Hi,
I have the sx215 but tried printing some cards with it and it can't load anything that is folded over like cards. So I wouldn't buy for this purpose but otherwise well worth the money.

Bout time thermal printers were about these ink jets are costing us a fortune in carts every year, but like the fuel industry we wont see much yet as they wanna milk us more first....
#21
Cheers OP, my mum asked yesterday if I could have a look for a good/cheap all in one for her and less than 24hrs later this pops up, ordered

What is the lifetime of cartridges. How many prints can I make from a single cartridge.
#23
Snap mate! Will I need to get here anything else or will all cables to connect and ink etc be in the box!?

New to printers - what the ones at work are for! :)
#24
i have one of the sx515w ones similar to this but with wireless. my brother has the sx215 and dad has the sx115

pros - cheap ink, works with mac, photo quality very good.

meh - ink does not last as long as i hoped (5-6 A4 high quality photos + 30 colour pictures a couple of letters)

cons - when an ink cartridge runs out you cant do anything with the printer until it has been changed. no scanning, etc.

i think this will be the same. but could be wrong. overall happy with the printers.
#25
Reduce the price of the Epson P50 already!

I just put a continuous ink supply system on mine and its cheap as chips and lasts forever!! WARNING, make sure you use this weekly at least or at best you will be using a full cartridge just to clear one blocked jet at worst you will be chucking it in the bin!!

That's me :(

Got a SX600FW and used it as and when until the nozzles blocked. Tried everything with no luck. Now I use it as a rather large wireless SD card reader. Going back to Canon as this is the 3rd Epson I've ditched, each of them inside a year for blocked nozzles.

It REALLY pees me off. Epson must know about this, its so commonplace!! Im on my 5th Epson, every time I say its my last but I just get sucked in by low purchase price and running costs. If my sx515 goes the samw way Im definitely going Canon, never heard of them blocking, certainly my mate uses his once or twice a year and it always works straight away with NO cleaning, listen up Epson!!!!

****, no easy solution then other than to keep buying Epsons and chucking once blocked (I advise you all to get a 6yr old as mines making damn sure my jets will never get blocked, expensive solution though :p).

I've had my Epson R200 for 6 years, most of those using compatable ink, and the jets have only been blocked a few times and was instantly solved by using the Head Cleaning utility.

Ive got an old R340 thats exactly the same (use it for DVD printing) but I've bought other Epsons since and they have all bocked to the point that the HCU did not work. I have heard that if you take out the cleaning sponge and wash it, it will work again, its just too damn messy!!
#35
Yeah, there's a sponge on the far left inside the printer which you can blot the ink from with kitchen towel if it doesn't come out.
#36
Why expired? still in stock.

Cheers for that, I'll give it a go, seems to fishy that they always block after a year or so, there must be something causing it so perhaps that may be the answer?!?! (_;)
