Looks more like 3/4 of a carat of diamond shavings off the floor of the jewellers :whistling:

wrong again

5 pendants with 8 diamonds (40 diamonds). So less than 0.02 carat each. Definitely worth £800 originally..honest haha
#4
Not bad if you use tescos vouchers, should only need to use £75
#5
Can you use clubcard in Ernest Jones..think its just Goldsmiths ;o)

do you mean like buying 3 of these :whistling:

face it .. it's a rubbish deal (and the non-heat it has received proves this).

You're basing your (poor) opinion on the fact it states 0.75 carats, when the 0.75 is made up of LOADS of small stones or as they should be called "shavings".

COLD / rubbish deal ... get over it 'fool'.

Fail, I specified a reputable jeweller not Argos selling glamour jewellery of the lowest quality and colour- you dont know your diamonds from your marbles do you! :p

I dont know the reason it was voted cold, maybe voted by knuckleheads who frequent the site but the deal was not about paying £799 or £399 but the fact that it could be bought cheaper in store and having seen the jewellery in store I can reassure you they are not shavings. I am supremely indifferent to whether people vote this cold or hot, but I would expect people to say why based on facts and not crass assertions

You still don't get it do you  .. as someone rightly stated earlier, how can anything that has 40 stones but only make up 0.75 carats be anything else but 'shavings'? Quality and colour does not come into it for such a minor piece of jewellery.

To be honest, any sparkle you are seeing is the white-gold it's mounted on (this is why most diamonds are mounted in white-gold to give it the extra shine) rather than the fantastic gems you somehow think are present.

If it was a single stone pendant that was 0.75 carat, then that would be a different matter and this might actually be a warmer deal, however as it is .. it's cheap tat.

Just because it's Ernest Jones selling it makes no difference, afterall they are hardly Tiffany's or Boodle & Dunthorne. :whistling:

Ive been doing some digging which has been educational as well!

http://www.scrap-gold-buyers.co.uk/apply.html?weight=5&carat=9 carat :-
Scrap metal cost estimate 9k gold £38.25 (based on 5 grams total weight)

Assuming I1-2 clarity (worse case) 40 x 0.02 carat raw diamond worth $331 or about £220

Raw material costs about £260 (worst case) add on manufacturing/retail value add I would say takes the overall worth well over £299 so def not worth £799 but £299 is good deal

Slight flaw,
You are looking at a diamond retail site. It isn’t necessarily worth $331 just because somebody sells 0.02 for $331. Using that logic, somebody could have said the pendant was worth £800 ;o) I just found a site selling 1 carat worth of 0.01-0.02 diamonds of similar spec for $150.
It is all irrelevant. I had not been arguing of its value. You told post #2 that it was not diamond shavings..but I was just pointing out that these are tiny diamonds, worth about £5 each.

FYI, Ernest Jones is hardly a decent jeweller. It is closer to Argos than a decent jeweller :(

Of vourse it is a diamond retail site, most if not all items on HDUK are retail goods being sold to retail customer so Im just pointing out the retail cost is good compared to the raw material retail costs. I think your last comment is telling if you think Ernest Jones ranks along Argos. Im bored of this time to move on.

Using that logic, I could say buying a new Ford Fiesta is REALLY cheap.
A new engine is £4k, a new gearbox is £1k, a new clutch is £500, a new spray is £1k, 4 new wheels and tyres are £1k, a new shell is £3k, a new airbag is £500,etc etc...oh, the retail price for a new car in parts is £20k.
It must be a great deal if the car as a whole is just £8k
