. The guy that said it was manual feed probably didn't realise that you have to lift up the top bit of the printer to enable the ADF.

Don't know why this is hot, its constantly around this price and has been a lot cheaper in the past, I got this for £35 from John Lewis last year.

By the way, the only thing going for it is the Fax, otherwise as a basic printer its pretty third rate, keeps endlessly whirring before any printout.

I bought this off JL last year but cant work the scanner. Do you go to
ALL PROGRAMS --------ACCESSORIES-----------CAMERA AND SCANNER WIZARD.....
THEN TO SCAN THE DOCUMENT FOR EXAMPLE.... DO YOU LIFT PRINTER LID AND PUT FACE DOWN ON GLASS ?

Thanks for that, there have been other epson multi-fuction printer deals posted today, about £15 cheaper... If one doesn't need fax capabilities, whilst remaining static (non-networked)
