If you're NOT a heavy user, and were considering a laser then:
a) you shouldn't need to buy a "high-speed" device
b) you may not need an "all in one" with scanner/copier function - though personally I would anyway!
So consider say a lower model in the range - eg Epson SX415 at £45 at Comet right now (with possibly some £back opportunities for reserving online).
It uses the same T071x carts that can be picked up in cloned/non-original form from around £1/unit - eg as OP said at Amazon or 7Dayshop etc.

Alternatively, have a look at the HP PhotoSmart B109n:http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-photosmart-b109n-wireless-multifunction-inkjet-printer-05074031-pdt.html£62.99 if you use 10PRINTER discount code.I wouldn't put cheap ink in an expensive printer, so another option might be the HP F4580 from Amazon @ £39.99. That's WiFi and doesn't cost a bomb up front either.

Have used the compatible cartridges in this printer with no problems at all!
