I have this printer - over all its great, BUT....

Its drinks ink - not a massive problem as the compatible cartridges are dirt cheap, EXCEPT...

The print quality for me with the compatible cartridges I bought is pretty rubbish, even plain text looks crap. Maybe I just got duff cartridges (from ebay).

Good luck trying to return if something goes wrong, SCAN has the worst aftersales, even worse than pixmania, they refuse refunds, refuse return postage, and if the exchange, they try downgrading you.

I used to buy all my stuff with these CLOWNS, not anymore, after a bad experiance, and I am not the only 1

Also, this printer has been posted A grade refurbished for 30 odd quid and new for less than 50. There's probably better out there for nearly 70 quid...

I hear this is very loud too?
#5
I paid £50 at comet a few months back.
#6
Good printer but these were at Amazon for £45 2 months ago.

Yes, loud but very quick
#7
This printer has been on here many times around the 55 pound mark.

I agree with you, so which do you think is better for £70?

In regards to it having been around at £55, fair enough, but it's not now is it?!

got this printer: decent fast printer, cheap compatibles, wifi works.

i bought for less than £50 a few months ago, don't ask me what is better now for cheaper cos i dont know and i aint got time to research this, but still cold.

Got this printer when it was on offer with Amazon couple of months ago for about £49. Easy to setup and print quality is great.

You only get sample inks with the actual printer but original epson ink is cheap.

Also got a free 3 year warranty with Epson with the purchase because I bought some black ink with it.

i also bought this under £50 from amazon and agree with profet, this drinks ink, honestly i only used it to print out customers addresses when selling stuff on ebay, and i dont sell much i only have 26 feedback over 4 years so you do the maths, and only used no more than 10 pages for other uses so far i have about 30-35% blk ink left and i got this printer in January. lucky i bought the rhino version of the black ink for £10, but should of stocked up more during the free give-away £5 voucher from currys/pcworld.

Looking online, it seems that there are three types of ink cartridges from Epson for this printer - named Cheetah (low capacity), Giraffe (high capacity) and Rhino (very high capacity). The yield results for the Cheetah (black ink) is about 250 pages, and for the Rhino is over 1000 pages. So basically, they are only half filling most of the cartridges.

Judging by the fact that there is clearly ink left in my (Cheetah) cartridge when it says it empty, I wonder if the chip in the cartridge is keeping track of its output and claiming to be empty when hitting a preset amount as opposed to when there is actually no ink left inside. Crooks, the lot of em.

if something goes wrong contact epson. i bought this about a 9 months ago. just had a problem went back to comet where i bought it told to call epson. who then sent be a new one out the next day. and collected the old one. all under normal man warranty.

found it quite good, bit slow to get started, but good one up and running it does use quite a bit of ink though but the ink as already mentioned is cheap some good some bad. been using http://www.megadealsxl.com and been happy with the results.

but now know about rhino size and will be looking at these soon.

however i got the printer for £49

Its often quicker and easier to get a repair through the manufacturer, but legally, your contract is with whoever you purchased it from, so you are within your rights to demand Comet arrange the repair or replacement,
