Way overpriced just like this one, then.
Not really when you consider it is a movie player, music player, compass, camera, video camera, torch, satnav, live sky tv player, mini laptop etc etc etc.Hell I can even make phone calls from it.A bargain really and a much more accurate time than the Omega which can only tell the time
You can get cheaper phones that do all of that, and you can get cheaper watches that tell the time too, so I believe his comment is valid :D

"Replica" watches are made in the same factory as these, they just don't meet the ridiculous quality control that Rolex imposes. The "replicas" are then sold to companies in China for pennies who then sell them to the Turks for a pound then you buy them for, say, £20. Everyone gets a slice of cake, everyone is happy including Rolex who then claim they are "fake". And that's economics 101 for you.
That's exactly what the guy in Bulgaria told me three years ago when I bought an Omega Seamaster off him for 60 quid. And he even had his mate Zoltan (who worked at the Omega factory) stood next to him to vouch for him.
It's hard to believe there are still some people around who are daft enough to invest in the genuine watches when they could get a fortnights all abusive holiday AND the (almost same) watch for the same price.
Some people want a 2 week all in rest/holiday for £4K, others might want a watch they can wear most days for 20/30 years and pass down to their kids.

Neither is wrong if it makes you happy and you feel it's good value. Equally, someone might want a watch one year and a holiday the next. Depends at what stage in your life you are at - not age related.

EDIT: I couldn't tell if, but hope, you were being facetious about the Bulgarian guy and his mate oO

People who have a lot of money are usually the stingiest in society, in my experience.

With the greatest repect, even in your experience, I would think it's unlikely that wealthier people would go around telling you, or anyone, the good they do with their money.

Also, every person that is good with money will want to find the best price or get the greatest value for something regardless of how much money they already have. Infact, though there are some great deals to be had on this site - I would suggest that this website actually causes people to spend more money on things they don't actually need. Which might be why a good deal on SSD's or a cheap PS4 gets much much more heat than a mortgage deal for instance.
robdoubler
a good investment if you have the spare cash tbh, unlike iphones and other gadgets these will be worth more in 20 years.
You're right, I toyed with buying an omega seamaster in 2003 for £845 Heathrow where I worked, similar watches sell for 1100 to 1500 at auction with box. I know it just keeps place with inflation but you get to wear a great watch and could always get your or most of your money back.
andypolack
So are people with a lot of money allowed on this site, or not. Your post wasn't clear. And was ****.
My post wasn't clear? Andy, I'm worried about you. When your next in school show the post to your teacher, they'll be able to help you.

I can't get on that site at work as it's blocked for having no category - although looking on my phone they don't have the blue face one only the black face, with a different strap. Not heard of this company before, although it seems to have good reviews.

Bought this on interest free credit and watch has just arrived BUT IT IS NOT NEW!!
It has marks on it and no covering stickers on face or back as is usual with a watch of this calibre.
Guarantee cards not stamped with dealers details either.

That's bad news be interesting to see how they sort this
that's a bit aggressive! and it's a chronometer so it keeps time properly. not quite as we as my Sinn though.

I just had my seamaster serviced by omega through Harrods. it was £400 and looks like new now. plus it's first time in twenty years that I have had a service on the watch! so it's not outrageous. plus it's now with more than I paid for it....

Try that link, you might be able to find yourself a local horologist. They will not be the same prices as the manufacture.
Brilliant, thank you. I'd never have considered this route! As it's out of warranty in August anyway, it won't matter who does it.

Buy a Swatch instead. Same ETA movement.
I thought all Swatch watches are quartz, no?

Quartz typically means battery operated. Omega have/had battery operated quartz models in addition to the much more popular automatic movements.

Yes, I know (and have never understood why anyone bus wa quartz Omega or even Tag), but this one is an automatic. So my point was buying a Swatch is not really an alternative, as suggested by anewman.

Goldsmiths also have some Omega's on sale.
Might be also be worth checking the used market, because a well known YouTuber is claiming Omega has over supplied the market. Which he claims has affected both new and used prices.

the prices seem to have risen sharply on both new and used markets

simply put Ernest Jones and their sister company H Samuel don't carry any stock outside of the shops.

So if they don't have it displayed the shop your at, they have to order another stores watch that has been displayed and during the sales they tend to send out a lot of the returns, same deal for online orders.

basically you'll never get a new sealed watch off them unless special order high end Swiss
x3 time ordered a watch from Ernest Jones

x3 times got a used return

not getting my business ever again.
It's a nice watch, if far too busy for my tastes, and I it's a good price.

Alas, it's Ernest Jones. They discourage price comparisons or review research by obscuring the model number. Fortunately, they are lazy enough to just use stock images, so a quick image search reveals that the model is SSC081 and the usual UK price is around the £220 mark).

Unless you are going to use for swimming, you can get the batteries replaced for a few quid, as they don't need resealing, which Imo is a massive con.
I've got a tag link sl, f1 and a grande chronograph and refuse to pay the ridiculous amounts goldsmiths want.
when my wife's tag stopped functioning properly after a mere 2 years they wanted £245 for servicing it.
I took them to small claims court under eu legislation and they paid me the £245 repair fee.
Don't think I'd agree with this, had a Tag a few years back, shrinked on paying the near £100 battery replacement charge, put it into a local jeweller, paid around £25, watch never worked correctly or remained watertight again - and I don't do anything other than very rarely swimming and a shower daily. Eventually sold it for spare or repair, got pennies back for a £1,200 watch. I'd pay the extra for the non battery model if I was to buy another in the future.

The showers are what killed it.
My comment should have read "not for swimming ".

I don't go to the local pool with my tag on, so don't need the specialist sealing, which I think is a massive con.

Basic looks, but a good brand and a good price.
Be aware though, that once the battery runs out, it'll cost £120-£150 for a new one, plus re-sealed.
Just had a battery change and re-seal on my Tissot for £39.95 at Ernest Jones, are different models different prices?
Any reputable Tissot outlet will send a Tissot watch needing a new battery to Switzerland for replacement and re-sealing, to maintain the warranty. Yours cleary wasn't.

So are you saying Ernest Jones arent a reputable outlet?
Automatic watches have their detractors (accuracy +/-5 sec per day >>> +/- 30 sec per day is useless if you have to have precise accuracy), they are more expensive and some (Swatch, for instance), use cheap metals, springs and !plastic! in the movement for built in obsolescence (last week, I was wearing a 40 year old Citizen) and they tend to be more expensive new.
But, there is no battery....

Mind you, they still like to be serviced every few years.

Nasty bait switch technique in use by Ernest Jones

Fiver down the market. Keeps accurate time and lasts as long. Waste of money
Fossil watches tend to be good and this one has good reviews across the board (I think) .
I agree re comments about how much it's worth ultimately equates to how much the beholder values it. Seems like a reasonable deal to me (heat).

Personally my nature is utilitarian tempered by my own peculiarity and I reckon it's more than a little busy for my tastes ****.

There's a SS version here for £160, although the trustpilot reviews for the TicWatches isn't as positive as the WatchCabin: [url=https://www.ticwatches.co.uk/ar5988-mens-silver-tazio-classic-watch-p26268/url]

*I rather like old (all mine are from the 1970's) Citizen automatics even though automatics are not as accurate as Quartz and they aren't terribly waterproof and probably won't survive a clout without remedial TLC. From a hotdeals perspective, they are rarely more than £20 on the bay and thus a fantastic bargain if you're careful.

It's a quartz fashion watch so will get voted cold. I voted hot due to savings from rrp.
Most people vote cold cos it is a cheap mechanism buoyed by a fancy schmancy name and more 'serious' mechanisms can be had for less.
Live and let live I say, but if you ever fancy buying a proper watch just ask! ;)
yea that's true i guess but i really like the look of it and think its a good price for what it is :)

Yes I had the price alert on that model from Amazon, cracking price at £374, never ever been that cheap and see its back up again price wise, I am sure you'll get one dispatched eventually.

Agree Ernest Jones stock system is crap. Ordered the citizen nighthawk from them, 1 week later order cancelled out of stock
I ordered the citizen CC3005-85E when it was on Amazon for £374.50. still no idea when it will be dispatched but hoping its soon.
OOS :(
