Just bought one of these for my Bro for his Birthday and got it for £68.80 inc delivery and was delivered in 2 days.

Seemed a good price compared to other places not sure how good the printer is but my experience of Epsons has been good and cartridge can be got cheap if you don't mind not having originals.

NOOOOOOO!!!! I just bought the non-Wifi version as the Wifi version was too expensive. Now it's not. Buy this printer and buy it now. The SX400 is so absolutely amazing. Do it.
#2
Seems like a good price... does it take compatibles or CISS?
#3
Delivery now showing as:-

"Usually dispatched within 3 to 5 weeks"

Edit: ordered one anyway. ( Delivery confirmed as "Delivery estimate: 3 Dec 2008 - 17 Dec 2008 " )

Strangely, if you search the Amazon site for the Epson Stylus SX405, the price comes up as £97.99 with delivery "in stock"

Compatible cartridges at £1.35 here:

Pretty sure it takes the CISS also.

£97.99 + £4.25shipping New

Is from helpdeskit. suppliuer who currently have stock but are somewhat drastically more expensive!!

Look under 13 used & new available from £68.90 and they are in there.

Is this printer such good value that it is worth waiting 3 to 5 weeks for?
#6
How much are the carts for this?
#7
Just ordered one, H&R added.

Just hope I receive it now.
#8
Just seen for the same price on PixMania with a rather hefty £10 delivery.... WTF
#9
It said 3 to 5 weeks when I ordered mine.. turned up 2 days later :)

matedodgy - can you expand on why this is amazing? Not able to find any great reviews via Google etc. Cheers

Hmm, I doubt it, with only a 3-colour system. Great for an small office all-rounder with limited photo requirements, and a great price, but not lab quality photos by any stretch.

For that, you're better off considering one of Epsons Claria ink printers with 6 colours like the RX585, (or even the Ultrachrome 8 ink jobbies if you're feeling flush!).

How is it better than this £63 Xerox colour laser jet apart from the Wifi option?

Ok, here to expand on why it's such a good printer. A few years back I bought an earlier version of an all in one Epson. It was ok UNTIL I used compatible cartridges. My advice is never, ever, ever, be tempted to stint on Epson compatibles as they FUBAR the print quality. I came to realise a need for a new printer last week. I thought long and hard about whether to buy Epson again. The closest rivals were HP and Lexmark models, though all the reviews I read about Lexmark criticised the print quality and Wifi set up / range.

So to cut a long story short I went for the SX400 in this add. I am so happy that I did. I photocopied a colour photo and the copy was amazingly detailed and wasn't that different from the original. I was blown away by the print quality. Document printing is decent too. But just so you go in with open eyes, the print speed is slow - possibly 3 ppm - and the unit is noisy. But that didn't put me off. I bought this unit for occasional photo work, photocopying and document printing every now and then. I have a cheapo laser printing for mass speedy document work.

I recommend this printer. Let me know if you need more info..

I posted the original deal on this and purchased one. My last post on the earlier thread stated that I was having problems with the wifi. I did get this sorted after emailing Epson, I had to disable start up groups as one of the start up programs was conflicting with the Epson software ( you can still start the programs manually). I now need to add back each start up program to find out which is the problem and leave diabled. The printer comes with an Edimax wireless print server PS-1208MSG which appears to be the same as the PS-1206 MSG whic retails for about £50 on it's own.

Lol. I was directing my main comments on the SX400 (exactly the same as the SX405 except Wifi). I got my SX400 for about £57 from oyyy.co.uk. My point remains, if you can secure the SX405 for £68 then go for it. But note spm's comments that Wifi is sometimes problematic, but I still think it's nice to have.

You dont have the item, so you dont know nohthing about the problem with wifi, so you cant really back him, can you? Because he had problem doesnt mean everyone else will.. Besides, the website you've provided is the most expensive web site i've come across with... thank you

I don't believe matedodgy was saying people will have problems with wifi, just that they might. I think the important thing is that Epson helped me sort it out.
I've used oyyy in the past and have normally found them reasonable.

Further to the offer above, if anyone is looking for an all-in-one Wifi Epson with better photo capabilities, then something like this might be of interest (although not necessarily this deal):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001HMG3GK/kelkoocpc-cs-peripherals-21/ref=nosim

Basically, a better photo printer, bundled with a wifi usb dongle.

The Claria inks will give a massively better photo image.

With a 3 - 5 week delivery estimate, I ordered on Wednesday 5th and its been dispatched today.... wicked!

Did anyone else buy this printer and have trouble printing?!?

I installed it all fine and now its saying the printer is offline when it isn't and it won't print.
