I have the SX600FW which is great. One problem was when I ordered 'compatible' cartridges from 7dayshop they didn't work! Reading the small print it actually said they might not work for all printers listed!

This has frightened me off using compatible cartridges and makes printing much more expensive.

Has anyone had any success with compatibles for this printer or the SX600?

Got this from Dixons this week which was £59.88 and the offer of £20 for COD Black Ops when you spend £50+ and then took it to computer exchange for £33 cash and after £3.12 topcashback ending up costing me £43.75 :)

Just set it up and looks really nice, prints really fast. Also came with the USB printer cable

Take the plunge and buy a Colour Laser.

My HP 2600n is great. About £100 for a set of toners but they last a year and I do a lot of printing.

Of course, it's not great for printing photos but you have to be a bit of a plonker to print photos at home anyway.

Or in a hurry and want a few very quickly, personally I think you have to be a bit of a plonker to buy the 2600 horrid little printer with no print engine, terrible output and shabby drivers. The print quality was ok in Windows but appalling from OS X and no proper installer for the drivers for OS X.

I take it this comes with cartridges?

Good deal but I'll probably pick one up at argos for the extra £7 rather than worry about courier delivery much easier to return too if it doesn't work.

Brilliant pirce but spent up at mo :(

The cartridges it comes with are half-full testers.

Got this good printer!
#25
We have had this and find it very good with cheap cartridges. Previously we had a photo HP which cost us a bomb in ink. I stopped doing my own photos and do them over the Internet anyway. The kids use this all the time for school and we have not been disappointed with quality.

Best to get ink off eBay.

Never had a problem with it.

Can I plug this straight into my router downstairs via ethernet? So other wired internet pcs in the house can access it? (As well as wireless ones??)
#28
you don't need to plug it into anything apart from mains socket, as its wireless, got one this week from Argos £59.99, can now print from PC, laptop and iphone (down load the Epson app) all wireless.... GREAT!

Great price for a quality printer, ideal for my mum & dad who've been looking for something like this :) .... thanks OP

Yup. I use mine both wirelessly and over cabled lan.

Worth hammering the point home that inks that are about as good as originals are availabledirt cheap from fleabay and hammerzon. I get 12 inks for about £10.

Photo printing at A4 sizes is sensible at home then, despite what others are saying. The convenience of hand picking what shots you want at what size you want and having the results in seconds is not to be sniffed at.

Also makes a great scanner / photocopy machine.

Beautiful to look at, all well engineered and glossy (except for the telescopic feed tray which is flimsy) I love that you can use it to print and copy without even turning the computer on. The LCD screen makes this a breeze.

Does nobody else find that cheap replacement inks rarely produce good colour prints??

I've always hoped that I could get away with it but it's not really worked for any of my printers. Most recently my Brother DCP-135C now prints every colour print with a Reddish tint.

Or am I buying ink from the wrong people? Can anyone recommend a good replacement ink supplier?
#33
I paid £80 for this printer a few weeks ago. I would highly recommend it.
#34
Ta ordered, with a batch of compatible inks, hopefully the inks produce reasonable quality prints.
#35
Can you print onto cd's with this printer?

Does this printer print on cd's?

I currently have a DX4450 which is connected to NAS server. I am able to print in wireless mode but can't scan anything. I have to physically connect the printer to my laptop in order to be able to scan. Recently I purchased compatible cartidges from buytech which ****ed my printer up. Black ink nozzle is clogged. Rest of the cartridges althoung brand new are shown as empty.

Anyone know if the scan function can be used in Wifi mode for this printer (SX515W)?

i have always used coms and also cis and never had a problem, ive only used epson. i find the paper is more important than the ink as inks have always been great but different papers with different printers produce not so good quality.

I don't know a way to scan over a network but a possible solution could be to hit scan when you're physically putting the photos on the scanner, then have a script setup to automatically move/copy those prints over the network, say with microsofts Synctoy or freeware belvedere.
