Good price but mixed user reviews to say the least at Amazon.

very poor review on Trusted Reviews:

"There are some good points about the Stylus SX100 such as its compactness and the economy of its individual cartridges but these are largely outweighed by its lack of any sense of urgency. We've never had a printer which took eight and a half minutes to print 20 pages of text before, nor one which took six and a half minutes to copy a 15 x 10cm photo. There may be some customers who print only occasionally, where speed has no real relevance, but this is surely a very niche market."

Seems mixed reviews on the Argos website. Some bad ones but for the most part pretty good for a £60 printer thats now half of that price. For the money cmon peeps this is a crackin deal. Always favoured Epson over other makes and this one seems cheap enough for anyone to appreciate, even if its a little slow on printing/scanning. Im sure for 30bucks though a small price to pay ;-)

Wha a great deal, im gonna ge one of these thanks heat added

can you print on this without a computer?

i get my inks from
www.inksmart.co.uk

it says their inks arecompatible with printers made up to march 2009

They are slow printers , seem to take forever to decide to print, but when it starts printing , its done quickly

This uses the same carts as my epson DX 4450 that i'm not that happy with.Would this be a better printer or is it an older model than the 4450?

By the way i have always ordered my inks from these people they are at least a fiver cheaper than what other people have posted above for this model

U been sniffing ink?
#17
Correct me if im wrong but these printers have been this price since Xmas... I picked mine up from currys for £30 and i hate it, as the reviews say it is a slow heap of junk and by god is it noisy!!!

This was the Retailers price at pretty much all the stores including Staples, DSG, Argos and Comet... Just do a search on these forums for SX100 and you will see...

Edit: i did it for you http://www.hotukdeals.com/search?action=search&keywords=Sx100...

The links you posted that still have them in stock are nearly DOUBLE the price now that the offer has expiired!

I was just raising the point that it has been this price since xmas at Argos, agreed some stores have now sold out/discontinued, but it was a reduction by Epson themselves and for a good reason, there absolutley useless for anything more than a few prints here and there... :)

so if this is a useless printer can anybody suggest an all in one printer, scanner, copier which is actually good and for around the same price?

thanks
#21
these have been knocked at at around £30 for ages - bought mine at pc world
#22
the hp deskjet f2280 all in one printer seems the best all round one in my opinion,it is £30 from wilkinson plus http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0255807 ,its got good revews and ink seems reasonably priced
#23
I bought this right after Christmas for around £30. It does everything its supposed to do and it does it well. The prints are great. But it IS rather slow. I only print the odd web page here and there, and a few pictures. If you want one that can print, copy and scan and do it fast, you're gonna have to pay a lot more than £30, simple.
#24
No stock next to me.

its not a useless printer, as it performs all the tasks in its description.
Noisey? spose, but then its only £30
Slow, yes but were only talking seconds, not hours.

A great all in one for the price for a light user. Inks are cheap to get too, so imo its far from useless.
#26
Guys cmon its £30 ffs. Dont expect the earth for that money... but like Nia says, it does the job its supposed to well, carts are cheap for Epsons, yes its slow but it gets there in the end and tbh whos gonna notice that its 5ppm less than the HP posted also... if you want to pay this price expect it to be 'OK' if not then shell out £100+ on a better printer. SImple ;-)
#27
Where I live I can only buy it for approx 40¬ quid.

still worth it?

What are actual times for printing scanning and copying? Say if I clicked "print" on pc, will I have to wait longer than 60 secs til its printed out (assuming its warmed up).

cheers
#28
I think I will buy one because of the cheap ink.

I don't understand how noisy can it be? I guess I'll find out if I decide to go for it.
#29
Please can some one tell me how this compares to Epson Stylus Office BX300F which is selling around £45 at the moment. Is it worth spending extra £15? Thanks.

Yep, the Canon MP220 is far superior and great reviews, and was recently half-price in Argos clearance:-

But if you take into account the price of the cartridges then the epson works out to be cheaper in the long run

Do those cartridges work on the MP210?

If they do, would you send me the links?

I'm going to try and get a price match in PC World

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/439740

http://www.internet-ink.co.uk/epson-ink-cartridges-stylus-sx100/

When that site says just 6.5ml ink in originals (supporting their claim to having three times as much ink in theirs) are they comparing to the cartridges supplied with a new printer - in which case I believe their claim is very misleading? I believe genuine Epson replacements are usually around 15ml.

Decent compatibles are still the way to go though.
