Picked mine up earlier, it uses individual inks - managed to get 10 for £12.99 on Ebay which is good!

Where's your post on here then hot stuff?

I was really tempted to go for this after seeing the cheap cost of refills at www.inksmart.co.uk
BUT then I read the reviews mostly citing breakdown of the paper pick up mechanism and suggesting you take out the £25 warranty ,,,so you've been warned!!!

I bought one of these a few months ago for the local scout group and its been great, litterally thousands of pages printed (monstly black and white but some photo quality) and its had no problems at all, recommended at this price.

either get a CISS for the cheapest best quality ink or use cheapo ones from ebay, i pay £13 delivered for 14 Version 7 cartridges (3 full sets and 2 extra blacks)

Just top let everyone know You NEED version 7 carts for all epson models that end with "15" I use the same poerson all the time and they have never let me down, its not me plugging myself but i can't prove that i guess ;) item number is 160358188738

Are these 'version 7' more reliable? I have an R200 which is slowly giving up the ghost, but I swapped all the inks out for the final time last week, and all but one needed the chip swapping out for the old one (which I then used a resetter on). And is your guy doing the full capacity inks or are these 7/8ml like the originals?

Been looking at the 515 at PC World, seems as though amazon have dropped their price to match and it's had an OK write up.

Bought one of these last time they were listed on HUKD

Happy with it so far - at the price if it breaks after 12 months not too bothered

Replacement inks on ebay - 12 for £7.99 delivered

Re paper feed - previous listing had a number of comments about how loud it was, BUT if you go into the settings there is a quiet mode you can activate. Well it's not totally silent but it's a huge improvement - it basically slows down the paper feed from manic to sane. It wouldn't surprise me that if left on the "normal" manic setting the feed would break (as mentioned above)!!

These carts that i linked are 13.5ml capacity so almsot double original capicity i believe. I am not sure on the details but the older version 6 carts were not recognised by the printer but these ones have always detected first time, every time.

Cheers

These were the ones I'd seen before: 220470733166

Can't be arsed to do the maths right now but I'd imagine yours are offering a couple of ML more in total, spread over more cartridges, if these are 18ml. Will have a try though, cheers for the heads up.
#17
thanks Paperlantern just reserved one of these from Comet you cant go wrong for this price as my wife is into crafting and uses a fair amount of ink.

nice price
#19
ordered one today looks like a good deal
#20
Definitely true!

All my Epson died on me when the pick up mechanism for paper failed. They just would not automatically feed the paper for printing and ended up in the land fill site. I have never tried t use other brands as I know with these printers, I can at least scan text with OCR.

My latest Epson DX4400 or 4200 is showing symptoms already

After you click on "Collect From Store" you get to a page to search for a branch of Comet. Near the top of that screen is a long grey bar with a box to enter the promo code. Took me a while to find it too. When you enter the code it knocks £4 off.

Yes it comes with a full set of ink carts, but like all new printers these are the carts with hardly any ink in, just to get you started. It used to be that they only had 3ml in the "in box" carts and i think that it is still true. I have put the item number of cheap but good quality ebay carts in my post above.

Bargain, shame they don't deliver to Northern Ireland :-(

grrrr
#30
Bargain -less than £70 for 2 delivered via cashback :-D

Yes, these printers don't last but I expect that and figure it into the price I'm willing to pay = bargain. Even once the printer breaks you're left with a rather good Windows 7 scanner.

Dirt cheap ink too.

Amazon (not a reseller) has just dropped their price to £39.99 too www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0029U2FNY/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

I've bought one of these today but got it home and am struggling to understand how to connect to my PC? It shows USB but seems to be old style and very deep therefore the only one that I think will fit won't reach? Any ideas as to what I need and where I get them?

It's a standard "A-B" type USB like above. Virtually every type will do except some designed for old USB modems.

Poundland and Poundstretcher sell them or try eBay 99p delivered from a UK seller 350234991760 or direct link http://tinyurl.com/y9cm9ps

ordered .. thanks op.

I have had a few epson printers so far. most of mind suffered clogging of print heads. I'm wondering whether this has anything to do with using compatible inks... I'm only an occasional printner, and as such, it annoys the hell out of me when i find out the printers clogged everytime i ned to print something.

Might just stick with original carts this time to see what happens.

Can the colours be replaced individually?
#36
cheers ordered 2, thanks to the OP
