Purty good price, I paid £49.99 about 6 months ago from amazon.... Compatible carts are less than 50p each when buying 12 or more on ebay....

Probably an excellent printer, but check that clone cartridges are available at a reasonable price before buying.

See ebay item 110625417035 for the cheapest
or item 160459097906 - these are the ones I buy as they have decent ink in them so better for photo's

HOT! Shame it can't print onto CDs/DVDs.

is this the best wireless printer(with cheap inks) available right now? my current non-wireless epson sx200 series (about £40 iirc from argos), which I been using cheapo inks from ebay for near 2 years, is now starting to act up, not recognising some inks, saying it' empty when it's not, then continues to print even when the inks are really empty, just plain acting up, thinking about changing to a wireless altogether, is this a decent buy?

Without a doubt....

Epson is the only brand worth considering when it comes to cheap runnning costs using compatible inks. This model is flawless. Only downside is doesn't print direct to discs but if you don't need that then hey buy it

There's no question this is a terrific printer BUT a word of warning to anyone either using or looking to buy if using compatibles. It will work fine with comp cartridges but eventually, depending how much you use it, it will reject the cartridges and you will block the printheads. No amount of running the inbuilt head clean utility will fix it. I spent the whole weekend trying to clean them with a special cleaning kit off the bay (£10) and now am back to originals. Google printhead problems with this printer if you dont believe me. Also @ No1_Dave, download SSC Utility to sort the problems with your current printer before binning it! Here

I agree with the comments about compatible carts, I've only had my printer a couple of weeks and one set of carts started to cause a few issues like streaking and being flagged up as not accepted. A quick switch to the originals sorted this out and am all ok for now.

I thought the perks offer was only for Christmas as the voucher I had expired, wished I had tried to sign up again as I would have saved another fiver. never mind will come in handy for something in the future.

Well I would have to add Brother to that arguement. Had a brother printer running on cheap compatibles for over 3 years and over 70,000 pages printed so far. Just as cheap as the epson compatables.

Bargain! Great printer, had no problems with it yet :)
#11
Bought this printer just after Christmas, an excellent buy, easy to set up,
#12
Paid nearley £100 for this 6 months ago.
Cant fault it.

Just a note on compatiable inks, they are not the issues with blocking. Buy the new style compatiable inks for it. The tear of strips are on the bottom of the new cartriges, rather than the top. This prevents a vacume forming in your cartridge (as there is before you tear of the strip). Ive just put 3 sets of old cartriges through my old one of these (i thought it was blocked) but turns out just wasnt allowing air into the cartridge.

still saying £53.99? do i have to go in store and tell them my e-mail address to get that extra fiver off?
#15
Could anyone please recommend some good compatible inks for the 515? Got one before xmas and its needing a refill soon but dont mind payer an extra few quid to make sure it works. Cant be spending 35 quid on a new set of 4 inks though.. heard the jettec ones were pretty decent.
Any recommendation from other 515 owners?

I have been using Epson printers many years and as long as you print a test page (all alphabet all colours) about once a week you will never ever get blocked heads. I have always used compatable inks and two years ago went over to ARC refillable carts. Reckon you must have been unlucky with your printer. The only time I got blocked heads was when I went walkabout for a few months. Managed to clear the heads by filling the carts with water and running cleaning routine about 30 times! printer lasted many years after.

I too have been using compatible inks in all my Epson printers with no problems before. The problem is this particular model Sx515W doesn't like compatibles after a while. Not just me with this problem.

I was really tempted by this, but some of the reviews on the Comet and Amazon sites aren't good. Think I will carry on with my old Brother DCP-115C for the time being and keep an eye out for any alternatives.

Some further information if you are going to buy this - according to the Argos website, there is a 3 year warranty on this model amongst others, but you have to buy a set of compatible inks with it.
Found this on Argos site re. 425 model
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/SpecialOffer/fromProduct/9261242/promotionIdentifier/26062183.htm
and then link to Epson site
http://www.epson.co.uk/extendmywarranty
Valid from Feb 1st to Apr 30th. Hope this is of use to someone.

But then I see an Argos extended guarantee only costs £11.99.
Oh well, I guess it just depends whether or not you want to buy the original inks.

Not taking the £6 off.
Am I missing something or should this be expired?
Thanks.
